- Majorly abounded with Sal trees, the forest in Bargarh district of Odisha was declared a sanctuary in the year 1985. The sanctuary has a unique location on the banks of the famous Hirakud Reservoir, which stretches more than 30 kilometres in length and 15 kilometres in breadth, with an average depth of 5 metres water level. This dry deciduous forests and its surrounding water body is rich in wild animals and birds.

there is no doubt about the fact that DebriGarh is very beautiful ... but due to lack of awareness and alertness among local people as well as govt. officials this wildlife sanctuary is facing major deforestation which need to be countered ASAP...focus should be made on planting trees which can grow easily and rapidly in dry deciduous forests.
And this has no place in Odisha tourism ad ... And then they ask what is there in west odisha to see
Bro this is odisha governments tourism video and regularly they are showing debrigad in doordarshan national, but it's true that bjd government didn't want develop it's tourist places example odisha government's highest tourism revenue comes from similipal mayurbhanj but still today there no proper roads to visit similipal waterfalls
Why does odisha tourism not add this type of nature view in the official Video of odisha tourism ? Why why ? Peoples love nature not to Temple. In the place of Jagannath temple, konark sun temple, lingaraj temple odisha tourism should add this type of natural places.

With the TIGER census concluded recently in Odisha, tiger pug marks were spotted at Barapahad hills and Debrigarh wildlife sanctuary in Bargarh district.During the survey, the officials spotted the pug marks of TIGERS as well as other wildlifeincluding elephants in the area.While three paw prints of a female tiger andits cub were found in Ambabhona block, one pug mark of a tiger was clearly spotted at Matabandh area. The officials also traced the presence of tigers at Launsara Hurasil forest under Dunguri section.

i had been to this sanctuary, we spotted bison,monkey,deer,sambar,wild boar,peacocks. One of the best santuary in odisha.
