There’s something very ‘Weekend at Bernies’ about the whole exercise. These characters seem ‘fun to spend time with’ the same way it would be fun to hang out with a Stepford wife. It’s like seeing the smiling, photogenic models in a Target commercial try to improvise a crime thriller on short notice. It’s so sterile, yet I nonetheless want to take a shower after seeing it. When I said I wanted compelling, dynamic NPCs in my video games, I didn’t mean ‘make me feel like someone has trapped a boiled down, neutered, hypnotised facsimile of human consciousness in my graphics card and forced it to do tricks for my amusement on threat of deletion’.
Not that I disagree with cloud computing becoming an existential problem for both ownership and preservation, but they specified in the video that this game is running locally on the GPU after moving away from the cloud.
At tome point the AIs will be so good, they will not need many parameters and can be run locally, or hardware will get so good, that running a 405b model will be easy to run locally. Prob a bit of both.
You can 100% tell what is being delivered by an AI bot. Versus a voice actor. They should be ashamed, that they aren't designing a game.... And making a talk to chat GPT activity...

AI is the future. It's like humanity rejecting the wheel or the steam engine! AI not only frees up time for creative tasks but also makes expensive tools accessible to smaller teams or independent creators, reducing inequality in access to technology. Using AI means investing in its development and innovation.
