Cross Purposes is a monster of an album and really shows off Tony's incredible voice

    It's a shame they didn't play more Martin's songs.

I heard that Cozy Powell, who had worked with four Sabbath singers at various stages of his career, singled out Tony Martin as the best. Massively underappreciated, that one.

Loved the Tony Martin albums, Sabbath always Rocked Hard no matter who was in the band but Tony handled anything in the catalog admirably and his own stuff was damn good. So all that really mattered is Tony Iommi was the musical director and uber guitarist! Tremendous tunes in all eras, always utterly Great stuff. Black Sabbath - 1968 - Eternity! 🎸

Gotta appreciate how Tony sings the Ozzy and Dio stuff just as hard and emotionally as his stuff. Doesn't get the props he deserves. Band politics kept this guy from being a metal household name.

That's exactly why _this tour_ was *THE* Black Sabbath tour to see out of any, all, and every other possible tour in the history of the band, period.
Somebody mentioned it being "a shame they didn't play more Tony Martin stuff" okay, sure, maybe, but; the thing about Tony Martin to me is that you get the Dio songs and the Ozzy songs _and_ his songs and he sings them all professionally (like Ian Gillian, my other favorite singer that's supposed to not be any good in this band, ehh, the album and cover isn't all perfect but the Sabbath you get is the best Sabbath of all worlds in terms of what the band can competently pull off and at full energy and full technical proficiency.) So, I specifically enjoy the variety as I do not see this as a side story Tony Martin tour, but rather *THE UNCANNY AND UNPARALLELED ULTIMATE ALL TIME DEFINITIVE AND ABSOLUTE BAR-NONE TRUE HANDS-DOWN SHUT YOUR LYING MOUTH IDEAL SABBATHRY OF EVER AND ALSO ANYWHERE.*
If _I_ had a time machine _this_ would be the tour I'd prefer to go back in time again to see live.
You get '70s Doom Stonedhenge rocking Sabbath, Tony Martin advanced post--Dio progressive Stonedhenge rocking Sabbath, and Post-Dio Maiden Priestly heavy metaling above 55 HRC on the rockwell scale type 'O Rocking Sabbathry (at times almost post-proto Slayer/Celtics Frost etc like on "Iron Man" and "Into the Void" of course, and also on "Eye Witness") wild Detroit Nugent-esque dive bombs on The Wizard almost Pat Smear or Greg Ginn level grindy twisted nasty-ness and with Geezer Butler on bass and '80s Rainbow drummer even, so's it also unexpectedly has that Deep Purple-arena-big stacks-fog machine and lights hat and cane-ery in the behind the beat thrashing swing he was shamelessly perpetuating all night long through the whole sick crews set.
Upon hearing the first chords of the first number you immediately get the impression this freakin' band is currently, at the time of this video, trained up to a level and evolved to a point that they could be playing on any stage with anyone from a Skid Row or Guns and Roses on international television to a bar venue show with a Bolt Thrower or Napalm Death etc and seem not only completely legitimate and modernistic and in their jurisdiction; but also just as hungry, savage, and heavy as any Death metal or Black metal or Grindcore or Crust Punk hardcore band, whatever you've got, then or now, for that matter.
This is one of, if not *THE,* best live show(s) they ever offered as a band as far as value for your show go-in' dollar and respect for the punter/showgoer. Tasteful light show too, great stage production and sound... captured excellently in this video as well, which is really very fortunate. If Ian Gillians tour was supposedly "Deep Sabbath," then I would call this one "Best Sabbath."

Finally got to see the missing Children of The Sea after all these years! Many thanks. We all know Tony was sick and was better elsewhere (check out san Jose from this tour or well... anything from the Tyr tour!), but this show was almost my first concert ever - I was at the Wolverhampton within a couple of days of this one. It was mind blowing - couldn't quite believe the setlist at it was happening.

Those hand microphones r wrong. A stand up microphone is better. Something to hold onto. Especially for a guy that doesn't normally play live. He is much better on videos. A bit awkward live. But the best Sabbath singer, regardless. He seems to be a lot better live now that he is older. Got used to the stage

What? The best Sabbath singer? How can TM be better than RJD, the best among the best? By the way, I love TM in the studio, but the late Ray Gillen was a million times better in the live department.

@@guillermovenier2887 he’s better in that TM can sing all eras of Sabbath. He can pull off Dio and Ozzy songs just fine. Dio can’t do Ozzy songs that well. So in that regard, TM is the better vocalist
