This was really informative Steve, I've played the game for many years but never quite got the grasp of judging spin shots, I was always finding myself in trouble building breaks going too far down the cue ball and thinking I might have been jabbing the shot.
. as always excellent tips. Could you make a video on the natural angle of the white ball and how to calculate it. I think it's very important to get better breaks or to choose the right shot. Thank you for all your work and your passion for Snooker

Don't hold yourself and your shots to a really high standard especially when theres an alternative....best snooker advice i have heard for a long time. Just cos the pro's make it all look oh so easy,,,,any serious snooker player knows it is a really really really difficult game to master and it is also one of the cruellest games ever in so many ways. But thats what makes the game so challenging,,,,, snooker requires max mental focus to play, and the concentration is so tiring.... Maybe a video on positional play trying to come down the line of the next shot instead of cutting across the line(less room for error again). Great channel and great advice,,,,just wish you were a little closer, would love to have some coaching from you. Thank you for your videos, they offer great advice. 5 stars
I use the same technique from green to brown because: 1. U screw the cue ball by playing a stun and thus your cue ball can't overscrew at least 95% of the times. 2. It's better to underscrew than over screw cuz one can still easily get on the blue. My biggest struggle is yellow to green especially when I use the cushion to come back for green in the green pocket. I struggle with either potting the yellow ball or controlling the pace of the cue ball to get to the green for green pocket. If you can offer a tip, much much appreciated! I've tried playing a stun run through on the yellow with a little drag and mostly it helps but it ain't reliable if the yellow is a bit straight to use the cushion to get back for green. Hope i was able to communicate the scenario

I do everything that you suggest very meticulously but at that last fraction of a second too many thoughts, too much attention to the details messes up everything. I wish I could come and take some personal coaching from you. Regards.

Steve can you do another one about just controlling the white on screw shots- I just find that classic green off the spot I often sky the white off the table when i try and get screw off it- I try to be level, get through the CB etc but often get a miscue etc...Can u show us how ?? Like screwing off the green /yellow etc when its straight /almost straight ...like a Barton check list would be good
This is why I can't believe when someone says "you should land straight on the green" (when clearing the colours) because of the very small margin of error. If under a lot of pressure you will most likely mess it up by overhitting or undehitting it. That's why you want to finish a bit low on the green, still straightish but not dead straight, maybe 3/4 ball or 4/5 ball angle. You wouldn't be afraid of missing the pot but there's a lot more margin for error positionally.
Bit of a cheeky comment :p but, screwing back for the black is certainly not as high standard than playing for the pink, but getting on the yellow from that position with this angle is... well quite a high standard shot to pull off! max power top spin with right hand side I assume? Not for me haha.
Steve I've had same problem, Would it make a diff if you shortened the length of bridge hand to CB ? sure I saw this somewhere but not had a chance to practice
