They were always in such beautiful harmony. Charlotte is never stiff and unyielding. And, if you read her book about her journey with Valero, you’ll know that he is a powerhouse with a HUGE amount of go. She never fought with him. She was a partner with him!
At 4:27 she has him walk and stretch. Why cut off that part? It's just as important to see and a very crucial part of a warm up. The stretch should be happening often as a reward after difficult movement for the horse. Currently working on collection in sitting trot with my horse. We literally can go 10 or so beats right now before he wants to get hollow and shorten his stride and we go right back to stretch at the rising trot and some leg yields. This was compared to a month ago when he would fall apart after a couple beats. The stretch is such an important part of conditioning and development of strength.
Note the order-- posting trot to warm and loosen up, canter work, then trot work. My horse's trot is always better after we've cantered, but for some reason I usually canter last in the warm up. I should try this approach as well and see how it goes! (No, we are not anywhere near a high level of anything, but it's fun to get ideas from top riders like this!) Also, I like the slight miscommunication (?) at 6:10-- seeing minor slip ups when things are not perfect really shows off how difficult this is!
This is for me the perfect warm up and this is the perfect rider. A totally normal not spectacular riding. Not forcing the horse to go deep and low with the face almost touching the ground, what bad riders always do. Just riding in the way the horse feels confortable and following his body’s anatomy.
Going deep and long with the face is actually a good thing. It means relaxation, you can see it in the actual nature. I don't see anything wrong with it, it is a nice way to warm up and strech the horses back! She probably did that in the beginning of the warmup, since I guess there is not the whole warmup in the video.
Lovely to watch, he's always so fluid and soft and rhythmic. The way dressage should be.

Wonderful precision and accuracy.
total pleasure to watch. I never thought I would see an English trained horse and rider get to the top of dressage
WOW 💥The one in a million 🏅
the warm up schould be on big screen, always and for everyone to see!! Great job Charlotte Dujardin!
I agree 100%, unfortunately Dressage Hub was banned from filming because the "riders don't like it"
Sad to see him retire, but wonderful for Valegro to retire at the top, and healthy.
...a stradivari is only a piece of wood but it depends who is playing on it and brings you tears in your eyes.....great, thanks for uploading
