A truly gorgeous debut from and by an underrated but immense talent. For me, and I deeply believe for many, listening to Eric's tunes possesses the same sensational experience as a magic carpet ride.

I've been a fan of Eric Marienthal for over 20 years now and he has done a lot of great music but his Voices Of The Heart debut album is one that i always go back to the most, it contains some of his most deepest songs and some of his finest sax playing ever. Most often at times he has been accused of being a David Sanborn clone and doesn't get mentioned as much as other great players like Michael Brecker or Chris Potter but for me i feel he has his own voice on the saxophone as well as his own unique sound & i would put him be up there with them as one of the very best ever. I highly recommend you check out this album and all of his others, you won't be disappointed.
This ranks just slightly below WRITTEN IN THE WIND and HOLD ON MY HEART for his best. He is a fantastic alto and soprano saxophonist who doesn't make a lot of headlines; he just gets out there and does his job. As a struggling alto player myself, I'd love to take lessons from him.
