This old vet just doffed his port and starboard to the dedication of those restorers. Fantastic!

My claim to fame, and best bit in my transport history was to bring the "Blue Frames and wing supports jacks up from ST Albans to Yorkshire air museum in order to help Tony and Elaine move the Mosquito to East Kirkby.Very proud time for me.

Great video bro, I thought after doing all that work they would get flying again. Been 2 totally restored in NZ now KA144 in 2012 and I just seen on youtube the other 1a D.H. 98 T.Mk.III built in 1945 as a trainer took to the sky's in 2016 by the looks of it. All the best

Hi Ken, sorry I'm late getting back to you, been at my son's on the east coast of England for a week (working holiday).
Yes it's a shame it's not going to fly, when Tony started the project he knew it would never fly as all the work on the project would have to be signed off by a CAA registered company costing time and money.
I have not spoken to Tony yet, Elaine who helps him gave me a short insight of the work involved.
      Regards Nev

Have you contacted the PFA to see whether they could certify it as a project?
They have a full engineering and certification system in house which Cancel All Aviation accept and vast experience of wood aircraft construction?
      Just a thought

If this is a survivor from WWII with original paint, markings, dents and scratches, I understand why only static, taxiing is cool also. But for the U.K. too not have a flying "Mossie" with the beauties restored by Avspec in NZ. Someone must correct that

Hi Bob thanks for your comments. Flying Mosquito RL249, there are plans afoot to get this one back in the air. If you go on the net and type in -the peoples mosquito- you will see it's well on the way. The work is being done in New Zealand and will take around about 5 to 8 years. They are looking for an airfield in the centre of the country to fly from as I live in Lincolnshire I am hoping it's this county.
I will look forward to seeing Tony Agar.s Mosquito HJ711 taxiing at LAHC hopefully next year.

Excellent ! Thanks for the info. I know de Havilland's museum has the prototype and 2 war veterans, but a flying "Mossie" need to grace the skies of the U.K.

I Bob just read my club news letter from "The Peoples Mosquito" referring to a second Mosquito which should be in the air in 2020. check out www.Mosquito Pathfinders Trust. ACFT/555

Thanks for the update Neville, I'll check it out. The more the merrier! Maybe soon, as many "Mossies" will fly the skies as do "Hurricanes". Have a Merry Christmas!

Just a small inquiry from overseas ---are the enough Merlin aircraft engines still available for projects such as this?? I assume Rolls Royce no longer makes parts for those extant

Hi Hichael your comment, not sure about the engines availability but they still come up in auctions. Some parts can be manufactured as RR do not have spares. There are still a few specialised small firms reconditioning them. The Lancaster bomber " Just Jane" at Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre ( this museum) has five Engines for taxying and five airworthy engines. The Museum engineers are working to get the Lancaster NX611 in the air in the next NINE years. Regards Nev. Thanks for watching

to not bring it to flying condition this day and age is a crime. It is wooden and the glue available now is lightyears better than what was available in 1942. Believe me, it is much easier to manufacture a large part from wood than metal.

Hi martha thanks for watching and your comments. Tony started the rebuild about 40 years ago as a static project. To get CAA approval for flying now would be nearly impossible. Regards Nev

I hear he wants to taxi the aircraft once he has worked on the engines. With the wealth of knowledge on merlin engines at the LAHC, that shouldn't be to far down the track.
