Deep Creek is Amazing!!! So Many Hot Springs

  • This morning I decided to get up early and head to the Bradford Ridge Path near Lake Arrow Head in the San Bernardino National Forest to got the Deep Creek Hot Springs to watch the sunrise. I saw able to soak in many of the pools and while I did socialize with people, I did have many of the pools to myself for a little at times. I also enjoyed the warm river! This hot spring is clothing optional, which I enjoy, but isn't for everyone so keep that in mind. People were friendly and fun to talk to, but honestly there weren't a whole lot of people there in the early hours. I know that the spot gets packed and people get rowdy there in the afternoons on weekends. That even happened (people getting a little too wild) in the at around midnight according to some of the people I spoke with who were camping. Anyways, I had a great time, but parts of the trail get pretty steep and slippery. It might be worth trying one of the other path's if you are worried, but honestly, if you hike consistently or are active, you should be able to complete it (in my non-professional opinion). You can also access the springs from Bowen Ranch, and the Pacific Crest Trail if you like.
This is going below all videos in my long form content:
FYI: I explore a lot and stumble upon many different things. The way I go about sharing locations is that if someone tells me to keep a spot secret before I wind up finding it on my own, I keep those spots secret. Otherwise, I share information at my own discretion because I like sharing what I find. I may take things down, obscure locations, or remove data upon request as I have done in the past, but a lot of the places I visit are less well known (because I'm exploring), so I could potentially be removing everything if I did things the other way around, which I don't want to do.
If there is a spot you'd like me to keep secret (if I find it), let me know BEFORE. I change my mind about what I keep secret on my own, but if we talk, I am much less likely to jeopardize my integrity than change my mind. There are a few secrets I don't share with people because I agree to keep these spots on the down low (even when I have heard about them through different parties before visiting). If I find a spot on my own on publicly accessible land and I decided to share it despite you not wanting me to, THAT'S ON YOU. These areas are for everyone to enjoy, explore, and share with the world. Feel free to reach out. I am a reasonable person.

We can't believe you went in the dark! That hill was so sketchy steep going down in the daylight! We were slipping and sliding! Great hot springs and such a nice pool to cool off in when it gets too hot!

Yeah, it was super steep, but manageable with my lights. The pools were amazing! I'm staying somewhere that's about 30 minutes closer to this trail this weekend, so it made sense to do it now to save about an hour of driving. That being said, it's summer so I didn't want to climb back up when it's too hot. I'll probably go back in the fall when it cools down and perhaps spend the good part of a day there. I'd love to explore more of the creek too.

How was the road getting to the parking lot?

The road was nice, but I went down Bradford Ridge Path, which is the steepest but shortest drive from where I'm at. I think most other people either came from Bowen Ranch, the PCT, or the other rout. It was really nice, even with how steep it was getting there and coming back!

How long is the hike from the parking lot to the hot springs?

I think it's about 2.6 miles from the route I took (Bradford Ridge Path), but it's very steep and slippery right before you reach the PCT (I still think it's worth it, but I would try to avoid hiking back in extreme heat). I think hiking in from Bowen Ranch is about 2 miles and is less slippery and steep, but may be more of a drive if you're coming from the LA area and isn't free (you have to pay for parking there). You could hike in from the PCT, but I heard that's little longer.

@@miss.behave Any time! Remember that the route I took has a very steep/slippery section. This section is not very long, but it's good to be prepared for in advance.

Yeah, where I'm at this weekend the drive is a little shorter so I decided to go. It was amazing, but I'd like to go in November or December when it's cool and hopefully before the snow. I love the area!
