After all the build up between them over many episodes it was so disappointing that we only got to see a 3 second kiss which was mostly behind a curtain. Chinese censorship is beyond prudish and backward. And we didn’t see enough time of them being together after they got married, especially as we waited so long yet he left straight away, it felt too rushed. It robbed the viewer of finally seeing them happy together. And at the end we didn’t even get to see them together just looking at each other from a very long distance and even then it could’ve been mistaken for her ‘imagining’ that he had returned, it was too ambiguous. It would’ve been so much better if they’d showed them reunited in each other’s arms, the ending was such a let down, especially after 40 episodes. The lack of seeing them together after their marriage and the ambiguous ending let the series down.

I wish the director put in more kissing scenes for the lead couple. I love them in this series. But they could have shown more love. Wang Xing Yue was the only one showing all his love for Jinyan Wu. I was really hoping for more affection on her side. Series 2 please!❤
I LOVED the drama BUT I think there are TWO UNNECESSARY DEATHS, why do the two best friends have to die in battle ?? NO valid reason.- It was very unfair. Just to have a dramatic scene ?? Disagree !!. I am not happy with that.-

En el drama da a entender que el regresa mientras que en la novela el muere, ya que la lectura termina él solo contra los soldados apuntándolo con flechas. Además el árbol florece 20 años después, leí en ese mismo foro que ellos se reencuentran en su siguiente vida siendo aún más jóvenes.
Actually he is not dead. He comes, back from the war and they show all this in the 5 minutes epilogue. Also in the novel he survives the war but he is demanded by the emperor to keep the secret until they destroy the rebels in the court. It takes around three years time during which he sneaks inside the house during the new year to stole a glance at her. That's why she has the impression that he is around the house. They couldn't picture all this in the film that's why they've used the metaphor with the combing....

@@trisha2757 there are several on the net I think. I've read the epilogue on a forum though. The five minutes epilogue it's very accurate.
