    To the people who are commenting that some of these tracks sound like Mega Man: you realize this is a Capcom game, right?

    dammit, this game is VERY UNDERRATED. I don't know why so many hated this. This game was AWESOME.
    It's a different take/version on the original/arcade versions. It's unique. It had some non-linear elements and abit of puzzle solving etc. It's great.

      that's the problem. it became a puzzle game instead of an arcade game. just call it something else but strider is an action platform arcade style game.

      Strider (arcade/Mega Drive) is my favorite game of all time. I admit the NES game had some hit detection problems and the jumping feels a bit too stiff, but I love it for expanding upon Strider's lore.

      10 year old me owned this game. I didn't understand it. I thought it was going to be like Ninja Gaiden like what is on the cover. So I didn't know what to do when I got stuck by the 2nd level.

    I loved this game as a kid and I enjoyed a lot of the soundtrack. More than 30 years later, I'm still loving it. Specifically those 3 themes: Egypt Pyramid base, China and Africa. Those are brilliant compositions.

    Been saying this for years. Red Dragon track belongs in the Mega Man universe and Egypt: Rail Carrier belongs in Bionic Commando. Yes I know theyre all capcom games and I was lucky to have played these back when they were new :)

    It took me forever to get past Egypt stage 2 as I had to discover sliding under a certain area. And those areas didn't jump out at me for the longest time. Once I got done there, I got hung up on Matic. During the beginning of the second semester of my freshman year, I talked a teacher into getting a NES and a copy of Strider in her room and a friend, who has beaten Strider, showed me how to beat it. So I went home and beat it myself that afternoon. It's a fairly easy game, but there are some things you need to figure out and it is one of the few games I ended up cheating with. This game and Code Name Viper are the 2 Capcom games of the 7 total NES games I play through on an annual basis. Double Dragon II, Castlevania III, and all 3 of the original Super Mario Brothers games are the other ones.

    • @Cyrx686

      Jeremy Wissel Very nice bro. Unfortunately for my I didn't have friends or the wits to beat some of those games. I would love to beat Battletoads on my own one day.

    The NES version of STRIDER was far superior to the Sega Genesis version.
    The NES version was actually challenging and had a compelling story.

    • @The3rdGunman
      @The3rdGunman 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +TheCodedtestament They were both very good IMO, but I will say the Genesis version was the 1st $70 game, and the fact that you could be it in about 20 minutes was a crime.

      +3rd Gunman That's crazy!! That's the one thing that hasn't changed in like 30 years is the price of video games. Super Mario 3 was 59.99 just like Super Smash Bros lol. I didn't even know they had a NES version of Strider, I only played the Sega version my friend had.

    I was so glad that they didn't forget about the NES Strider when doing remixes of the music for the Remake/Reboot OST. It easily had some of best music in the series. It's one of the most overlooked gems in terms of music (not to mention gameplay) on the NES library. The Kazakh Base & Train themes were easily my fave. :)
    BTW ***** Have you had a chance to check out the remake. I beat it night before last. It combined the best aspects of all 3 games. The Nonlinearity & progression of the NES game along with the the combat, weapons, enemies, not to mention story of the 2 Arcade games. Other than a lack of Cell Shading to give it the anime look, It was EXACTLY the remake I had been praying for ever since they made Bionic Commando Rearmed. Really the only issues I had with the game were pretty minor. The environments were a bit bland and samey and the controls a little stiff and sticky. I'd give it about an 8. :)

      Well I'm glad to hear the reboot is living up to expectations, Double Helix, you've done well. Thanks for taking from the NES that has wonderful music! :3

    This is the good stuff right here. I played the Genesis/Arcade version of Strider, but the NES one will always be my favorite of the old-school ones. I'm loving the new Strider as well. Security Mechanism Theme is still my favorite track from this game. I'm still working on a remix for this one that expands that song, since it's very simple.Have you give that one a try yet, +Wiiguy309?

    MINI-RANT TIME: Stuttering Craig is an idiot. Comparing this game to the Genesis version is a stupid thing to do, since Strider on the NES was in development for longer and is based more upon the manga, 'Strider Hiryu'. If he wants to rip an 8-Bit Strider a new asshole, why not pick on the SMS version? That game WAS supposed to be a direct port of the arcade game and it is legitimately terrible on its own terms, as well.
    Other than that, I like the title theme and final boss theme. :)

    Have to say this proves that gameplay is the most important thing in a game (as long as graphics do not interfere with the ability to play, graphics are nearly useless in terms of critical review I think.) since this game is well known to be horribly glitchy at points but that never stopped me from playing and enjoying it.

    I always thought Strider was a weird game, it feels so buggy and the music is kinda...odd in a way, almost un-Capcom.
    One game I came across that I wish a soundtrack existed, would be Yuu Maze (or Youmais) for the Famicom Disk System. It's a considerably cut down port from the arcade game Raimais, but retains most of the music. In that case, would the arcade composers be credited as well as the FDS composers?

    • @Kenshiro3rd
      @Kenshiro3rd 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      DAFUQ? WTH are you talking about? Strider has a DISTINCTLY Capcom sound to it...

    • @Nikos8BitStereo
      @Nikos8BitStereo  10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Well this was composed by one of the more underrated/unknown composers at Capcom, composing about 4 full soundtracks on the NES. She helped on some soundtracks like Bionic Commando and Mega Man 3, but of course with nearly every Capcom game using and being programmed by Yoshihiro Sakaguchi's sound driver, he makes this sound like the usual Capcom music! ;3

      Strider has way more complex movement wall jumping, run jumping, holding cipher up, slide. Etc. Megaman 2 had run and jump. It stands to reason that megaman was less glitchy. It was less complex.
