This exactly what I have been looking for. I want to install one of these in my 30’ toy hauler and now I know what I need to do the job quickly and efficiently.
It’s like you were reading my mind. I have wanted to this to my RV as I really like to camp in the cold weather with it but the propane furnace is so power hungry. Such a gutsy move to cut that hole! Bet you were nervous! Nice set up! Going to look at replicating this project on my rig. Great job, keep up the good work. Good luck on the hunt trip
Well I used it on my hunting trip (-8C overnight) and it kept the RV warm on the lowest setting over night. I was shocked on how little power it consumed. When I went home my Anker C1000 was at 65% after 6 days. I used about 12litres of diesel. Running the propane would have used way more and the batteries in the trailer would be dead.
Thats a very good idea Micheal! You know we're running one too and a are happy with it. Its actually warming us right know 😅 All the best from Utah 🇺🇸❤️
Looks good. Every time I run out of propane it seems to be between 2 and 5 am lol. I have a couple of electric heaters as a back up now . That diesel heater is a good idea.
It's a great option in my opinion! I'd maybe keep the furnace as a backup and just tie into the existing ducting. Maybe add a small fan to help blow it through the RV heater ducts.
I have a Webasto in my atv and I love it !! Diesel heaters are the way to go for fast and especially dry heat. Boy.. the price of that power bank !! ouch...to much for me. Thanks Michael and take care.
There is a substitute fuel pump you can get that is a drop in replacement for the one on the diesel heaters and it is a great deal quieter. It's about $40 CDN on Amazon Canada.
I have that same heater in my workshop. I would love to use it on camping trips with my trailer as well. I’ve looked and can’t find anything on the market like the port and caps you 3D printed. Any chance you would sell a set to me?
I can send you the files if you like and you can get them printed online or have someone with a 3D printer print them. Just email me info@the-emporium.ca 👍
I've had a diesel heater for about 4 years now. A cheap amazon one as well. I had to extend the wiring on the control panel to bring it inside the space I'm heating. That's where the thermostat is located (in the control panel) I wonder if you will have to do that to yours as well, otherwise the thermostat will pick up the outdoor temperature and will always run hot, and the fan fast, eventually overheating.
Yes - I considered that and if it was a permanent install would totally do it but as I want to use it in my tent - I need the panel to move with the heater. I used it for a week during a camping trip in -8c temps and it was fine. I don't use the thermostat and just set the "H 1-6" level so it just chugs away without any issues 👍
Micheal, keep in mind these diesel heaters work on temperature rise from ambient. For example, if the heater could do a 20c temperature rise and the outside ambient was -30 well you could see where that’s going. If the heater was indoors at say 15c then you would be blowing 35c air. You could drill a second hole and pull warm air from inside but now you need to insulate pipes and the unit itself will be in the elements. You can mount these inside with a lot of precautions.
100% correct and a very good point. If I didn't want to use it with my tent I'd install it inside for sure and duct the exhaust outside. I may just buy a second cut down version and do that in the future!

Thanks Peter - Good luck on the project! 👍

It's great to hear you're using one too! They are really nice and cheap to run!! 😄
Love the diesel heaters. One suggestion would be to have the exhaust pointed away from the camper. Great video as always !!
Very good idea! I'd like to move the exhaust so I can quick disconnect it for travel!

Thanks Ben!! 👍
I been thinking of replacing the furnace in my 5th wheel with a diesel heater.
It's a great option in my opinion! I'd maybe keep the furnace as a backup and just tie into the existing ducting. Maybe add a small fan to help blow it through the RV heater ducts.
Great job. Had me worried at first. Afraid you was going to hit something in the wall.
I don't want to mess up my wall too much, so I was careful! 😄
good job
Thanks for watching! 👍
Thank you
Anytime!
Good video, thanks for sharing, YAH bless !
Glad you liked it! 👍

Yea - they are great - Look for the sale prices! I use it for both my RV and the camping! 👍
Excellent! What about diesel smell from the fuel? What temperature will you be camping in?
You really don't smell it at all - It burns very clean! I'd like to try -20c with the heater 😃

Hello there. Can you give me a little more regarding that heater you are talking about. Thanks!
That’s good to know - I’ll have to check that out!
I think there is a link in the description or from my amazon store but they are everywhere on Amazon 👍

@@TheEmporiumOutdoors Thank you.
Getting (or got) any hunting in this year Michael?
Just got back from trip and it was great!! No deer yet but time left yet 😉
@ the whitetails are staying holed up for now it seems. Been out a few times with one of my boys and action is slow
I'm way too lazy for that kind of set up. Mines in a cabinet in the van. The remote hangs on a hook next to the bed.
Hahaha - Love it!
