  • Camilla Parker Bowles, the Queen Consort, celebrates her 76th birthday in style as she embraces her newfound popularity in Britain. But let's rewind a bit and see how Camilla went from being the least favored royal to a beloved Queen.
    Just a few years ago, the idea of Camilla becoming Queen seemed unthinkable. Queen Elizabeth II granted her the title of The Duchess of Cornwall, with the clear assertion that she would not be known as Queen - no coronation, no major royal duties. But Camilla had other plans. Instead of staying in the shadows, she boldly stepped into the limelight. She played a crucial role in Queen Elizabeth II's team, even becoming a member of the Privy Council. Last year, during her Platinum Jubilee, Queen Elizabeth II made a groundbreaking announcement, expressing her wish for Camilla to be known as Queen Consort when Prince Charles ascends to the throne. Her calendar is now filled with almost daily engagements and interactions with dignitaries worldwide. She even steps in for King Charles when he is unable to attend certain events, showcasing her reliability and commitment. As a philanthropist, Camilla brings attention to important issues such as supporting victims of assault and campaigning against domestic violence. Camilla has proven that she deserves her place on the British royal throne.

    After all the negative comments, 'hatred' and comparison to Princess Diana ( of which there was never any comparison) I think it's time to allow this woman, who certainly didn't set out to disrupt the British Royals intentionally, to go about her life with, clearly, her life time partner and if this means she's in a social position that many others are excluded from, so be it. Why hang on to the past when 'the past' in this case, is very emotional. That's just really unhealthy. From what I've read about her, she seems to be a decent, kind, thoughtful and caring person who has stepped into a role just like Catherine Middleton. They've both learned, and continue to learn, the required social skills and duties which come 'with the job". Additionally, why should other people care at this point who Charles wants to spend his time with? Why do other people think they are entitled to judging "his" relationship when Charles isn't judging theirs??!!😂

    I am pleased to see this video, which puts Queen Camilla in a very positive light, as she much deserves. However, Queen Elizabeth II did not grant her the title of The Duchess of Cornwall. It was one of her titles automatically derived from her marriage to Charles. She also was The Princess of Wales but chose not to use that title out of respect for Diana, a very humble and classy move.

      I wish people would remember that Charles and Camilla had a relationship way before Diana was ever in the picture. The ONLY reason he married Diana( who WAS lovely, beautiful and kind) was because the person who Charles HAD TO marry HAD to HAVE specific requirements for being considered suitable for a future king. Notice how MUCH things have changed NOW. So really, if you were to switch things around and Charles was where William is now, Charles could've married Camilla with no fuss and if it had been William at that time, he wouldn't have been able to marry Catherine because she wouldn't have had the right pedigree.

    I’m impressed with the way that Camilla represents sexually abused women and domestically abused women. I have heard her speak on these subjects and she sounds very sincere. I wonder how sincerely she spoke to Diana when Diana confronted the adulterers? What was it that Diana told us Camilla said? “Why couldn’t Diana be happy with her two sons and her title?” That is a very abusive way to treat the woman who lost Charles to selfish Camilla.
    Diana was born The Lady Spencer. She was abandoned by her mother and took over the responsibility for making sure her little brother felt loved and watched over. Just what support did Diana have when Charles became loud and proud about his mistress? Who in the royal family supported Diana? Most of them were green with envy by the absolute love she received from the public and the press.
    You know, my father cheated first on my mom, then his long-time girlfriend, followed by his second wife who was the mother of my half-brother and a loving and caring step-mom to me. Mom married a lovely man who treated us with respect and dignity. My dad? He did marry a third time but didn’t have time to cheat on wife #3 because he died from a grapefruit-sized cancerous tumor in this lungs. Cigarettes killed him.
    My life was shattered by infidelity when I was six years old in the early 1960’s. I was the only child in my elementary school whose parents were divorced. I was the child who heard other couples say “that’s the little girl whose parents are divorced.” I was the child who spent half of Christmas Day in a car so that I could visit grandparents, step-grandparents, etc. Instead of feeling loved and nurtured, I was the child whose parents bought gifts they couldn’t afford to try and win my love. They never lost my love, but I lost them while sitting in the backseat of a car most the day. I cannot imagine what it was like for William and Harry who now lived in a broken home, but were still expected to smile for the reporters who took their pictures. Can you imagine how much harder they had it?
    We don’t know how Charles and Diana acted out as their marriage imploded in the privacy of their home. But if you go back and look at the anger on Charles’ face every-time he spoke to Diana or looked towards her, those boys didn’t have any easy childhood. The kids don’t “get over it”. They learn to cope (like William), or flounder, like poor Harry.
    Part of why William does so well is the tutelage and love he receives from all of the Middletons. Harry was so much younger and didn’t have any real access to a loving role model. Not from Diana’s brother, Lord Spencer, Prince Charles, as he was known then, and certainly not from most of the Windsors. Then his Mum was dead and his dad married the woman who broke up his parents. It is unfortunate that Meghan doesn’t have the tools necessary to guide her own life, never mind Harry’s life. But Meghan came from a broken family too. I doubt their marriage will survive. I fear for Harry.
    Would Diana had lived if there was no Camilla to steal her husband? We cannot know that and we should not hold a grudge against Camilla because Charles thrives with her. We aren’t her judge. We do get the satisfaction of knowing the she is stuck in a marriage with a spoiled rotten man who falls apart when a little ink from a fountain pen stains his fingers.
    We should also remember our own glass houses and how many cracks there are in them due to our own imperfections. Yet, I miss Diana.

      I didn't read your entire comment.
      However....
      Diana and her brother had nannies. Diana was 6 years old when her mother left.
      ~~~~~
      Diana confronted Camilla in 1989.
      Charles and Diana were informally separated in 1986 when Charles became informed of Diana's relationship with her bodyguard. Diana was in love and involved with her bodyguard Barry Mannakee in 1985-1986. Charles ended his intimate relationship with Diana to protect the royal line of succession. Otherwise, it would be possible for Diana to have a child by another man and pass the child off as an heir to the throne. There were rumors Charles was not Harry's father.
      Diana and Charles were both living like single people starting in 1986.
      In 1994, Charles confessed his marriage was irretrievably broken down by 1986, and that's when he renewed his intimate relationship with Camilla. Diana had admitted Charles was faithful until 1986. Charles ended his intimate relationship with Diana before renewing his intimate relationship with Camilla.
      Diana admitted she had an affair with James Hewitt starting in 1986. Hewitt was gone in 1989, and Diana was involved with James Gilbey in 1989. Remember Squidgygate?
      Diana had 8 or more affairs between 1985 and 1996. Most of her affairs didn't last very long. She had difficulty sustaining relationships. Some of her affairs were with married men, and the tabloids labeled Diana a home wrecker. Diana caused Will Carling's divorce. She tried to break up Oliver Hoare's marriage. Mannakee was a married man. Dodi was engaged to Kelly Fisher when Diana became involved with him. Diana knowingly hurt other women. She was not a Saint.
      ~~~~~
      Diana claimed to love the following men:
      Charles
      Barry Mannakee in 1985-1986
      James Hewitt in 1986-1991
      Oliver Hoare in 1992-1994
      Hasnat Kahn in 1995-1997
