Now flying is more like a bus than the luxury mode it was up until the 1980's

Now, if you want to have decent legroom and decent food, not deal with immense crowds, and not deal with cancelations and delays, you have to charter a private jet.

Európàban a vasút újra reneszànszát éli. Nem kell 2-3 órával korábban kimenni a repülő térre . Nincs vizsgálat..... A belvárosból indulnak a vonatok, sokkal kényelmesebbek min a fapados légitársaságok. Igaz itt a távolságok teljesen mások mint az USA ban. Nàlunk 5-800km már soknak számit. 200-250km /óra sebesség nem ritka.

This is horrible. As some people said, traveling was have the vacation. Airplanes you just sit and wait until you get there. You can’t get steaks, good sleep, 2 meal, and everything you can get on the 20TH century

This was the problem for all railroads. Why take the Super Chief from Chicago to Los Angeles, which meant 2 nights in a Pullman car, when a TWA Constellation or an American DC-7 could fly, non-stop, from Midway to LAX in 8 hours.

success of any transportation depends when they are mass used like cars in usa and trains in japan.

i wouldnt want to fly in the 50-70s. Think about it. Planes were so slow you could go to sleep in NY sleep for 9hrs. in that time the plane probably had made 3 different fueling stops and STILL was over 350 miles from LA (and another 6hrs give or take a minute.) I mean what was the max speed of a plane in the 50s? 275mph? MAYBE 350? sure as hell arent flying at Mach .90 (roughly 625mph). Whats the name of this show?

Sorry, I just think the NYC gave up, because the train was still busy until it was downgraded in 1957

They were losing money even with full trains. Costs and ticket prices killed them

@@gamerfan8445 that did not help but that was not the main reason. Ticket prices were not competitive and the train costs were out of control. NYC could not do much to control this because of regulations.
