Your strawberry-statement might not be so bold. I read somewhere that already centuries ago someone was pondering why herbs/fruits/berries were more potent, the more north they grow. Is it because the growth period is shorter and more intense? More summer light? Soil has more minerals? I don't know, but I sure always buy domestic tomatoes, because them Mediterranean tomatoes just are more bland - AND because supporting domestic work is just smart.

      I believe that 100%

Have you compared domestic tomatoes to tomatoes grown and sold locally down south? The foreign fruit and vegetables that need to travel a lot to be eaten often are bred more for durability than for taste. Being picked before they're ripe also can't help the food it's done for.

Durable tomatoes? Never heard, but it's an interesting idea.

Can't help but putting my 5 cents in... From what I have learned, the reason strawberries tastes sweeter in the North is because the nights are quite Cold and in order to keep from being damaged by potential frost, the plants load the berries up with lots of sugar that acts as anti coolant… But as for tomatoes… I have never Heard that those taste better in the North. Don't Think they have the same mechanism as the berries to load up on sugar since they are not native to the North.

Sadly.. its beaten by another strawberry. The ones she showed is clearly a cultivated kind.
If you want ur mind blown ... find the wild variant called "forest strawberry" (Fragaria vesca)
Im not sure they are in Finland, but i assume they are.
They are like normal strawberries, except very tiny.
But 1 of those tiny berries has the taste of 50 normal ones.
      Its crazy

Strawberries this summer were especially tasty, because colder than usual weather.

Strawberry is like a grape. Challenging summer weather makes them sweet and fresh. Too hot makes them tasteless and huge, and too much rain and cold makes them tiny and bitter. So you never know when you are going to get a good strawberry summer. You got lucky i guess, this summer in Finland is not most typical and it has been cold and feels like there is not summer at all, only echoes of normal summer. I like to eat strawberries with gold fatty milk and sugar.

AmeriFinn well i think the main reason is pure and wild nature and a proper income and great sosial saftynetworks. On the other hand some people tend to hate it during winter due to snow and darkness. In my case i love winter and summer equally. So much things to do if you really want it is only your self thats sets the limit 😊

Well of course one has to get the strawberries grown in Lapland. More sunlight more taste. Though don't know if Finnmark has any strawberry farms. Those would be the most sunniest strawberries. Of course the problem is that the strawberry farms are few and small in Lapland. Which makes Laplandish strawberries a) hard to get due to low yield b) even more extra expensive. Unless one of course lives in Lapland and has a growing plot with strawberries.
