  • Backpacking Africa from Cairo to Cape Town #1
    We were amazed by the beauty of the country and the generosity of its people. We hope it transpires in this video.
    Jordan was actually the first country of our "world tour". We ended up spending an extra week there, volunteering in the Wadi Rum with the bedouins. If we take the time, there will be a dedicated video about that soon. We then crossed to Egypt by ferry, where we are now.
    If you want to follow all our adventures, we post daily on instagram (@lisaandpol) and plan on releasing more videos, so subscribe to the channel if you liked this one :)

    Go to the Arab city of love, in whose oasis the story of Jamil Buthaina and Kathir Azza took place. She is called the Bride of the Mountains, as well as the Country of Civilizations.

      Abha in Saudi Arabia right ?

    • @user-kj8yl6sn2z
      @user-kj8yl6sn2z 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@LisaAndPol no, AlUla is the city of love, the bride of the mountains and the country of civilizations, Jeddah the bride of the Red Sea, Abha the mistress of the fog.
      I suggest that you visit Riyadh at the end of February with the Riyadh winter season and its many activities, then visit AlUla with the Tantora Winter Festival, and visit Jeddah with its beautiful winter weather, which is famous for its many beautiful restaurants and beautiful islands such as Bayada Island and nearby Umluj Islands, one of the most beautiful islands in the world.
      Abha is the summer resort for Saudis. With high temperatures, we go to the city of Abha in the summer

    Thanks for sharing your experience in Jordan, truly a beautiful contry. If you dont mind me asking how much did the 10 day tour of jordan cost, i might set plans to visit there one day.

      Hey, thanks for watching !
      So usually we track our spendings with an app (travelspend), so we have a perfect idea of all the costs, but for these first 10 days of our world tour, we were travelling with Lisa's parents and we only logged what we paid ourselves.
      The global estimation, with everything included (flight tickets, visas, everything) is in our opinion around 3000€ for the 4 of us for 10 days. We were not really trying to save as much as possible and treated ourselves a few times, although the accomodations were rather on the budget side. We did do a few costly activities like the canyoning (22JOD/person), the red sea resort (20JOD/person), Petra of course, and the day pass in Aqaba.
      The car rental was 35JOD/day, and the petrol was quite cheap (100€ for the 10days).
      We saved many stories from Jordan in a story highlight on our instagram (lisaandpol), and we do a recap of the itinerary, budget and many things, we think it can be a useful ressource for planning your trip :)
      We really recommend visiting ! A week is probably the most common duration for tourists, but it was enjoyable to have the extra days to relax a bit.
      There are also a town or two in the north of Amman that could be interesting to check out, depending on your interests.

    This looks amazing, thank you for sharing. Where did you stay in Wadi Rum and how did you book the desert tours?

    • @LisaAndPol
      @LisaAndPol  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks !
      We stayed with Star City Camp Wadi Rum, you can find them on Booking if you want. All the tours can be directly arranged with the accomodation you choose, in advance or also when you get at the camp. The norm with these Bedouin camps in the desert is that you have to book an activity with them in order to not pay the 4x4 transfer to and from the camp.

      We booked on Booking, the name is "Hobbit village", or you can try directly through Instagram: @hobbits.village
      But they are very popular and often booked out, so anticipate as much as you can :)

      So we had a rental car for the 10 days (which we recommend), and we parked in front of the main mosque in the Dana village. From there it's a short walk to all the accomodations.

    how did you book the wadi rum tours?

    • @LisaAndPol
      @LisaAndPol  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey, so usually the accommodation will offer the tours, that's the way they make money. There is a huge competition that drives the prices very low (less than 10$ a night on occasions), but in exchange they expect you to book a jeep tour, camel ride or a hike with them. If you don't they will charge you a fee for transporting you from the Wadi Rum village to the camp ...
