Thanks for the drive and awesome memories. I spent most of my life on The Bluff (1969 - 2001), living in Scotland now so the rainy weather is sadly rather normal for me. My parent's first house was in Marchant road so it was lekker that you took us up Armstrong road. Cheers, keep well.

Our black grandparents got evacuated by force in bluff (marine drive) back in 1967 by the ruthless apartheid government.

I used to live up the road by the army base at Bisley Close street. I love this place.

Enough of how bad the bluff is nowadays

I will definitely try. I live 300km away from the Bluff, so it'll have to be on my next visit!

I grew up on the bluff it was one of the best suburbs of Durban left in 1979 will never live there again its a shit hole nowadays
It's a understatement to say it's bad it's the same as point road shitstreet

I also left in 1979! The 70s were magic years on the Bluff, I remember standing on Garvies beach about 1978 and saying to myself "This is like paradise!" and it was.

@Awesome South Africa We had beach parties right true the night and it was so safe and afterwards we cleaned up and went home no problems it's so unsafe nowadays when ever I come there and take a drive on the there it's just sad

@@willieterblanche9417 You and I are about the same age! I used to body surf a lot at Garvies (too poor for a board!) and I always remember body surfing in to shore in front of Garvies pipe and the rocks were only a foot under the water - madness! But when the sandbanks were there it was very cool.

@Awesome South Africa you are correct and if you did get hurt at the beach best government hospital Wentworth now sadly not so good anymore but I always tell my girls of our days on the bluff open house parties you could safely hitch hike a lift on tarra road to the bluff drive ing whether it was boys or girls it was safe you know when I read the comments and think of those days I get tears it was just the top of the world in my heart I will always be a Bluff ou we moved to the bluff there were still bucket system in place on some areas
