    Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, this is not working on my 4K LG OLED TV. I can select "Display Options" but when I go to select "Set a specific screen resolution" it repeatedly bumps me back to the previous menu without being able to select a specific resolution.

    • @OfficialChaseBrogan
      @OfficialChaseBrogan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This has been happening lately with 4k tvs. It’s a frustrating issue. If you connect to a non 4k monitor/tv and make the changes it will allow you to do so without bumping you out. It’s a annoying workaround but does work this way. After that just connect back to your 4k tv and you are good to go. The settings will save and transfer right over.

    • @tomthumb0
      @tomthumb0 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@OfficialChaseBrogan Yes, I read that about that. It seems that changing the resolution here only seems to work with menus and such and not during game play. My problem is that the game play is choppy (lower frame rate) on the 4K display. The game play works just fine on both of my PC monitors (2560 X 1440). I did go through some of the retroarch menus about adjusting it there but could not seem to find what I was looking for. I'll need to look a bit more thoroughly next time.
      Perhaps there is a way to manually set the resolution in a configuration file somewhere. Going to be doing a bit more research on the matter. Hopefully I can find a solution.

    • @OfficialChaseBrogan
      @OfficialChaseBrogan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tomthumb0 that should lower the resolution throughout. It did for me when I went through this but that was several months back. It’s updates everything changes so it could behave differently for you depending on your setup and your version. You can adjust resolution in retroarch. I believe it’s under options off the quick menu but I’m not certain. It’s been awhile since I was in there for that.

    I had an issue that others are experiencing where it would just refresh the page when trying to select change resolution before the options are presented. I had tried a few suggestions to change the configuration file to include "hdmi_group=1 hdmi_mode=16" for example but would still force 4k. I had tried an easier work around of plugging it into an older 1080p monitor and choosing the option there and saving the settings and then plugging it into the 4k tv.

    The reason why this happens is if you connect the hdmi to the socket furthest from the power connector. You can change the resolution from raspi-config if it is connected to hdmi 0 next to the USB C port. Or manually in config.txt for 1080p hdmi_group=1 hdmi_mode=16 or 720p hdmi_group=1 hdmi_mode=4 however changing to 720p can strangely disable WiFi connection

    Thanks very much for this video. I had a similar issue to the others in the comments where games would display perfectly on various computer monitors but would glitch in a weird way when using my large TV: when the whole screen needed to be redrawn, the bottom third to half of the screen would warp and glitch, like it was having a hard time catching up, making playing fast games almost impossible. Manually setting the resolution, even to the highest possible resolution and refresh rate, fixed the problem!

    If I select "restore to default" on RetroArch will it only affect aspect ratio/visuals only?
    Reason I'm asking is because I see that some letters are not fully shown at right and left of screen like the "press start" on 007 i only see the word "press" and only half of "start".
    Or is the another way of fixing my issue?

      Any time! Pretty much any modern day display is going to work well. If using 4k though it's hit or miss. Some people are able to make these changes outlined here and others are unable to even get a picture at all when booting. The good news is the work around is simply plugging into a non4k tv making these changes and then you can go to the 4k and everything works perfectly.

    • @OfficialChaseBrogan
      @OfficialChaseBrogan  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey not too sure about that but it’s likely not a 4k tv issue. Have you tried it on another tv? Does it work on a non4k tv? You may need to scrape with a different scraper like screen scraper.fr and you may need to enable videos. I’m really not well versed in scraping. I haven’t spent a huge amount of time doing that so I’m not much help there.

      I don't believe so. You should be able to edit the framerate in retroarch. Hit select (or whatever you assigned as your hotkey button) + X at the same time. I'm not certain where the setting is as I've never done this personally but I do believe thats where you could make framerate adjustments. i will try to look into this and possibly do a video on it if I figure it out. Check around video configuration or video settings in there.

      Should be able to do so in retroarch. Just hit x and the hot key key (usually select) I’m not sure off the top of my head where in there but there are controls/settings that can be customized for resolution. Try under video section. You may have to hit B on the first screen to advance back a page. It usually brings you into a subpage right away.
