    I have a vendetta against etude 40… senior year all state music… I graduated in 2004… funny I did a lot of the things he suggested (taking in 3 at eighth note= 120-ish, alternate fingerings, etc)

      Look up Josiah Boornazian etudes. Those have lots of character and should definitely be considered. Lots of extended techniques too.

    I can’t figure out the fingering pattern for 40 it’s so hard

    All this and when asked to improvise over II V I chord changes … most classical saxophonists are clueless . Smh 🤦🏾‍♂ Why these schools still use these archaic etudes is ridiculous AND quite frankly OUTDATED .

      For the record, I am predominantly a jazz saxophonist. Look at my other videos. That said, playing these “archaic” etudes is great for developing control on the instrument.
