    I read a book about a couple who adopted their daughter from a Romanian orphanage at 2 1/2. They would have to visit her every day for 2 weeks to get to know her. The few toys there were broken and had tatty clothes. They bought new toys and clothes for her and left some there a few of the times they visited but they never saw them again. When they asked staff they said they didn't know. The director told them the staff take them for their own children.

    When someone is against abortion watch this. Sometimes it’s not worth having a baby if it’s gonna have a horrible life like this. I’d never put a child through this or wish this for any child.

      It is very personally responsible to have a child if you can actually raise one. And sometimes, delaying means abortions.

  • @UseAnAdblocker
    @UseAnAdblocker 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    People need to stop saying these kids were "abandoned". Unless you were there and lived through more than a generation ,where the issue wasn't that they couldn't afford food...there was NO food. The shelves were empty and those queues outside the shops? They're waiting for food to (hopefully) arrive.Women had no way to avoid pregnancies, with "The menstrual police" examining them on at least a monthly basis. If she wasn't pregnant, she was a traitor and could face persecution (the ever present threat of the secret polive-the securitate), imprisonment or worse. Most women were forced to give themselves abortions. Many died, others simply couldn't manage with maybe 8-10 children, some of whom may have been disabled. If you aren't permitted enough light to read by, or sufficient heat to prevent water INSIDE the house from freezing, It's hardly yhe ideal situation to be raising that large of a brood. When a mother is forced to give up her flesh and blood, it's a trauma often too much to bear...a mother who never returned or couldn't be found may not have coped with the guilt, shame and pain. She may have been "disappeared" by the securitate or perhaps she has purposely avoided going through the whole process of having to tear herself and her child apart over and over again.

      My impression is that international adoptions are being restricted. Why?
      To paraphrase from the video these kids need families and not all kids have extended families that will receive them. Some I’m wondering why the move to restrict adoptions in general. I would expect countries to strength these partnerships (adoptions) to improve the outcomes for these kids.
      To be fair, adoption are difficult. Not all families are equipped to handle some of the severe trauma that these kids have gone through. Just sucks all together.

      @@klingonjoe International adoptions are plagued with corruption. People use their money to essentially purchase babies, and the adoptive parents are not vetted and screened carefully enough. Once the children leave their home country there's no oversight, to ensure the safety of these children. They are often abused, and the government has no recourse with international adoptions. Why not adopt a baby from the country you reside in? In past decades wealthy American celebrities were adopting children from all over the globe, and showing them off like fashion accessories for public relations points. There's plenty of children in need, right here in the US. The anti-abortion movement will make that number skyrocket in the very near future.

    My deaf father escaped in 1980, my mother, 2 sisters, and myself had the privilege of walking out of Romania and into Canada in 1982
    In 1987 my parents and two brothers-in-law (also escapees), had the temerity to return and take an 8 week holiday...2 years before the fall of communism! No secret police threats whatsoever! Can't stop asking myself if I would return to the land where I had escaped had I been a 42 year old mother with all three kids?! My answer is absolutely NO, yet they did. How were they so certain of their immunity? Where did this bravery come from? What actually went on?!
    To this day, no one in my family wants to talk about it or give me answers. In the last few years, my entire family has become estranged from me and from each other (despite Covid)
