Hope you had a great time in Scotland, Paul. My homebody self hasn't been north of the border for many years.

My teenage daughters and I worked through both Writing Down the Bones and Wild Mind in the late 90s (as well as Kenneth Koch & Kate Farrell's Sleeping on the Wing) as part of our feminist, open ended homeschool writing practice. They were immediately hooked in when Goldberg opens the first book by urging one to find notebooks with silly or cartoon covers so as not to get too precious about writing. Little Mermaid to the rescue!

Hi Paul. Thank you for this video! This book sounds like something I would like to read.
When you speak about time to be lazy it took me back to an experience when I was younger. I loved daydreaming in my teens. It gave me the opportunity to write stories in my head and because I could never find the words to write them on a scary bit if paper, you know all white and foreboding, I would allow my stories to run like a film in my head. My dad had a little moan about me being lazy one day because I had spent most of my day laying on my bed daydreaming. My grandad said " ah leave her alone she needs time to sort out all those little tales storing up in her noggin allow her some peace she can do her chores tomorrow " he gave me a knowing smile and took a little drag from his ciggie and then went off into his own little world. I've been so busy for the last twenty years with looking after my daughter I've not had a lot of time to daydream. I hope I can get back to it at some point, just like my grandad. 😊
