@@Eryykc you are soooo not the only person dealing with these issues. So proud of you for just keeping on taking your medical issues one at a time and trying. That’s all we can do. Not let them get too far ahead of us.
Oh, geeze. Sorry that happened that had to be so strange to wake up and be told what you thought would happen didn’t happen. (Here I made you some mint tea - *clink*). Now, I can tell you that once I went in for abdominal surgery for inflammation and just exploration because I was having crippling spasms and they discovered adhesions (scar tissue) all over my intestines making them kink and stick together and I felt like a whole new person just having them removed. So I hope, once the swelling goes down you find out the pain is either more manageable or negligible. It’s fine to feel upset surgery is scary and out of your control and to have that made worse by feeling cheated of an ending that should have had a “done” check mark next to is terrible. Enjoy the tea. Come back here and vent some more if you need to. We got you. 🦋
Thank you my friend, I love it when tea is made for me. 🥰🥰🥰 Thank you for sharing your experience, it reinforces my hope that this will turn out well in the long run.
Oh, Eryk! Oh my gosh, I just can’t believe what you’re having to go through! That’s got to be so discouraging and all of your feelings are so valid. I got teared up when you were in the car leaving. You are sure getting to practice Stoicism, my friend. I hope you recover well and see what’s next planned. I’m sending you lots of healing vibes and good energy and lots of love 💕!
Thank you! Yes, I’m getting some wonderful opportunities to practice. If I gave myself a grade for this experience I think it was at least a B-, ideally the pity party would have lasted less than 6 hours but overall I’m happy with how I handled it.
Oh man! After watching this i am totally sending you a hug. Hoping all goes well and better following this and future surgeries. Peace & Love my friend. 😊❤
I’m so sorry. That really sucks! I tore my meniscus last year and they wanted to wait and see what happens. My knee continues to try to go backwards. I hope they gave you an ice machine! Really helpful! I’m autistic, ADHD, and deal with chronic pain and PTSD. My autism makes everything so hard. ETA: Just found your channel the other day and liked your content! Keep going with your health journey and your content! People need what you bring to the world!
We share a lot of diagnoses my friend, well met indeed. No ice machine sadly, but I’m making do with bags of peas. Thank you for your encouragement, I am glad you are here, and I will keep making content, we need more voices like ours in the world.
Thank you for sharing the raw emotion that you were feeling in the moment. There is a good reason for the planned surgery not happening yet. I am thankful that the doctor assessed and went with "plan B" when he saw what was going on inside. I am hoping that you will be healed enough to enjoy a less painful holiday season as you recover from this procedure. ❤
Thank you, I try to share a balance between the reality of how much living with constant health issues suck, but also sharing the lessons I learn and my journey to become a more mindful person. I hope it can help others.
Thank you my friend, it has been a nightmare. I know it will all work out in the end, but the idea of having to go through this again is very disheartening. But I will survive this.
When I had knee surgery, the Dr found more damage & the sugery went from 1 to 2.5 hours. And I got a more impressive scar out of the deal. I tripled down on the suggested physical therapy & impressed my surgeon with the range of motion I recovered. Being a female over a certain age, he had not wanted me to get my hopes too high. BS. I know what this stubborn woman is capable of & I achieved it.
And just like that, you are my hero. Thank you for sharing your story, it’s so encouraging to hear about how you overcame a rough situation and beat the doctors expectations. ❤️🖤🙏🏾
Dude, that would have me all wound up and needing to hold myself a pity party for a bit too. It sucks, big time. I love hearing self-compassion is also on board. ❤
Oh Erryk sending you gentle hugs from afar. Gosh life can certainly throw some curve balls! I’m with you on that one hence the need for an unplanned doctor visit this morning 🙁. Yes acknowledging your feelings is key to then coping in that situation 🩷. I’m pleased that the surgeon did something and is also wanting to look further at the root cause but dang more questions and unclear answers is tricky. Take very good care of yourself xx
Thank you my friend, hugs are always appreciated. I agree that it’s good something was done so the pain is not pointless, and that while there more questions, at least the surgeon wants to help me sort it out.
I am so sorry the surgery did not answer questions or solve any issues. How frustrating!! You are brave to keep going. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Not gonna lie, I still threw a few tantrums and a pity party but yes, I will keep going. It’s actually kinda funny because I said over the summer I wanted to get better at being like water and going with the flow of life, so I guess this was an opportunity for me to see how well I’ve progressed in that. 😂😂
wishing you a soft and speedy recovery. thank you for sharing the ups and downs. i'm having some health issues that could probably use me being like water, too
Hi my friend. I just wanted to say that I am thinking of you as we near Winter Solstice. I know you will checking in with your quarterly review of life and I have decided to follow you in this. It is my son's birthday on 21st and what better time to look back and look forward. I hope you continue to heal. Thinking of you ❤
All your emotions are valid, for sure. And flowing like water just ran into a dam for now, but you will unblock it and be on your strong and inspiring way again soon. I'm so sorry that it did not go to plan, but at least, I guess they know a little more about your issues and have cleared out the scar tissue. Go with the pity party for now, and we'll see you when you are ready. Take care, my friend, and do what you need to do to survive the next few days. Sending love and strength your way ❤
Wishing you a gentle recovery. I watched Arcane yesterday as you mentioned it. Glad you did! I have tinnitus too, would love to know how the headphones help you. You can do this brother!😊
Thank you! If you’re into video analysis there are some great TH-cam videos that break down the show from a narrative standpoint, and also the philosophical and psychological aspects of the show and the characters. For me I use headphones as a way to distract myself. Listening to ambient noise or music (classical, jazz, and lofi are my favorites for when I am reading or working), helps distract me from the near-constant noise in my head.
Sending you hugs. So sorry that this happened. I’m sure you’re super-frustrated, & not being able to find out what’s wrong when you were hoping to is scary. Please take care of yourself.❤
I will, thank you my friend for your understanding. Removing the scar tissue was painful but at least it wasn’t a waste of time. We just ended up fixing a problem I didn’t know I had. I appreciated that the surgeon printed out the images so I could see the scar tissue he found.
It's probably much easier for me to say (and I don't know why or how your knee has come to this), but I think it's pretty cool that you get to keep all your natural parts. To me, getting parts replaced would mean nerves paths would be cut, and that might mean learning to use your knee again (learning to walk again). What I hope for you is that you come out of this painful setback, healed up proper and the scar tissue doesn't come back (I've had scar tissue build up in my hands from repetitive motion at work, so I guess my body overreacts to injury).
I get it, I appreciate you my friend. Not sure what the future holds just yet, but I’m working on taking the adventure that comes to me. Still anxious, still overwhelmed, but jumping in anyway.
Thank you, I’m trying. The headphones don’t diminish my tinnitus, it just gives me a different sound to focus on. I’ll listen to ambient music, lofi, classical, blues, whatever helps me ignore the noise. I met with an ear doctor and there’s nothing wrong functionally with my ears, it’s partly neurological and partly due to my medication.
Wow sorry to hear things didn't go as planned, but they did find some ugly stuff to scrape out, I've had that done. I do hope they continue to investigate your knee issue, and not ignore things. Feel better soon, not just Physically but Mentally & Emotionally. Your emotions were already like a Roller Coaster, because you were nervous, but then things changed. Take care.
Please also remember that your emotional reaction to the disappointment of the change in plan is the anesthesia affecting your brain. All the emotions for days after are also your brain affected by anesthesia. I know they say as part of surgical consent that you should not make any major decisions after surgery. That's why. I am also a planner and probably neurodivergent. You're allowed to be upset and you have the answer - self-compassion! I have come out of surgery in a RAGE. Sometimes there was a reason, sometimes not. Anesthesia.
You are right about the brain being affected, I was told not to make any major decisions for a few days and I’m sticking to that. Thank you for sharing your experience, connecting with my community has been very grounding during this time.
Eryk, I hope this means you'll get to avoid the knee replacement (at least for a while). But I guess you'll know more in a few weeks. Today I took my daugher (age 22) to meet an oral surgeon. We're finally getting the whole overcrowded teeth taken care of. She'll get teeth pulled, braces, then she can opt for the jaw surgery to bring her jaw forward a bit. It's a lot, but will happen over a couple of years. Poor kid! At any rate, we really liked him, & he explained everything really well. I was going to tell you that I liked your sheer baby blue beret, but then you called it your lunch lady hat and I laughed! Take care, my friend. Frozen peas are your best friends. (Or corn? 🌽 Why is there no pea emoji?)
I had a reply for something else but now I’m fixated on the lack of peas, wait, I found it! 🫛 okay, where was I? Oh yeah, I’m sorry that she has so much to go through, I hope it can all be paced out in a way that doesn’t overwhelm her.
it's OK to be upset. You don't have to "flow with life" the second you get bad news. Take the time to feel your emotions, mourn the loss of the expected outcome, and take care of you Some tea for you while you heal 🫖🍵
Hi Eryykc. I'm so sorry that they couldn't go through with the intended surgery. I'm glad that they were able to get rid of the scar tissue. Hopefully, this will alleviate some of the pain. Don't be angry with yourself. I get it. In 2009, I went into surgery to coil my brain aneurysm. My BP dropped way too low, so they had to stop the procedure. Now, I go for yearly MRIs to make sure the aneurysm hasn't grown. I was so frustrated and angry because I wanted the issue resolved, instead of having to go into the tube of hell and have the Hannibal Lecter mask over my face. Please take care of yourself and get plenty of rest. Your body has been through trauma and needs to heal. Much love. 🫶❤️❤️🙏
Thank you my friend for sharing your story, I’m sorry that happened but please know that sharing your story helps me process my own, and I am grateful for you. I was awake most of the night pondering my experience and ended up writing it out as a blog post.
I think that writing your blog post was very cathartic for you. You were angry and disappointed, as you should be. Hopefully, in time, they can revisit the original surgery that you were supposed to have. Thank you for being so caring and empathetic. 😊❤❤@Eryykc
