@SG-Gody they most definitely smile, the same way they cry. It never seizes to amaze me how humans can see animals doing something & swear that's not what's happening. I'll take it a step further & give them something to really laugh about 😉 Pigs have the same emotions & you can clearly see them smiling & even crying. They'll have trails from the tears coming from their eyes. Elephants & pigs are such soulful, emotional, magnificent beast❤

Yes, you’re so right about the pigs. Yes I have seen them do that too. When I was younger and growing up on the farm I brought up some piglets and they used to follow me around like puppy dogs and used to walk the boundaries of this 732 acre farm with the sheep dog the two pig and the cat. The two pigs even used to come swimming in the dam with me. They definitely smiled, cried and I know they used to laugh when they come up behind me and throw me off my feet They could also sit and fetch and do almost any thing a dog could do.

      Google Source:
rex roar from the film was a combination of a baby elephant's squeal, an alligator's gurgling, and a tiger's snarl. Its breath was the sound of air escaping a whale's blowhole. Drawing from these animals, you can almost hear the composite T. rex roar from the film.

Considering how quick and suttle changes they notice in other individuals and even in humans and how we humans often have a hard time picking up suttle emotions correctly, i claim their capability to be greater than ours(although this might be highly dependend on the sozio-culture in humans).
One interesting aspect is, that they keep their young between their legs in case of danger or uncertainty, considering their multi ton adult bodys could easily kill an newborn elephant by accident, the evolutionary pressure, to be incredibly aware of smaller elephants in your surrounding, is exceptionaly high, which would explain why they are so attentive, as long as you don´t harm or threaten them.
