    This is one of the greatest guitar lines ever, Keith Richards opening is unbelievable, and Mick Tayler's solo in the second half is increadably smooth.

      Are you sure Kieth Richard played on this ... according to the story I read this song was recorded without keith Richards knowledge. Despite the songwriting credits it was a jagger / Taylor composition and the song ended before the jam at the end ... they just let the tape roll while the band continued and they decided to keep it in the song. Keith might have added a his guitar as an overdub ... I know Mick Jagger plays guitar but not that well in 1970 ... but the main riff was Mick taylor

    Saw the saxophone... Bobby Keys.
    Then in Ronnie Wood at the Kingdome '81.

    What a great album “Sticky Fingers” is. So many great songs like “Sister Morphine” , “Dead Flowers” & “Wild Horses”. And, it has, “Brown Sugar”. I remember when me and my buddies first heard it. We it was awesome! Great choice to react to!

    This song has been one of my favorite songs ever, from any artist. Ever since the first time I heard it in 1971. Still sounds great all these years later.

    Everything on this track is fantastic!! Charlie Watts is one of the best pocket-drummers ever recorded, Keith' soloing in here is just what it needs to be; Mick's gritty vocal is always a fit; Just a terrific song. One of my favorite Stones songs and it's really hard to narrow them down!

    The second half of the song was accidental. They just kept on jamming and did not know that the tape was recording. Fortunately for us they kept it on the album. Great song, Kieth kicks ass at the start and Mick's solo in the second half makes the song.

    Funny thing is, this song was supposed to be a lot shorter, but they decided to jam at the end and it was so good they decided to add it as part of the song.

    Haven’t heard this song all the way through in years- what a classic! Such an incredible guitar riff- epic riffs are Kieth Richard’s specialty. You’re right- Mick’s pure charisma comes through 100%, and the song changes from the dirtiest sounding rock to smooth jazz.

    Keith Richards has said that the jam-out at the end was the Stones reaction to what Santana were laying down at the time. It was like, we'll show them how you really do it! You're spot-on about the drums....and Bobby Keys on Sax. He was something else.

    I agree with you about Mick Jagger. Also looking at the album cover I am reminded of Montley Crue's album cover for "To Fast For Love". I'm guessing that Montley Crue was inspired by The Rolling Stones cover.

    Oh yeah, Yoshi's. I'm from Berkeley so I know that place. Glad you did this great song. Suggestion: 2 more by the Stones; "Time (Is On My Side)" and "Time Waits For No One." You could do them both in the same reaction. Some day maybe you can also do some Weather Report, Pat Metheny, Jaco Pastorius, The Yellow Jackets etc.

    Yoshi's!!! On a trip to the Bay Area several years ago (just looked it up and it was 2005) my wife and I were lucky enough to see McCoy Tyner, Stanley Clarke and Billy Cobham on stage together. Amazing!!!! Oh yeah, The Stones are pretty good, too. Have seen them multiple times live as well. Keep up the great reactions!

    Love this album and love this song. You mention you were brought up on jazz - which is cool. Little known tidbit about this song is that Mick Taylor was channeling a song by a jazz great Chico Hamilton called A Trip. Check out the vibe and guitar played by a young Larry Coryell. Some of the licks are the same.

    The Stones were never my favorite band but this album is one of my all time favorites and this song in particular is a masterpiece! This album was in my opinion the Stones' version of Hotel California... this was their finest hour!

    I saw the Stones at Clemson’s Death Valley Stadium and Mick Jagger was absolutely non stop from the min. he walked on the stage till leaving. He never stayed in one place, constantly running from one side of the stage to the other. Totally amazing.

    I don't think Mick Jagger is a Freddy Mercury in his own band, rather Freddy is a Mick Jagger in Queen because he was there later. That doesn't mean that I don't like Freddy, but that Mick Jagger is a different frontman with completely different abilities.

      The Stones really didn't need a lot of help from outside musicians, but on this album, they had two of the very best - Bobby Keys sax solo is phenomenal and Billy Preston is an underrated giant in music with the work he did with the Stones and the Beatles and especially his solo work!
