    Step one, tie all the bikes together with a rope. Step two, attach the other end to a helicopter...

      Seth's Bike Hacks Seth I have a question for you, would it be possible to make a video on how to build trails, I would love to see a video of your style about that topic.

      BKXC Hey, Brian... you know what they say: What doesn't kill you... (makes you less dumb, in my case!). Great riding, man. Trail reminds me of my home turf here in southern Brazil, which is kinda in the same latitude as NZ.

    That tumble you took when you stopped, I was in the opposite position when that happened to a rider I was passing. She rolled about more than you. One of my scariest moments on a bike. She was OK but I'll never stop on the downhill slope side of a trail after watching that.

    • @bkxc
      @bkxc  7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Yeah, it was such a fluke and such a brain fart. Hopefully never happens again.

  • @zerge83
    @zerge83 7 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    oh man, you guys missed the best sections, just after where you turned back comes a scary skinny trail carved into the very steep hillside, then after the ghost lake comes the switchback nirvana. then the rest is pretty much the same as in the video all the way to seddonville, this was the most epic ride I've done in my life.

    • @bkxc
      @bkxc  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Ah man! Next time

    My wife took a similar fall into what looked like a shallow drainage "ditch". Front tire got stuck, lost her balance and fell the wrong way. We both assumed it wasn't deep so she put a foot out and ended up submerged in gross run off water and I'm sure a little bit of sewage mixed in there since its always leaking in the areas we ride after flooding. Thankfully not hurt, but that soured the mountain biking for her for a while lol and killed an iPhone. Glad you're ok!

    • @bkxc
      @bkxc  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha, always the little stuff! I'm hoping I learned my lesson and won't need to get dunked into poop water to keep me honest.

    bkxc ive been watching your channel for quite awhile now (loving it) and i have a couple things to say
    1) I truly admire that you quit your job and many things i imagine youve worked hard for throughout the years to follow your dreams
    2) ive noticed since you began your quest for trails this summer youve become a very significantly better descender soon youre going to have to rename this channel "bkdh"! very impressive skills

    If you are thinking of doing it in one day and want to avoid the 5 hour climb take copter to the top. Then you can ride to the coast which is a far better downhill than going back down towards the interior.

    • @kitten-inside
      @kitten-inside 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that may be there strictly to protect the exposed fork parts from dirt. Aftermarket mud guards of that type tend to be longer. That plus an ass saver, plus the backpack, and you stay mostly clean from the waist up.

      not tried ass saver for a fork,but for the saddle,they are useless, because they fall off.

    A couple questions
    1. What quality do film on your GoPro?
    2.do you film the whole time while riding and just edit it?
    3. What's your next trip?

    • @bkxc
      @bkxc  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Link in the description to the GoPro stuff. I film most of my ride. St. George Utah is my next planned trip bit.ly/bk-trip

    That crash was pretty bad looking. I hope you're well. I usually stop closest to the mountain slope for that exact reason. Can't be too careful.

    This happened to me last fall doing some night riding following too close to the other rider. Did not notice how far the rock ledge dropped off into the abyss til I was in flight. Landed in a soft pile of boulders still in the clips. Ouch but just scratches and bruised. On a side note do you have plans on getting to our neck of the woods in NH and VT?

    • @bkxc
      @bkxc  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hope I never make that mistake again! I don't have solid plans but I KNOW I need to get up there!

    Hey Brian, love the videos, keep up the awesome work! How are you liking your smith helmet (forefront)? Does your model have the MIPS, whats your feeling on this? Also what kind of pedals/ shoes are you running?

    • @bkxc
      @bkxc  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Stuart!! Mine does not have mips, but I think it's a great helmet. I have a link to all my gear in the description, check it out!

      Agh! Thanks! Have you talked about your shoes in another video? My old specialized hard soled (plastic) shoes just died. Ive never had clipless shoes with a rubber sole/more sneaker fit. Im sure there much easier to hike/push in!

    Sweet ride Brian. Did you happen to see any red stags or Hymilaian tarr on any of your rides there?

    • @bkxc
      @bkxc  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Jimmy! We saw one red deer, but not a stag. Just looked up a photo, wow the stags look AWESOME. No tarr either, just a lot of sheep.
