- In this video we visit Corio, a station on the Geelong Line situated in Geelong's northern suburbs. We spend a couple of hours here for the duration of the afternoon peak. We mostly see V/Line Vlocity DMU's but also numerous N Class locomotive-hauled trains on Warrnambool Line services and Geelong peak hour services. With Vlocity DMU's now operating most Warrnambool Line services since the 1st December 2024, scenes like these are starting to become a thing of the past.
On the adjacent Western Standard Gauge line we also see a couple of freighters including Pacific National's 1PM5 from Perth hauled by NR102 & NR68, and SCT's 6PM9 from Perth led by CSR004.
We start the video at the trackside spot north of the station. With wide unobstructed views from the adjacent roadway this was one of the best trackside spots in the Geelong area. Unfortunately since filming this video this area has now been fenced off. We also see some clips at the School Road level crossing.
We then head off to the station itself where we see some more trains. I'll admit that I consider Corio to be one of my least favourite stations in Victoria. This is mainly because of the station's rundown appearance with a lack of maintenance and amenities, and it's poor location situated in a secluded industrial area. It doesn't feel like the safest station around.
Corio station opened on the 15th September 1890 as Cowie's Creek, before being renamed Cowie on the 9th May 1904, and then Corio on the 1st December 1913. It was around this time that the station was originally rebuilt. The current station opened on the 9th September 1981 when the line from Lara to Corio was duplicated.

Large bump in the track at 18:14, coupler deviation must be large.
Nice video mate
Another nice place to visit even though it is in the industrial part of Geelong.
Just a quesntion, I know you say that you don't do video requests but I would love to see your setup while filming at stations maybe.
Unfortunately the trackside is gone now
Press F to pay respects 😢
