The issue with reading Piranesi in one day is that I had to hard focus read, reread passages, pause and think out a window. Ended up taking two. Emperors Soul I listened to on a hike with my dog and that was quick and easy. Mort has been on my TBR for over a year so maybe this is a sign.
I just took up your challenge and read all 3 books in a single day. They were excellent recommendations! Loved all 3 for the same reasons you mentioned. I actually did the Sci-Fi reccs too (excluding hitchhikers which I’ve already read) the day after. I’m finally out of my reading slump thanks to you two 😂
Read annihilation in two days after the sci fi video - absolutely adored it! I’m so glad I found you guys, you’re getting me back into reading for fun.
Have now read Piranesi - interesting to say the least. Loved it. Not sure I would give it 5/5 but it’s up there. The world building was awesome and twists were awesome.
Just wanted to say thanks for keeping me company while I make my eras tour friendship bracelets! You make me laugh while tying the bracelets makes me want to cry!
I LOVED Piranesi, and Mort is my first and only Pratchett novel so far. Looking forward to reading the other book. I have not read any Sanderson because I'm daunted by the average length. Not to mention he writes mostly series. Thanks for the rec!
I'm checking in after the sci-fi books episode and picking up Hitchhiker's Guide on a whim after watching/listening to that episode made for an awesome weekend. It was one of the most concise books I've ever read and I vibed with it so hard. It wasn't exactly life-changing, but it was close and I'd call it one of favorite books now. I read Piranesi in pretty much a weekend when I read it a while back. It's one of those books that I couldn't stop reading until the end. I'd also call it one of ky favorites. The Emperor's Soul was, of course, fantastic and just one part of my Sanderson journey I decided to read it sooner rather than later. Mort though... maybe this weekend.
So glad you have Hitchhikers a shot!! Glad you vibed with it. And great taste with Piranesi, too - I think youll really enjoy Mort especially given your thoughts on Hitchikers
I loved Piranesi. Also The Emperor's Soul. IMO, that was Sanderson's best book by far. (My second favorite by him is Yumi and the Nightmare Painter.) Haven't read but Mort but it's on the list now!
Piranesi is incredible, I loved this book. I’m so glad you recommend it because yes!!! Wait you folks get taught about books published after 1947? 😂 I will definitely try to acquire The Emperor’s Soul, I loved The Way of Kings so that’s a high bar but I believe in Sanderson. Mort is on my tbr as well. I’m going on my Libby app to see if I can find both the Emperor Soul and mort there!
in a bit of a reading slump so i’m gonna try these out! maybe some shorter books will help. I actually added Mort to my tbr because of your review haha will report back in 3 days…? LOL
You basically described the whole plot of The Emperor's Soul and you call that spoiler free? I think such a short story benefits from not knowing what you get into.
Before anyone accepts the challenge Just wanna say I googled that max amount of words for “books that can be read in one day” is 40k. Mort and Piranesi are more than double that 😂
Top three books to read in one day: 1. Les Misérables (Victor Hugo) 2. Infinite Jest (David Foster Wallace) 3. The Brothers Karamazov (Fyodor Dostoevsky) Please consult your pharmacist regarding safe doses of Adderall.
Thanks for rearranging my TBR fellas. Entertaining and informative. Fun as always.

Oh my god Mort was fantasticcc. I haven't read a single other discworld book. I thought it was deserving of its must-read status.

I think emperors soul is actually one of the most thought provoking books of Sanderson. It’s a beautiful book.
I loved your pitch of Emperors Soul Richard. You hyped up that sando magic perfectly 🤙🏼
Well I think it's about time I finally go back to read and start from this recommendations. Thank you guys!

Absolutely love Mort, I've read Guards! Guards! And going postal. But Mort still sticks out in my mind.
Piranesi brought me to the channel, I read it and was desperate to discuss. Might be my favorite book ever
We have another full hour pod coming out this Friday talking more about Piranesi. So so good
Read both Piranesi and Emperor's soul, and in the middle of Mort right now lol. All of those books are amazing
Hell yea!!!
"It used to be all about us..."
Now, we have Levy, Kendyll, Newman, Coop... These are the thoughts we need!🤣

Great vid
I NEED to read emporer's soul...
You guys read way faster than me 😂 no chance I’m finishing a 250 page book in 4 hours. Just getting into reading so i know I’ll get faster eventually
YOU GOT THIS
Your guys' thumbnails are only getting better! 😅
Thankya Kal 😁😁
wait whats the best Death book Richard?? Hogfather? Reaper Man?
As soon as Austin reads it, you will find out 🤣
Fun fact, Mort in Catalan and Romanian also means death.
"Mort" indeed means "Death", and it's pronounced like "more" (the T is silent).
I’m kinda sad cuz I’ve read both Small Gods and Mort, but neither clicked for me. I think Discworld might just not be for me :(
Mort never really clicked for me, either, though I appreciated Small Gods quite a bit.
Damn thats ok, maybe one of the books in the series woild but those are some of the greats, so no problem if it just isnt for you
Third book is 20:52 not 29:18
Shoot thanks so much for the correction! Just fixed
Let's go!!!

Rookie numbers, you gotta pump those up
I know you're joking, but that's one of those things that you can't really google. It's such an individual number.
