35 years ago, I packed everything I owned & traveled over 2,000 miles, ending up just west of the Superstitions. I’d never visited there, or been anywhere remotely close, but I wanted my college years to be a much different experience than the first shitty 18 years of my life & I figured a good way to start was literally in a much different environment than the dreary and drab northeast gave me. It was the best decision of my life. Being surrounded by the beauty of Arizona helped me start a new, better life for myself. I was there for 31 years before Covid, and, as an only child, the responsibility of taking care of a sick parent made me have to leave. And I’ve missed it every day since. So… your video of both your Canyon excursion, and especially your Superstition hike (that I’ve done countless times myself), might’ve made my heartsick with nostalgia, but it truly made my night happy. And then to top it off unexpectedly with the gorillas in Rwanda…. Just wow. So I subscribed & I’m very much looking forward to going through more of your videos. All the best & again… Thank You 🙏 ✌️
Whoever had the idea to put this together? Thank you! Beautiful scenery, itreally puts one in the experience having the music overlayed like that. Thanks for sharing!
Even if I saw each videos before, this compilation of those with the music is just fantastic to watch and listen over and over again. Thank you for sharing all this beautiful places and taking us with you and your wife along your journey. I hope to continue following you for many more epic adventures. Thank you 🏕️🏔️
WOW - what an awesome present for this Christmas season. 3 hours of beautiful scenery in some of the greatest places to hike. Thank you, Eric and Merry Christmas to you and family.
Incredible footage and compilation. Enjoyed the composition of what you decided to capture. The raw audio with some music was pleasing to the ears. Great work, looking forward to all you have next Eric.
Eric, Thank you for this! This is the exact reason I started watching hiking videos. the views, the calm, the relaxation. It is inspirational without words. Again, Thank you... your friend Brian
What a great way to start Christmas Eve morning. Beautiful scenery and music while I enjoy my coffee and wrap the last few prezzies. Thank you! And a very Merry Christmas to you and your family!
I'm loving the music Eric and as always, your photography is awesome. Merry Christmas to you and Kristi and I'm looking forward to the rest of this awesome video and more of yours in 2024! Take care, stay safe!
Visit south Korea in the fall of early October. There are many wonderful and beautiful trekking hiking trails, including Mt. Seorak and Mt. Jiri in Korea
Hi, Eric. I watch your videos with interest, I also go to mountains and forests in Bulgaria. We have 3 major routes, Kom Emine KE 3, E4, E8.... I think that if you have a way in Europe you could visit Bulgaria too
OMG how beautiful. I want to do the Grand Canyon hike, but after your experience with narrow minded power seeking individuals I put it on the back burner..................This is reigniting those desires! Maybe Dan will put out a trip next winter? Merry Christmas to you and your family!
@@eric_hanson Thank you @Eric_Hanson ! I also got the Medium torso, your videos about this bag convinced me to jump with this "Cadillac", as you said. Thanks for this video, It's a real gift with images and music. (thumbs up to the editor)
Great video! Loved just watching the scenes flow. Do you ever come across rattlesnakes in the desert? I’m deathly afraid of getting bit by one while on trails in California
I spend a lot of time in the desert and I've come across probably 4 rattlesnakes in the wild. I've never been particularly concerned with them. But my dog sat down right next to one once and that scared me pretty good! But all was well and I think in general the fear of snakes is disproportionately high.
@@eric_hansonthanks for the info Eric. Just out of curiosity, what were the things you zipped up around your ankle, shins, at the 8:32 mark? Is that for moisture protection because of the deep snow?
Nobody really talks about his score, complimentary music selection gives it an eery and solemnly ethereal vibe to it. I hate complimenting video production quality on TH-cam vids, cuz it's a bit sycophantic but I concede. Kudos on your music judo.
If you do not carry high caliber hand gun! Start. I’m 77 yrs live outdoors 6 X’s I have meant Cryptids. Extremely dangerous and scary. There are also dangerous humans😮.
Not as much interesting and adventurous as Pakistani trails Like K2, Deosai National Park, Rakaposhi Basecamp Trail, Fairy Meadows, Nanga Parbat, and Tirich Mir. you will be blown away how much Pakistan has to offer
You must be living to hike. I wish I could do just that. I even want to die on hiking. I would like to know how you got filmed all of your walks? Thanks!
haha yeah I understand! But that's part of why I love this, it paints the other picture no one has seen yet as that ended up being full of rescue and scary stuff.
Wonderful compilation! Love the landscape and wildlife. A list I will keep to aim for. Some of the product links are broken so if any chance of at least typing in the product (brand and model if possible) when you aren't hiking would be appreciated. For ex the hiking pants link is broken. Thanks again and this made me subscribe! Big fan of silent hiking.
Great company n nice music . No medical evacuation this time or you arrested? 28 mins, I remember camping near water in Jordan and it was peaceful n tranquil- until the frogs came out at night - loud as anything!
haha I didn't include the med evac or the ranger run-ins here. This was all about the more tranquil, peaceful side of the trip that got overshadowed with all the other stuff that happened.
Just now had time to sit down after the holidays and watch! Amazing photography and scenery, much better than watching TV! Thanks for this video and here’s to hoping 2024 is a prosperous year for you! Happy New Year!🎉
I love this video! Why haven't you done this sooner? Thank you! Maybe you can do this at the end of every year. Or more if you want. I am really enjoying the scenery. It's awesome! Again, Thank you!
Very relaxing and beautiful. I know the footage probably doesn’t do it justice but looks like you had an outstanding 2023. Congratulations to you and your bride on your recent wedding as well!
Thanks Eric. I watched the Grand Canyon portion so far and am looking forward to the rest. Shot out to your videographer. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

This so well done. And such a nice change from all the gear related videos that backpacking/adventure channels put out.
worth a sub
I'm sorry about what y'all went through with the parks.Im also really happy Dan had you there and that he's doing better now.
I did the Grand Canyon Hike in April, 2023. One of the best in the world indeed.
It is so beautiful , I can understand how you feel.
Wow. Will be watching many times.
I love that! Thanks!

Merry Christmas, Eric. This one will take me a while to watch, but I will enjoy it all. Thank you.

I did the Mount Everest trek midwinter by myself in '76. I survived but two ppl I met didn't. If you do it, prepare well...
Around the world: US, Alps and 1 country in Africa. Feels like some music band organizing world tour :D
Love it

The Grand Canyon is still such a beautiful place! Thanks and Merry Christmas!
this has to be your best work yet....
My dude - you can’t spell beautiful without the U!
woof. well that's a poop in the pants! I missed it on the intro!
Thanks @Eric Hanson for the video! I like. Which size of the Bridger 55 is it, Medium or Large? Thank you.

Nice video! How about Romania?
What is the trail in the Superstitions called?
22:13 dude hitting a joint in the background?
scene on 2:03:58, is that green screen?
Fuck yes!!!! This is perfect
I like the energy!
So Eric Hanson went to Washington DC. Hope he wore body armor and packed heat.

No love for Newfoundland?

Where’s the hiking asmr?!
Big US Geography bias. You can hide all of Alaska into a small corner of russia
I thought it was a video of peaceful hiking but all I heard was music
But they are good music and suits the mood of the landscapes!
Needs more Megadeth.
@@LifeConsistsOfWildness 😄 that’s on my workout playlist lol
beautiful Eric! Although I would'nt mind a year-end special of a wedding vlog! God bless and keep em coming
haha! hmmm, not planning on a wedding video. But I will be making a honeymoon backpacking video!
@@eric_hanson even better…haha
Sweden has a long thruhike called Via Suecia, runs the length of the country. Worth having a look at! (I did it in 2020).

Incredible, Eric! One of the best things I watched on TH-cam in all of 2023.
Hello

Where are you from

I get really nervous watching the grand Kenyon part and knowing what happened to you there.
Love the video, please keep making those.

Hi Eric can you tell me what brand gaiters are those at 8:30 they look high quality ?
What month was your hiking through the Grand Canyon?
