It's true, but it's not the case. Freeze has a grudge against bats, and he is using this to his advantage by threatning him to save his wife. If bats die, it doesn't matte much to him, he will get Nora on her own

it was poor writing on the game creators' part. But for the sake of the story, let's just say that Freeze is a nice guy, but is tired of being screwed over by people, so he tries to 'act the bad guy' .. and fails miserably. In the Arkham Knight game, we finally see the true Freeze - a good but broken person who just wants to save his dying wife.
Freeze: "I learn from my mistakes, Batman. Do you?" "I will not allow you to do that again." "I will not succumb to that strategy a secound time." "That will not happen again." Batman: "I GET IT! I can't use the same Takedown twice!"
On hard difficulty, this fight is hands down one of the best bosses of the franchise. You have to think of every way imaginable to get the drop on Freeze, can’t waste a single opportunity. On new game+, it’s even more of a nightmare. I loved being on the edge of my seat in this part.
How this conversation could have gone: Mr. Freeze: "Batman, find Nora, and I'll give you the cure." Batman: "Okay. Be right back." [Batman rescues Nora.] Batman: "I saved Nora." Mr. Freeze: "Thank you, Batman. Here's are both vials of the cure." Batman: "Thank you." [Batman drinks one vial of the cure and sends the other to Robin for mass production. Joker dies in the steel mill. Cue the closing credits.]
This boss is already incredibly designed and planned out, but it gets even better on hard difficulty. Because on hard, you have to utilize literally every type if takedown in the game. By the time you're down to the final one, it's very tense trying to think of what it could be while avoiding Freeze.
I feel like Batman and Mr. Freeze had the weirdest frenemy-ship. One minute they're beating the crap out of each other and the next minute they're bros?

This fight is epic, but storywise all this is completely illogical. He has just made two vials of cure and then the next second he smashes one of those, while already having one in the safe as leverage. Next he says "bring Nora or die" and then doesn't even give Batman a chance to actually go after his wife, instead immediately trying to kill him. And after all that and Batman kicking his ass, he decides to be friendly again and to just ask politely, and Batman just agrees after Freeze attacked him for no reason two minutes ago.
He tries to kill him immediately in order to show he means business, hoping to intimidate Batman. After Freeze loses the fight and his leverage, he tries appealing to Batman's sympathy. As for why Batman agreed: he probably was always going to save Nora, but the cure, Joker, and protocol 10 came first.
Batman threatened Freeze's life and almost killed him back when he found him captured by Penguin, as Freeze wouldn't cooperate with him on helping him get his suit, and forcing the poor man to work on a cure, while Joker had Nora taken. Freeze had every right to be angry with Batman after being blackmailed by him for too long, while at the same time, wanting Joker to pay for everything he did to them both. He feels the struggle Batman goes through, and knows he'll always help him get his wife out of danger, but he's still a villain to the Dark Knight no matter what. Same way for the Bat. They don't care about each other's well being, only their own separate goals. It's a love-hate relationship they have.
I always loved how the conversations give you backstory. "Remember what happened last time." Nice to know he has a history with freeze. It's the details that count.

Best boss fights in the series 1) Mr Freeze (Arkham City) 2) Bane (Arkham Origins) 3) Scarecrow (Arkham Asylum) 4) Deathstroke (Arkham Origins) 5) Ras al Ghul (Arkham City)
Blacko Irene I know how to beat him. What I'm saying is, I find it odd that Batman doesn't take his gun away from him after he knocks him down. Seems like that would make the fight really easy.
I was playing on Normal difficulty so I don't know if this technique will work on more difficult settings. Freeze killed me 3 or 4 times because I had forgotten all the ways to attack him and then I just so happened to find a really easy way to attack him over and over with the same technique. I did the console/cable/shock trick. Then I ran around the corner,up the stairs, got on the railing and did the drop takedown on him. As he was recovering,I simply repeated the same steps and did the drop takedown again. I did this series 4 or 5 times and beat Freeze. He only adjusted his technique only after shocking him,not any of the other times.
@@TheExeption Perhaps once upon a time. For me the decreasing returns in the quality of his frequent performances has dropped his stock for me. I find myself preferring Bruce Greenwood (Under the Red Hood, Young Justice, and Gotham by Gaslight) or even Roger Craig Smith (Arkham Origin, Batman Ninja, Superman: Red Son). I find there is more depth to both their performances while still being intimidating as Batman.
HeavyDonkeyKong the story for this is quite simple, you had to pay attention to Dialogue. When you rescue Mr. Freeze, Batman forces Mr. Freeze to tell him about the gun Penguin has, plus his cooperation to make a cure. Mr. Freeze would prefer spending time on finding his wife+a cure for her sickness. Since Batman won’t let him he holds a big grudge. Probably why he had 2 vials with one in a safe as be planned on breaking it in-front of him, but at the same time him probably needing Batman to find his wife for him so he’d wager the cure for finding Nora
Fun fact: While Freeze can evolve against any other strategy in this fight there is one move he has no protection against. When he freezes the ledge he is constantly vulnerable to a slip off drop attack from Batman after leading him to coming out from under a platform with a ledge that has been frozen. Guess its one of those secret moves that the software guys didn't prepare for.
***** Yeah but once he froze the ledge the silent takedown wasn't available. The move that I was talking about was a slip off drop attack. When freeze comes under a ledge u can stand on the ledge and if it is frozen Batman can slip off the edge right on top of him. The only thing u have to do is get on it when it is frozen and u will slip automatically. And if freeze is directly underneath he is u will land right on top of him and he will be vulnerable.
Love this boss fight, the design is great, having to adapt to Mr. Freeze's resistances and thinking about different ways to deal damage. Also the atmosphere, music and Mr. Freeze's voice make a badass combination.
Knight was good but had too much Batmobile and tank battles. City had a great story and awesome boss fights. I'm really excited to get Return to Arkham when it comes out.
Mr. freeze: “it’s over, that’s all I could manufacture.” Batman: “man, too bad some psycho destroyed the other vial for no reason, hope this doesn’t negatively effect Nora in anyway.” Mr. freeze: “...”
Even with hundreds of hours pushed into this games, this boss still finds new things to use against me. I'm glad Rocksteady utilized freeze's intelligence and you can very rarely use the same technique twice against him. This boss was ahead of it's time.
I like the fact that many Batman villains like Mr Freeze, Scarecrow, Mad Hatter & Calendar Man were first made as joke villains but now they’re some of his most dangerous and threatening villains.
None of those guys were really "joke villains." Gadget villains, maybe, and Silver Age-y and goofy, but they weren't deliberate "jokes" like Condiment King.
2:46 FREEZE:I will not.. Batman hits him Freeze :DA FUCK MAN! I DIDN´T EVEN FINISHED MY EPIC SPEECH! BATMAN: Oh,sorry,Victor,i just wanted to get this over with cos,y´know, I´M DYING! AND I NEED MY CURE ASAP! Freeze: (immitating Black Panther) I don´t care! (Kills him with a deadly ice blast)

You've given me your last order! *Freeze grass his freeze gun* Freeze: This is not a time for negotiations Batman! *Boss Fight 2 starts* Batman: Oracle! Freeze is attacking me...Again! Oracle: Oh for the love of... Harley: Well.... that escalated quickly!!
Not me. I can do it on hard New Game Plus with ease. The strategy is to use the fact that he follows your footprints against him. But, always be in position, and if you’re in the vent, watch out for the stupid heat seeking things, that fucked me over before. You can batarang the heat seekers, just move afterwards or it could possibly be game over because after you hit the heat seekers, Freeze has already started towards your position. This could also lead to you getting him with the electrical magnet or really any takedown if you approach him right.
Wondering what Freeze will be like in the Arkham Origins DLC, assuming it is actually him we'll be meeting. Interesting to note that Oracle mentions that last time they fought, Batman just tried to punch his way through it. Certainly sounds like what BAO's Batman would do. I'd have thought that they fight more than twice though. Unless the DLC takes place a significant time after the game. Anyway, I suppose all we can do is wait and see.
Master Reviewer Ah. Fair enough. I suppose this means that a more experienced Batman thought he could just punch the shit out of Freeze. That seems strange to me, but it's not too big a deal.
1:01 mr. Freeze: are you feeling you look unwell. Batman: give it to me. mr. Freeze: I'm afraid I cannot do that Batman you have given me your last order
@@Dhhtyu4566 The point is that you have to utilize various techniques and gadgets that you’ve unlocked throughout the game. The same two attacks won’t work twice because if you use a specific kind of takedown on freeze he will simply deploy some sort of counter measure so it won’t work again. For example, if you leap at him through the windows, he’ll freeze all the windows shut. You need to use your brain and everything you’ve learned so far to get past this. It’s terrifying watching this mechanical creature stomping through the room in search of you. But none of this really matters since you have detective mode. Spoiler alert: Freeze restricts your one saving grace. Use detective mode for too long and he will track and jam it. Making it unusable for the rest of the fight. With most predator bosses, you’re simply fighting one person with a horde of henchman to back them up, in this case it’s one powerful enemy, also, they are easily manipulated and could be tricked into going into a simple loop or you can lose them by breaking the line of sight. Freeze doesn’t do that. He follows the heat of your footsteps to track your location. If the trail runs cold (no pun intended) he will release seeker drones to pinpoint where you are and then pick up the trail. When heading to the location where the drones landed, he will shoot an ice bomb in hopes of getting some damage off of you. Sometimes when you’re running away you’ll attempt to shoot another ice bomb you however this ice pump isn’t going to land where you are but where Freeze thinks you’ll be, he can predict your movement before you even do anything. The way this boss acts makes it feel like you’re fighting an actual person rather than an NPC, give you the true feeling of being Batman.
“The Clown has my wife, bring her back to me!” “Seriously Victor!? I’m the Goddamn Batman, of course I was going to go after your wife! But now you’ve just made it more difficult by withholding the cure!” “Oh, yeah, I guess you would…”
I like how when you’re punching freeze at the end of the fight and his face switches to joker. It’s the only time in the game that something like that happens and it basically foreshadows the joker hallucinations from Arkham knight

This could be the first time its revealed that batman was the 5th joker
That’s been confirmed by the developers. Good catch!
What do you mean?
@@elcocaino8728 Play or watch Arkham Knight. It has that Joker subplot.
Who was the first four Jokers?

This has to be my favorite and arguably the best boss fight in all Arkham games. It puts everything you learned to the test.
Best boss fights in the series
1) Mr Freeze (Arkham City)
2) Bane (Arkham Origins)
3) Scarecrow (Arkham Asylum)
4) Deathstroke (Arkham Origins)
5) Ras al Ghul (Arkham City)
Firefly in Origins was good too
Scarecrow isn't a boss you're avoiding him
@@gjkirbymartell. All of them.
Always found it kind of cool on how Freeze adapts when Batman uses a takedown.
Was that pun intended? But I agree, bossess like this are good.
This was my favorite boss battle in the whole Arkham series. I love any kind of video game that has an enemy/boss that learns from their mistakes.
City will always be the best
The best Arkham Game, undoubtedly. Best video game ever? Not really but it's way up there...

I remember being shit scared playing this boss the first time the way he just slowly moves around
Is there any particular reason why we couldn't just take his gun away from him after knocking him down?
Just Watch All Of The Attacks To Beat Victor Fries Aka Mister Freeze
Blacko Irene I know how to beat him. What I'm saying is, I find it odd that Batman doesn't take his gun away from him after he knocks him down. Seems like that would make the fight really easy.
+Jason McCloud If You Wanna Disable The Gun You Need The Distratptor But Mister Freeze Is Going To Fix His Freezing Gun
+Jason McCloud The Gun He Takes In Arkham Knight
Blacko Irene But how can he fix it if Batman physically takes it away from him? That's the point I'm making.
They make this look so easy...
Yup
Because it is easy mr freeze doesn't really fight back all he does is shoot his freeze gun at you
In new game plus it's really harder, you need to use almost all the tricks of Batman

@@bengilhooly3616 it is but some people would argue it. This line makes it definitive for me
@@TheExeption I would. Conroy's best work as Batman was long before these games. I honestly felt he has been phoning it in after Asylum.
@@trueblue6201 his peak was not my point. Simply that conroy sit he definitive batman. It sounds like we are in agreement
I love how Freeze and Bats start Chilling again after They just had a scuffle with one another. Lmao

The boss fight gameplay itself is brilliant. The story behind it is bollocks.
Well thankfully, gameplay comes before story. Still doesn't make sense tho imo.
+Barry Guillory As evidenced around the 7:00 minute mark.
I didn't watch that. I just left the comment.
He used the magnet at 7:00.
+Barry Guillory Notice the "(Y) Silent Takedown" as Mr. Freeze aproaches the ledge, which evidences what you were saying...
1:39 Dang, that voice tone shift is chilling (no pun intended)
Not gonna lie i was scared of this dude when I was playing this mission
Same, when I played this game first time, I got to this part around 2am. After he killed me, I was so scared that I decided to wait till morning.
Mr Freeze...you need to 'lighten' up
btw you're sounding just like The Terminator
I loved this battle!
Qbb Rock! me too though it's quite hard and you need to 'time' yourself
***** believe me, it took me 5 times to take him out and I'm on the 'easy/normal' mode...smh -_-

Delon Luu It took 2 times in difficult mode...... just kidding, it took me +10...
Qbb Rock! you think that's bad?...wait till you get to the Ghost Train level aka The Joker boss
Love this boss fight, the design is great, having to adapt to Mr. Freeze's resistances and thinking about different ways to deal damage. Also the atmosphere, music and Mr. Freeze's voice make a badass combination.
Freeze’s voice when he’s all suited up his quite terrifying if I do say so myself.
Arkham City > Arkham Knight
Toshiro Hitsugaya idk there are things city does better and things knight does better
Knight was good but had too much Batmobile and tank battles. City had a great story and awesome boss fights. I'm really excited to get Return to Arkham when it comes out.
+Toshiro Hitsugaya dude you do realise that they're in the making of arkham knight 2 right?

1:41 Hearing his voice change gave me chills, no pun intended. Makes me wish WB would have him return in a live action Batman film.
I like how he doesn’t fall for the same trick every time.
Why do you think this was the highly praised boss fight in the Arkham series?
Mr. freeze: “it’s over, that’s all I could manufacture.”
Batman: “man, too bad some psycho destroyed the other vial for no reason, hope this doesn’t negatively effect Nora in anyway.”
Mr. freeze: “...”
5:55 Get....off.....me-------that's.......what.......she......said.
1:41 That voice gave me chills the first time I heard it. I love it and this take on Mr. Freeze so much!
I love his voice when the helmet goes on
This is the scariest part in the whole game. But I think it’s hilarious when you slam his face into the ground and he’s like “WhAt nO!”
Cleverest boss fight there ever was and probably ever will be.
I wonder if Condiment King, Crazy Quilt and Egghead could be turned into seriously dangerous villains.
None of those guys were really "joke villains." Gadget villains, maybe, and Silver Age-y and goofy, but they weren't deliberate "jokes" like Condiment King.
2:46 FREEZE:I will not..
Batman hits him
Freeze :DA FUCK MAN!
I loved this part of the game... It's so innovative and allows u to choose whichever way(s) you want to hit him...
It's a shame it's one of the few good boss battles in the Arkham trilogy.
7:29 The beginning of Joker being inside Batman!!!!!

7:30
I just realized this was the very beginning of the Joker hallucinations that Batman would begin to have later on in the series
I also noticed that! Because it was never really explained in Arkham City, so it must've been a foreshadowing.
Damn you made it look easy lol I've died sooo many times I'm frustrated 😑 good video
Me too
Whoever came up with this boss, give them a award
5:18 omg all these years later and never knew that was possible :O
Wondering what Freeze will be like in the Arkham Origins DLC, assuming it is actually him we'll be meeting.
Interesting to note that Oracle mentions that last time they fought, Batman just tried to punch his way through it. Certainly sounds like what BAO's Batman would do. I'd have thought that they fight more than twice though. Unless the DLC takes place a significant time after the game.
Anyway, I suppose all we can do is wait and see.
Unfortunately he doesn't try to fight him
Master Reviewer
Er, yes he does. They fight at the end.
I meant that he tried to hide from freeze and then attack him like the arkham city fight
Master Reviewer
Ah. Fair enough. I suppose this means that a more experienced Batman thought he could just punch the shit out of Freeze. That seems strange to me, but it's not too big a deal.
The Crimson Eagle It may have been situational.
This was the last part of the game I played until my dad said it's "too violent." Now, 4 years later, I play Arkham Knight in peace.
I love this boss fight so much that, sometimes, I like to die on purpose just so I could play the level over and over again
"I will kill you Batman"
*after ssome punches in the face*
"Oh nevermind lets go after the clown"
1:01 mr. Freeze: are you feeling you look unwell. Batman: give it to me. mr. Freeze: I'm afraid I cannot do that Batman you have given me your last order
This is easily one of the greatest boss fights in videogame history
7:29 foreshadowing to Arkham Knight?
Not really, he could only see Joker because he was infected with his blood.
This is no joke one of, if not, the best Bossfight in video game history
I never played the game - what is so great about this fight ?
@@Dhhtyu4566
The point is that you have to utilize various techniques and gadgets that you’ve unlocked throughout the game.
The way this boss acts makes it feel like you’re fighting an actual person rather than an NPC, give you the true feeling of being Batman.

i didn't realize it was maurice lamarche doing the voice at first, but after seeing his name in the credits, it's so obvious
“The Clown has my wife, bring her back to me!”
“Seriously Victor!? I’m the Goddamn Batman, of course I was going to go after your wife! But now you’ve just made it more difficult by withholding the cure!”
“Oh, yeah, I guess you would…”
I like how when you’re punching freeze at the end of the fight and his face switches to joker. It’s the only time in the game that something like that happens and it basically foreshadows the joker hallucinations from Arkham knight
I love how this battle made you not do the same thing over and over again and use different tricks
