I am 66 years young. I used to be skilled make up artist; as time passed, I realized that money is just a way of surviving. I went back to nursing and have been taking care of the elderly for over 25 years; caring for others it’s just great, but I totally forgot about myself. I don’t wear make up, I don’t look as neat and professional as I used to be back in the days. I decided to start retraining myself in order to be able to look my best again. I appreciated from the bottom of my heart everything you taught today, for sure I have become one of your new fans. Have a Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous 2021, please stay safe and continue to take great care of yourself, you are just beautiful! 🙏🌹❤️🥰
I feel you!!! I am a mechanic’s assistant and work with my husband. We own a small marine engine repair business. So, since I am constantly covered in grease and wearing men’s clothing, I really like to wear makeup to work just so people still know i am female and don’t PURPOSELY want to look grody!!! It’s just part of the job, lol! And having just turned 40, and never having been big into makeup or in a position to afford many cosmetics, I need all the help I can get now!!! I absolutely feel you here and it def makes us feel so much better about ourselves to be able to hold our heads up high.
Drink jello in any flavor at night in hot water. Will get you started and we can all afford jello. Youll be amazed how hair, skin, nails and joints will feel! drink tons of water. It also helps a great deal in appearance. It helps shed water gain. Good luck
Gabriel Perez sometimes when taking care of others which i love to do as well we do kinda put ourselves on the back burner so to speak a friend DR once told me it's ok we have to take care of us,it's needed to take two steps back when we can, i got back into wearing my makeup again just to pamper, thanks for what you do and yes she made another great video i just found 💘
Thank you for this tutorial! I'm 42 and I can't follow a 20 year olds makeup tutorial because our skin is totally different. I'm so excited to binge all your content!
I appreciate that you dont yell at your viewers through the camera or over exaggerate your words, be unnecessarily enthusiastic like a lot of youtubers do now.
I have a tip to keep eyelashes curled, no matter what mascara you use. After curling lashes, apply mascara to tips only. Let dry completely then apply to the rest of the lashes. They will stay curled!
You and me both, I hardly bothered with anything, didn't even start menopause until 58/59....finally finished at 60 and suddenly, boom, dry skin, thinning hair, wrinkles!! It was like it happened overnight!! So now it's creams and moisturiser, face masks and hair products....and I've started wearing make-up more often...but I still think my skin is better than many my age, but I like to watch all the tutorials and get the most tips I can to fend off 'old age' as long as possible. 😊😅
RISA!!!!NICE JOB HERE!!!!..I'm a makeup artist and am VERY IMPRESSED with your tutorial. You truly are an expert and talented at your craft.I'll be following you in the future ...ps, I'm almost 60 and THIS TUTORIAL WORKS PERFECTLY FOR GIRLS MY AGE!!! LOVE AND LIGHT..THANKS💜💜💜
Gabriel said a lot for me at 76. I was a sun goddess on the tennis court and golf range. I did have a successful career in real estate and still do. I wore sun screen on my body and Bare Minerals on my face, mascara and eye liner. I realized I had to up my game. Been watching UTube to learn and taking notes with a long list of what to buy too complicated. I will do a screen shot of your products and go buy them tomorrow ❤️
As a truck driver, female and 50 yrs I have recently been working on my skin care and makeup has started to play a huge part of my routine. I want to say thank you so much for your videos. You have certainly been an inspiration.
I’m 36 and omg I love your videos! I’ve been binge watching for this past week. I don’t know why but for some reason I got a hair up my butt and at 36 decided I want to learn how to do my makeup. I don’t like watching people my own age as I think they can be a little ridiculous and I feel like my skin is already maturing. It’s fascinating all the trickery in makeup skills. I have a lot to learn and I feel like a chemist in my bathroom every morning. I do feel like my great obstacle right now is finding a foundation. Everything oxidizes on me (I think that’s actually why I gave up on makeup as a teen. So tired of searching for the right shade). The struggle is really real but I’m gaining so much knowledge from watching you and I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate you. I learned a ton just from this video alone! Have a blessed day.
Really happy I came across this video..need all the help I can get..im 54 an do use makeup just like the natural look more..especially since I'm getting older!! Yes☺
Fab. Lash princess is amazing and I am like you too- so many things irritate my eyes and then I look like I have been crying at the end of the day. Love your videos
Risa, this is such a great affordable kit, & so versatile for use by anyone! 😊👍🏻 I have to say... You are the one that convinced me to try the Milani Conceal + Perfect Longwear Concealer when it first came out, & I am forever grateful! 😇💕 It is my favorite concealer ever, & works so well for covering my dark circles (& helping minimize the look of eye bags a bit too ) from hypersomnia. I'm 50, & I find it doesn't look dry either. I normally prefer really colorful makeup, but on those days when I'm feeling more of a neutral vibe, that Wet n Wild "Glamour Squad" palette is indeed beautiful. 🤩 Thanks for this video & all the great recommendations of quality products that will work better for those of us who are a bit older &, as a result, have some different makeup requirements. 😊💕💜💗 💄🌹🌹🌹
Enjoyed watching this video as for a 55 yr old I really loved wearing makeup in my early teens and in my early twenties and as life took me from wearing makeup with a busy lifestyle with children and just being a busy mum not being able to wear makeup for many yrs loved watching doing a beginner's tutorial on putting on all that lovely makeup again thank you and using stuff that is so affordable love it
Yes I can totally relate 2 this; I have a 10yr old, 4yr old & 3yr old so I mainly drool over these videos & save them 4 just in case occasions lol.. We're all learning 2gether regardless of age.. Hope u feel beautiful 2day❤
@@jennybeam7226 hello hope u have a beautiful day 💞too funny I do the same thing I save the videos and watch them over and over again and now bought a new selection of make up which some I have been practicing well after having 6 children oldest is 34 and youngest 12 haven't had too much time with makeup and hairstying and now we are wearing masks which isn't much fun when we have foundation all on the inside lol Thank you for sharing and hope to talk to u again 🌷💞
@@jojorussell9336 hello Jojo well I have recently bought Revlon age defying 3x beige as I dont go in the sun much and used to be a dark tan olive skin but now since menopause is now taken over everything has changed even skin texture used to have oily skin but now dry hope u can help🌷
This was great. I'm 41 and don't wear any makeup and wanted to start with something to look more put together. I was going to go to Sephora and spend way too much money because I need help with what to get but I think I'll start with your suggestions and save myself a ton of money. I just wish I knew how to pick the right shades for foundation and concealer.
Loved the step by step and the fact that you incorporated drug store brands that we all have easy access to and are very affordable. Thanks Rosa! I really needed the tutorial.
Excellent video! Agree totally about the Wet n Wild lipsticks. They are soooo good for the price, but I wish they'd roll all the way down into the tube. I've put so many dings into the bullet already....my fave is Bare it All!
Hi Risa! You are beautiful and I really appreciate your content. I am 40 years and on a budget and you really inspired me to try drugstore makeup again. There are some great options in the drugstore I just need to give them a try. Thanks to you I will!! Many Blessing to you!
Covergirl ultra fine pencil for brows, peach foundation to conceal the dark circles, and that great eyeshadow color pallet. Could also be used for face contouring.
OMG Risa...I have to watch you more often. I am not a beginner for makeup, yet I have the desire to follow your video to the T with my makeup. We are in the same color range and your choices in the video were so beautiful. Yet, a natural not overdone level. Thank you much!
Your tips are so helpful to me. I'm 46 years old and have very oily skin so it's nice to see how to apply makeup and it actually looks great. Thank you for your tips. Your beautiful and I just love watching all your tips. Your my favorite .
Wow! I stumbled upon this video and was blown away with how outstanding it was! You are very talented, down to earth, easy to watch and the results are outstanding! You're absolutely beautiful! Thank you!
Nice video! Could u recommend eyeshadow brand that has “light satin” finish ? The shimmers exaggerates my crepey eyelids. Have been searching for ones that have the slightest bit of sheen...
Your make up looks great. The eyeshadow colors you chose really brought out your eye color. The video you did on "smile" works great for the brows. Milani baked blushes are my go to. Great video
I love this video, Risa! But I have to disagree with you; in my eyes you are not retired. You will always be a makeup artist to me. Your eyes see and observe things that I cannot; that is truly gift, especially to those of us over 40. Keep up the amazing work, girl! ❤❤
New subscriber here! I am 48 and haven't taken care of my skin or used make up since my first pregnancy in 1997. Empty nester and ready to take care of my face and get spiffed up again! Thanks so much!❤🙂
What I love about this video is that your actually putting the makeup on while recommending them. Bc I’ve seen so many of these drugstore recommendation videos but their not actually doing the steps so we can see them in use. Great video!!
*Yes, yes* ❣💯👍🏼 Milani has some of my fav 😍 products... the usual suspects that you've featured here.. but also love their *CBD infused mist* 💚 And the rose 🌹 one is nice too. 👍🏼❣💯
I just got the Maybelline cheek tint... and it doesn't show up as nicely on tan/ deeper complexions... 💘 a subtle glow, yes. But it doesn't give the same pop of color, as it does on you.
Best video ever👍 I have a makeup bag I travel with and I always forget to include certain things I need .......this is a great way to have a bag ready to go with all your essentials thank you so much and I’m glad your using drugstore instead of high end makes one motivated and not worry about forgetting something because we all like to be beautiful no matter where we go camp, vacations, and last minute getaways.....heck I might pack 2 (home and travel) thank you again for all you do💕
I love the L’Oreal Pro Glow that you recommended in another video. It really has a nice feeling and doesn’t dry out my face. The Maybelline Super Stay is another GREAT recommendation. Thank you!
The movers packed everything in my bathroom. I am looking at getting some of the make up you showed today. What kind of brushes do you like to use your eyes look amazing!
New subscriber here! I just did my makeup for a date night following your video (I'm 43!) and while I didn't have any of these products, I have to say your techniques with them were awesome! I feel glowy and fresh and not "made up"! Thank you!
Another golden winner! Looks so pretty on you as always Risa! My quick question Risa, can you please tell me where to find your “clear” makeup bag? Your clear makeup bag here is the one!!!! 🤗💜
I don't usually watch make-up videos but for some reason I watched this one today & I'm glad I did. I have been wondering about Milano make up for awhile. I've never tried it but I will now that I've heard someone else say it's good stuff. The fact that you're a retired make up artist tells me I can trust your opinion on that. Thank you!🙂
First of all, you are so beautiful, even without makeup. I have a lot of these products but will try some that I don't have. I'm not a beginner, but I've always used shadow for my eyeliner. I feel it is a less harsh look and easier than using a pencil or liquid. Thanks so much for all your suggestions, and I can't wait to try them!
I am so glad I found your channel Risa! Thank you for the amazing tutorial! I am 47 and I do not wear make up on a regular basis but I want to start and your video was so inspiring and made me feel more confident! I didnt even know how to start LOL before this video!
The look came out beautiful! You took us to school on this one 😂😂, a Master class...Thank you for the great tips..❤️ Do you have one like this on high end products?
I just accidentally stumbled across this video. I'm a long time makeup fanatic who after turning 50, has not been able to find a good foundation. High end foundations cost anywhere from $38 to $60 so I can't try that many. I wish more companies had samples to try the products instead of them randomly included as perks with purchases from stores like Ulta or Sephora! Except makeup counters, but the last time I went to Estee Lauder to try on the Double Wear everyone is taking about, she slathered my face so heavy, I could not wait to come home & wash it off!! Anyway, I do have a point! With the foundations you recommended I can try them without breaking the bank!! Thank you!
You can always return makeup that doesn’t work out for you 🙂 If you don’t like the shade or product in general, don’t feel obligated to keep it just because it’s used. Sephora, Ulta, department store makeup counters and even drugstores let you return used makeup. Sephora and Ulta have really good return policies too. You have 60 days to return a product for a full refund and anything over 60 days you can exchange it for another product. Also, you can totally ask for foundation and skincare product samples at Ulta and Sephora (high end makeup not drugstore products). Ask for as many foundation samples as you’d like in order to find your perfect shade. That way you won’t have to deal with the hassle of returns and exchanges.
Risa , I love this video so much !!! I'm 52 , trying to start using make up again , and step by step I think I can do this and can definitely afford it ! Thank you so much for sharing !!! I love all your videos . If you ever need a model for mature skin , I'm your gal 😁 God Bless you ❤
Risa hi!! EXCELLENT idea EXCELLENT video EXCELLENT products!!! I am 49 have the exact skin as yours my skin tone is different but i adore your channel your recommendations and the makeup i've bought upon them are INCREDIBLE!!! Thank you sooo much!!! Have a great weekend❤️❤️❤️😘
Hi Risa! Boy oh boy I'm glad I clicked on your video. I've been skipping all of the drugstore kit videos because everyone was so young. Yours is spectacular. I even found some new products I need to try. That particular wet and wild eyeshadow palette really piqued my interest. That purpley taupe is right up my alley and looks gorgeous on you. I'm interested in that cream cheek blush and the highlighter too oh my goodness your cheeks looks so plump that I just want to reach through the TV and just squeeze your cheeks. 💗 LOL great video
LOVE the Catrice foundation. I have ultra problematic skin, a lot to hide and everything disappears from my face or gets cakey. I haven't found anything better and recently I chose it over ELDW. I really love how runny, light and buildable it is!
Love your videos. Being over 50 it's nice seeing your makeup videos for us gals (and I have hooded eyes so your videos are a win-win for me). Can you do a full face of ELF makeup and skincare.
Catrice has been knocking it out of the park as of late. Never, even in my youth, had any luck with liquid liner. Have used a firm, angled brush, the kind you get with a lot of brow powder, and black, dark brown, even a dark blue eye shadow as liner. It's easy, gives a slightly softer yet dramatic look. Shared the technique with a shakey handed friend. She found it worked well for her. Works well on older crêpey lids too.
I'm 47 and never wear makeup up but with this pandemic I wanted to try something new to help lift my spirits. I think this will do! Thanks for catering to use more nature ladies... ;)
This is such a good video. My mom taught me nothing about make-up (or anything else). I've learned the little I know by myself. I always get complimented on my subtle cat eye but, I'm always confused by bronzer and blush. so, thank you. You look amazing.
Love this! Those Maybelline glosses are my new FAV!! Bought 3 each of the 2 shades I love. Can you do a updated high end beginner set or do you already have one? Or mostly cream products set? Powders just aren’t my friend having dry skin/oily T-zone now that I’m older. I know your oily so understand if you don’t want to. Just enjoy you! ❤️
This is a great video! Thank you! I'm 40 and I need to know how to apply makeup to my skin at this age. You give a great list of products I can buy at the drugstore. I can't wait to try them out!
I have finally found my holy grail concealer thanks to YOU!! I was so skeptical since I have older under eyes and 24 hr wear sounded so drying. But shut the front door, such amazing results. THANK YOU!!! You never steer us wrong.
Oh Risa! So right! I recognize some old favourites- Milani eye primer and Revlon Candid that I just don’t live without. I just bought my 5th or 6th tube of that eye primer and my 3rd Candid regular foundation.
I really appreciate this video. I rarely wear makeup since I'm home often plus I don't know how to apply. Except for the basics. I would like to wear makeup occasionally but don't know how. I have NO skills beyond mascara and basic foundation. Rarely have I used primers and the like. Other videos have you spending TONS of money on just prepping the skin. This video has shown you can still get the look, but affordably. One day, I'll try eye shadow😏. Not easy with smallish eyes.
I also highly recommend the Dr Pen or the Derminator (I have both, but love my Derminator more) for micro needling the scalp for hair loss. My hair was thinning out so much that I had bald spots, but, after micro needling my scalp using COS De Baha HA with my Derminator, my scalp now has thick hair growing all over it and I no longer have any thinning or bald spots.
Thank you for making this video! I’m 46 and just learning how to apply makeup. I don’t know what took so long! I too have hooded eyes but I’m half Asian so you can’t see my mobile lid AT ALL. I’m learning a lot from you so I appreciate your time and effort!
Risa this video is definitely needed and I’m so glad you are doing the drugstore version! I am 40 and only started using make up about five years ago so definitely still a beginner but not interested in overpriced make up so thank you very much for this video
Reading your comment is exactly "Me" except I started at age 40. Always looking for affordable options because still consider myself a beginner. Refreshing to read that I'm not alone.
Thank you for the tight lining tip, I’ll have to get an Almay eye pencil. I stopped tight lining because I was using a gel liner, and like you mentioned it was bothering my eyes 💕

so true and I especially appreciate that there is no "valley girl" blathering of uptalk and using "like" before every word,
my mum use to say "if you havent got anything good to say dont say anything at all". its nice to be nice.
I have a tip to keep eyelashes curled, no matter what mascara you use. After curling lashes, apply mascara to tips only. Let dry completely then apply to the rest of the lashes. They will stay curled!
That totally works. Cool tip!
I think it's because the tiny amount of mascara dries rapidly.
The curl is hardened and the lashes are directed upward.
@@deedeeannash massive fan of doing this also as I’m not a fan of false lashes 👍
Interesting ❣😀

*Yes, yes* ❣💯👍🏼 Milani has some of my fav 😍 products... the usual suspects that you've featured here.. but also love their *CBD infused mist* 💚 And the rose 🌹 one is nice too. 👍🏼❣💯
I just got the Maybelline cheek tint... and it doesn't show up as nicely on tan/ deeper complexions... 💘 a subtle glow, yes. But it doesn't give the same pop of color, as it does on you.
Watching your tips/ insights... 💗 #soulcare
Been seeking that essence lash princess mascara *forever* ... and it's always sold out at my local drugstore... (shoppers drug store in Canada 🇨🇦 😑 🍁)
LOVE ♥️ you, Risa.
Thanks for the vid.
💚👍🏼
Agree, I LOVE the Catrice Liquid HD foundation! I buy it over and over again.
Do u know what shade she is wearing please
As I feel this is right for me
Thank you so much! I am 54 with dry skin. I love your channel, the products you show and your tutorials on how to apply.
Thanks for your help me a lot about looking after myself!!
Thank you!🙂
Milan is great stuff!!!
I love this video! I've had trouble getting my makeup to look right as my skin has aged, so you just threw me a lifeline!
Thank you! I am subscribing.
This is an Outstanding video. Cutting straight through to the best drugstore products relevant to over 40👍👋👋So Good
Love love love your recommendations and your enthusiasm! Your videos are fabulous!
I am so glad I found your channel Risa! Thank you for the amazing tutorial! I am 47 and I do not wear make up on a regular basis but I want to start and your video was so inspiring and made me feel more confident! I didnt even know how to start LOL before this video!
I bought the Milani Cheek Kiss a few weeks ago and love it! Even looks great on lips!
This is one of the best makeup videos I’ve seen on TH-cam...Thank You...I’m 50 plus years young
Thank you!
Itsy is good for trying high end samples. it is $12 a month tho.
Thank you so much for creating this video. Just what I needed, and especially for hooded, mature eyes. Love from Norway ❤
Risa , I love this video so much !!!
I'm 52 , trying to start using make up again , and step by step I think I can do this and can definitely afford it ! Thank you so much for sharing !!!
I love all your videos . If you ever need a model for mature skin , I'm your gal 😁
God Bless you ❤
Just found your channel. I’m 42 and desperately needed a makeup artist in my age range. You are gorgeous!!! Thank you!
Thank you for doing this video. We mature women need these kinds of good tips and demonstrations.
LOVE the Catrice foundation. I have ultra problematic skin, a lot to hide and everything disappears from my face or gets cakey. I haven't found anything better and recently I chose it over ELDW. I really love how runny, light and buildable it is!
Love her techniques and color choices
Wow! This was my first video and I love how easy your tutorial was to follow. My biggest problem right now is finding shades for my olive complexion.
You should try the L’Oreal eyelash primer prior to mascara-I use the same mascara & it works great. Big difference!
Yes love those glosses thanks to your recommendations!
Thanks for catering to use more nature ladies... ;)
I love the L’Oréal pro glow that’s what I’ve used for years it’s so pretty
This video is exactly what I needed! I've never worn too much makeup. Now that I'm over 40, I have no idea what to wear and what products to buy.
This is such a good video. My mom taught me nothing about make-up (or anything else). I've learned the little I know by myself. I always get complimented on my subtle cat eye but, I'm always confused by bronzer and blush. so, thank you. You look amazing.
Risa you’re so adorable and I love how you really want to help us out and teach us. I watch all of your videos and love you! Xoxox
Thank you so much!!
Have gotten into those Maybeline lip glosses, they are great 👍🏻
This is a great video! Thank you! I'm 40 and I need to know how to apply makeup to my skin at this age. You give a great list of products I can buy at the drugstore. I can't wait to try them out!
I LOVE the Loreal infalible. That foundation is sooo good. Better than higher end that I’ve tried.
I’m turning 36 tomorrow and I REALLY appreciated this video. Thank you!! 😃💖🤩
I seriously love that lip combination!
I bought the Milani eye primer this spring after one if your recs and I LOVE IT! thank you!!
1 word… GORGEOUS! ❤️
Risa please try the No 7 Lift and Luminate Foundation! This is my holy grail and I’m 37, I would love to see you try it and hear what you think!
This is really one of your best videos, Risa.
Thank you so much 😃
Great video. You make drugstore makeup look high-end, and your product recommendations are always very good. Enjoy your day!
Awesome video !! I love how you explained every step so well. Loved it Risa, Thanks 💖💖
WOW! Beautiful video!!! Ciao Risa!!! 🌹🌹🌹
Thank you for this! Can you do a drugstore skincare starter kit?
Risa this video is definitely needed and I’m so glad you are doing the drugstore version! I am 40 and only started using make up about five years ago so definitely still a beginner but not interested in overpriced make up so thank you very much for this video
Reading your comment is exactly "Me" except I started at age 40. Always looking for affordable options because still consider myself a beginner. Refreshing to read that I'm not alone.
ana torres Oh you’re definitely not alone! You should see my makeup video, it is pretty horrendous 🤷🏼♀️😏
@@anatorres4631 No way are you alone babe! Life happens, priorities change, etc. I can relate & hope u feel beautiful 2day❤
Thanks for this video I’m 46 and I always looked caked out. No more💗💗💗💗💗
Love the back
To
The basics!! Not everyone is glamming up these days , so this was a great tutorial 💖
Thank you for the tight lining tip, I’ll have to get an Almay eye pencil. I stopped tight lining because I was using a gel liner, and like you mentioned it was bothering my eyes 💕
I really like your way to make up!
Thanks Risa.
Radiant!!! I use a quick stick concealer in the morning just to get out the door. I slap some eye make up on.
It's always so helpful to hear about drugstore makeup. Some of us retired ladies cannot afford anything else, but we want to look great. Thanks.
