    One of the best scale spitfire videos around and an extremely beautiful model that is flown in a very scale manner .I have the new hanger 9 mk ix 81 in spitfire which is an absolute joy to fly and have weathered and added more scale but my to do list is definitely the bt spitfire

    The BT Spitfire is 83". I have this big motorbecause of the torque to drive the big prop. max power in flight is somewhere around 3500w. I am thinking of switching the turnigy esc for a Castle creations to log the power usage.. A little less guess work ...

    Thanks man :) Yes it is. I have a Turnigy 80100-130. 6500W Kv=130rpm/v and 12S 5000mAh. The model is 11.2kg so its quite heavy with a high current draw of 46A. So only 5 mins flight time.

    Your BT spit is beautiful, love the paintwork. Have to say that the early marks are prettier than the later griffon engined spits. I have the Castle creations Phoenix 160HV esc, swear by it. Its quite a lump but at least you know it'll never burn out! The overall weight does mean that you have to come in at fairly high speed, doesn't it? I watch the gas power versions float in at walking speed, mine comes in at a gallop or it just drops.

    Well it looks like it has enough poke. I have a YT 72" mk14 spit with an eflite 160, not sure if thats bigger or smaller than yours but its 2700w, Kv 245 through a Phoenix 160HV esc and 2 x 6s 5000Mah lipo's.
    Does the job and gives plenty of vertical climb but only for about 6 minutes, and its heavy! No hard landings with it and easy on the cross wind touch downs!

    Looks really good in the air, very scale. What power set up are you using?

    • @stianbje
      @stianbje  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      IRONSIGHTxx thanks 😀 I used 12s 5000mah and a turnigy 80100 with kv = 130. Prop is 24" soloprop. Bit small packs... flights must be short..

    I built one of these beauties in the late 1980's, powered by the Lazer 75, but, funnily enough in the very same markings. I love the fact you are.flying with a scale prop,.electric motor and sound module, beautiful! Here's a link to my old Spit ( from BT plans like yours, the very best out there) m.th-cam.com/video/8_u2-AW7Tak/w-d-xo.html

    Thanks :) I dont like that floating thing or the short take offs with nose down attitude.. :p it doesnt look scale.. Yes, it needs a lot of speed both on take off and landing..

    Loads of Spitfires and 109's crashed on take off and landing because of the stupid design of the under carriage. Supermarine went on to put tail wheels on jet fighters before going bust.
