In 1968-69 The secular popular folk rock group, The Byrds, did a traditional country album called Sweet Heart of the Rodeo. It had about 3 traditional country gospel songs like "I like the Christian Life" an "I Am A A Pilgrim". In 1969-70 after the US mopn landing and the film "Easy Rider" The Byrds came out with an LP that had their hit song "Jesus Is Just Alright With Me". A few years later the secular rock band "The Doobie Brothers" did their version of it and it became a bigger hit.

On TH-cam, I found a group from the 60s in England called the pilgrims that sounded what would be definitely pop music for the 60s
To quote from a 1970's Larry Norman song: "Why should the devil have all the good music?"
Hear, hear...
What? Nobody mentioned Rich Mullins? Skillet???
So many artists, so little time, right?
Good afternoon be considered contemporary for that error. I have plenty of 60s music so I know what I’m saying.
