I was his neighbour for 5 years. I had the apartment right beside his unit. I could see into his apartment from my kitchen window. We meet often at the elevator and in passing and asked me if his practise on the piano bothered me to which i stated not at all and then not knowing what to say next I asked him if my playing my stereo bothered him and he said no not one bit and like me he loved Judy Garland Carnegie Hall. He asked my cats name as he would see him sitting on the window sill. Now to be honest I just thought he was a bit odd and had no idea about his fame. I think he sensed that since I didn’t ask or say a thing and he liked that. Fond memories of living there with a kind gentle neighbour who was named Glenn Gould.
"I could see into his apartment from my kitchen window." - I read somewhere that he had schizoid tendencies and was paranoid that the neighbors were always snooping on him through the windows. Apparently he was right! I wouldn't be able to help snooping either, though!
@@waggawaggaful wasn’t snooping. He left his blinds open and I could see right in his apartment if I was in my kitchen. We had cordial neighbour relationship.
Thank you for this tour. I always wondered what it looked like in there. (I read somewhere that it was very cluttered... although he always knew where stuff was.)
Because obviously the thief is such a passionate admirer of Gould that he wanted to admire in private (and only for him) the coffee stains left by the Master!

@@torontoross That's very interesting and enviable. Do you have any more impressions of him?

We are agree with you!
Simply awesome
Why would someone steal a stained piece of old carpet unless they knew what it was?
