I was born in Great Grimsby....lived in Peterborough for thirty years...now live in a beautiful village....but I remember Grimsby with lots of trees...a great place and hard working people....💖
Lol lots of trees? A great place? I'm pretty certain 80% of people are either drug dealing or drug using. So many single mothers with kids to different dad's just to keep the benefits rolling in.. there's glass and rubbish just all over the place 🙄 Even local kids park are just covered in graffiti and so damaged that they don't bother repairing them anymore.. I could literally rant about it longer I will spare you that grief
Day 2 of Exploring Yorkshire and the Humber was yet another very enjoyable Vlog to watch G Grimsby Town Railway Station certainly has some nice architecture the footbridge over the railway lines as a example I’ve never visited Cleepthorpes before but it definitely looks like a really nice beach to walk along and it was fantastic to see the pier there looking in very good condition I continue to enjoy watching your Vlogs G and I look forward to seeing Day 3 of your adventure until then carry on being awesome keep up the good work take care and stay safe
It honestly a nice line had been to Habrough a few times and liked Grimsby Town Station but in the future the Class 68s with the MK5s will be operating services to Cleethorpes which is why you saw one at Habrough, great video G.
Aww gee G., It stayed dry all day, so it couldn't have been all that 'grim' (could it?); AND you remained smiling and cheerful throughout.... So, from where I watched this vlog, I felt your stopovers 'n your presentation were anything but GRIM! 🙂. PJ x
I last visited Grimsby and Cleethorpes back in the late 1980s. Used to date a girl from Scunny. I see that Grimsby still lives upto its name, though at least you were there to cheer things up. Love the way you say Cleethorpes...in fact I love your accent for the way you say everything. Humberside ( South Yorks/ Lincolnshire whatever identity it uses today) was always cold/chilly, even in the middle of summer. And like you discovered, the trains seemed to lack people. Another great vlog G, loving everyone so far. Good work, Ray x
Hey G great video I have been too Grimsby and Cleethorpes many times luv but not the other stops ...... Also G it's lovely for walking round too love the video again stay safe x 😊💯
That was brilliant G, loved it. You are right, you can't beat a walk on the beach to end a day! I remember Cleethorpes from summer days out as a child. Looking forward to your next film.
3:06 haha that transition of you picking up that 10p then the next shot of the train made it look like you missed the train because you got distracted by the dropped change lol
Found your channel through another vlogger, it's awesome. Have just binged on the North West and North Wales series over the last week or so. I think you struck lucky with the EMR service - I've tried to do Habrough - Barton-on-Humber twice and both times it's been short notice bus replacements.
How many times did you say "156473" I wonder?! Never seen Cleethorpes or Grimsby before so they were good to get a look at. That really was one empty train!
I was born in Kent street ,right next to Grimsby Dock Station, In the fifties and sixties it was a beautiful Station, with about 6 staff and flower beds etc. The royal hotel was across the road and it's leisure garden just to the back of the station. It's on the next street to the famous Freeman Street. When I was about five I often went to the shops for my granny, and I got to know most of the shop keepers there. If I went to the sweet shop I would be ask my opinion on new sweets. And spent about an hour there getting my fill. The butchers was my grandpa's friend, and I used to get a sausage roll there. There literally was a pub and a chip shop on every corner ,and that area was alive and vibrant. Then the blue meanies arrived in the form of town unplanners. They decided to knock all the good house down all around Freemo as we called it. And make it a light industrial estate. It destroyed the heart of the place and all the people were shipped out to new estates. The area never did thrive after that and the industries never arrived until about 40 years later. So please don't knock Grimsby. It was in the fifties a quaint and beautiful place. They screwed up the top town and Freemo. And it's never stopped. Now Freemo is one long line of pizza and barbers shops, little Muslim town now. Sad and sadder
Im doing a visit all stations in the UK and seems your almost doing the stations recently just before me... good insight thanks for my trip up there at some stage..
Hello G, you really do have a superpower, you make the mundane interesting and fun, some of the worst stations you have visited on your vlogs and yet it is still fascinating to watch, hope you found somewhere to recharge your phone. A walk along a beach is ALWAYS a good way to end. Looking forward to the next one, stay safe.
If you think Grimsby is grim, try going for a walk around Goole, I lived in Grimsby and now live in Goole and Goole is the pits. The only reason anyone would want to go to Goole would be if they wanted to shop at an Eastern European mini-market as there is just about one every other shop. Grimsby is like Las Vegas compared to Goole.
@@chrisdavies73 filmed from a class 141 pacer The only thing notable in Goole is the "salt and pepper pots" as they are known locally (actually water towers), directly in front at 2:25 To be fair, when I made a brief visit to Goole about 7 or 8 years ago there was a nice fish and chip shop not far from the station
Hi. I've only recently discovered your videos & am enjoy them very much. Not just for the railway but also you are a very entertaining lady. Thanks for the grill videos, keep up the good work.
Lovely Vlog by a cheerful bright soul who greatly inspires train travel. Love these quiet clean looking trains she's on . I must take a ride on one of these quiet trains to Grimsby soon!
Even Grimsby Dock Station was alive then and it had beautiful buildings all around there. You know it once had one of the longest platforms in England.
It's Grim up north😂 You will enjoy Saltmarshe G. Fascinating station👍 You have lovely eyes and a friendly face😎 Keep sharing your adventures.I have followed you since lockdown and your channel is great entertainment.
Thanks for the video G, went to Grimsby and Lincoln in 1983 what a tip Grimsby Station was, great fun on the diesel locomotives. I think class 47,the place looks cleaner now well run down when I was there. Take care 🙂!!😎🚃🚃🇬🇧💙
Most of the stations between Grimsby and Barton-on-Humber just serve tiny villages, which is why the 156 you were traveling on was so quiet You did well to visit so many dodgy stations in one day
Funnily enough I wondered where everyone was in Hull, turns out it was Wetherspoons! You'll love Scarborough! I just wish I took the train there myself. You've got to get view of the sea under the bridge from the hill behind it.
In South Africa we, in Cape Town area get up at 5.30 am in summer to road walk for exercise, there are lots of people around. We were the only people around 2 hours later in most English places we have visited they are like ghost towns.
Great vlog G. I’ve been to Cleethorpes once or twice but not done any of the other stations. It does look abit grim around lol. I enjoyed watching as always!
Did this run earlier in the year to Cleethorpes, although there are direct trains to Grimsby from Nottingham we changed at Haborough to get a cheaper fare, it wasn't a long wait as I recall, and I love Cleethorpes to bits, thanks for the vlog, always entertaining :)

I'm happy to see that you learned it is H(ay)brough. The station name has confused several visitors being called Habrough (with a hard A) or Harbrough. It is true that the East Midlands Railways (EMR) now works the once Northern Trains service between Cleethorpes and Barton-upon-Humber. Whether Northern will resume operating trains over the route to Cleethorpes is uncertain as Northern services are suspended until further notice. As to the Barton service, you are unable to complete a station by station tour as Barrow Haven is presently closed for reconstruction
We used to drive from Surrey to Barnetby to watch the freight trains pass through to and from Immingham Docks back in the mid 80s. It was non stop freight activity in those days. There's more to see only a short walk from Cleethorpes station. Blackpool and Skegness it isn't, but it has it's own quaint charm, and one of the few places you can see the sea (actually the Humber Estuary) from the station.
Brilliant video G, nice to see my local TOC EMR feature alot in this and Class 156's are good, shame Northern have been knicking mine lol. I guess this is the first time the knickers song has been done at an EMR station? Also I've heard Grimsby exists but everyone has been saying it's quite grim, dunno whether I should go since it's possible for me to get a single train all the way there from Leicester. The beach at Cleethorpes looks nice though. :)
What do you think of Grimsby. Most people say it’s pretty “grim” in Grimsby but actually it’s not and is a very nice seaside town in Northeast Lincolnshire. Northeast England is pretty grim but most of it is very picturesque. Also there once was a railway line that went to Grimsby from Skegness that served the small Lincolnshire town of Louth but sadly its not there anymore.
Fantastic video G this route has gradually got quieter over the years sometimes cleethorpes can be busy mainly school holidays ive never got off the train at grimsby all the other stations look like they get very few people ❤❤
Great video, G! Even though the stations and the area weren't the most spectacular, you still made this a very enjoyable way to spend ten and a bit minutes. Also, nice to see a couple of TPE-run stations because I think there have only been a couple of those in your previous series!
Love the video, I'm a guard for EMR and the barton line which featured in this video is my local route. It's the quietest on the network but certainly is the best from our point of view. Enjoyed the vid, sounds like you didn't much enjoy our neck of the woods! Yes it is a quiet part of the world! Unfortunately the New Clee and Grimsby Docks area of the town have been run down for many years now following the collapse of the fishing industry in the 70s and no subsequent investment. I'm amazed the train stations are still open. Grimsby Town centre and Cleethorpes are nicer areas though...
Great video G . Have I missed Skegness or is it still to come. Many years of travelling on ECML to stay with my Aunt and Uncle there in the 1970s journey was on a Deltic and a 2 carriage DMU
One of my earliest memories is going under that pedestrian underpass in Grimsby! Cleethorpes Beach is always a great place to go for a walk - if you walk right down the end of the prom there's also a miniature steam railway which takes you along the slightly wilder part of the foreshore
Wow your videos are so good. I live in Grimsby. It`s not necessarily my subject matter but I do have a passing interest in train stations. Have you been to Berney Arms station will post you my video which is terrible compared to yours ?Did manage a 20k view one though.Send you a link.
This video went by much faster than I was expecting (not in a bad way, mind). Indeed, I was surprised when she started her outro. And meanwhile, in an alternate dimension, G is falling for 156473 instead of 175109.
Cheeky bugger, Grimsby is great, and the surrounding area is beautiful. Try the hills. Yes we do have some, and I live next to them, 5 miles from Grimsby centre. Seeing some of the places you visit and live, please don't knock us. We don't have to speak a foreign language to live in our area.hohoho
The good thing about missing a week of viewing is the fact that I got to binge watch the first two episodes of this new series 😊 I am in love with Yorkshire already ❤

Hi I'm a retired signalman worked on the North Clyde lines, I have been enjoying watching your videos and your enthusiasm for the railway.😁👍
Great vlog G!
Loving the new series!

Nice vlog. I live in 'grim' Grimsby, actually a few hundred metres from the Grimsby Docks station on Freeman Street

Ah that's why it was out of service lol, thanks Cyber!
It's a lovely little tearoom at Grimsby. I've only ever whizzed past most stations, so thank you for getting off 😀and taking the time to film them.
I love your energy. Going back through your videos is a ton of fun to watch :)
Brilliant video G! Really enjoyed this, great to see my local station featured
Lol Gloves Trains if known u was around would have met up lol as live locally
Any day with trains and the sea is a good one. I have never explored that part of the coast. Perhaps I now should!
Or perhaps go some other coastal place 😜😂
brilliant vlog Cleethorpes beach looks amazing and im loving Habrough Grimsby town & Grimsby docks lovely route keep up the awesome work
A walk along the beach IS the best way to end a day! Thanks for taking us along!
YES no worries 😀
Omg! I only know Cleathorpse from my train simulation game! Hope you get a chance to check out the light railway on town!
Stayed overnight at Grimsby recently, at the Wetherspoons hotel next to the train station :) Was a quiet train for me too coming from Doncaster.
Oooh, my original home town, born and bred in Cleethorpes so know this line very well
Did you go to clouds...?.. the sub..dolphin or vic...many years ago...🙈☺️
Another super vlog again G,they never disapoint wherever you go. Good to see you have some nice new knickers on your head. Stay safe.
Always a delight to watch your vblog G that 156473 was your best friend for most of your trip! Glad u got the sea view at the end of your journey 👍🙂

Thanks a lot, Ray. Grimsby really is one of the most aptly named places 👌😂
We're Lincolnshire always have been, nothing to do with Yorkshire, and the Humber is a river that separates Lincolnshire from East Yorkshire.
Hey G great video I have been too Grimsby and Cleethorpes many times luv but not the other stops ...... Also G it's lovely for walking round too love the video again stay safe x 😊💯

Awesome video. Nice to see more stations I haven't done.
Great video G. Looks like you had fun. Soon have 68s at Cleethorpes which is exciting.
The 68s have been here a while but not sure when they enter service, nice to see they run ROG ones aswell as TPE sometimes
“It’s Grimsby up north”
Another excellente video from you as always G 😊
3:06 haha that transition of you picking up that 10p then the next shot of the train made it look like you missed the train because you got distracted by the dropped change lol
Great video ❤
Enjoyed watching - didn’t get the “put your knickers on yer head” however great video - liked and subbed
I’m using this line between Grimsby and Lincoln today, I’m from Grimsby good bacon butties at the cafe, you’re welcome back to Town anytime.

What ticket do you use when you’re going back and forth along a line? Is it valid on an anytime/off-peak return or do you need a ranger/rover?
Either 👍
Cheeky bugger, Grimsby is great, and the surrounding area is beautiful. Try the hills. Yes we do have some, and I live next to them, 5 miles from Grimsby centre. Seeing some of the places you visit and live, please don't knock us. We don't have to speak a foreign language to live in our area.hohoho
Are these help points solar paneled ?
😃👍🏻
Ok I'm new to the channel (but it's great) is wearing your knickers on your head a recurring theme? I was laughing so hard
Yup!
The good thing about missing a week of viewing is the fact that I got to binge watch the first two episodes of this new series 😊 I am in love with Yorkshire already ❤
I echo your sentiments but where G was is Lincolnshire.
