Huggett was also behind the Nova , Super Nova and all Novation subsequently trickled that tech into ( looking at the circuit for one ) and the Peak . Not sure if he technically was lead on the Summit, but it’s the Peak doubled with his OSCar filter reimagined as well . Quite a legacy of great sounding synths. Rest In Power .
Just a quick comment - this channel is like a great brand name. It's always consistently good. Some channels are really hit and miss, but regardless of the topic, I always watch. Doesn't matter if I like the synth or not, if I want one or not. Always interesting. Thanks for that. The Mantis is far out of my price range but I'm glad it exists.
Thank you! Super interesting pedigree and sound possibilities. And totally get the name as it goes from lulling and sweet to biting your head off in a blink!
Good grief, I've already bought 2 synths this week, and this is seriously looking like another one coming up. It has a beautiful sound to it. Looking forward to the full review.
Can we expect a proper interview with a man himself talking about his history of making synthesizers? I would love to see it. I think we miss it as a synth community.
If the malevolent was 399 and mantis was 599. Or even 599-799, they'd be competing with the minifreak, blofeld, and hydrasynth. I'd rather have a take 5 or teo5 at this price if i had a choice tho.
I understand Paul is a killer player but why do most of these demos have him playing as opposed to the actual user? I ask because there needs to be user feedback on the UI
When making these sort of demos you have to hold the camera and let the demonstrator do their thing. There’s not time to dig in yourself - it takes time to understand a synth - more than a quick demo. When I demo something I’ll have spent hours and hours getting to know it and making music with it so I can give valuable feedback. So put simply.. time. Hence my desire to get hold of one 👍😂
Very nice, quite innovative, but not for me. Heaps better than the last Korg disasters, though. But, as I said, I don't find this synth to have any application in my setup, so I'll pass.

I have a Summit and I absolutely love it. Fabulous synth. Doesn't get the recognition it deserves.

You have a similar voice, at first I thought it was you narrating :)
That synth is gnarly!
It is.. but after this I spent a bit longer with it and got some beautiful subtle modulations going.
@StarskyCarr looking forward to your final analysis on the Mantis. It's truly unique. Wild sounds.
It would of been nice to have a lcd display so you know the names of the presets
I really dig the layout, very clean and orderly. That's a good looking rig. Black on black is classy. Sounds fantastic as well.
What the Hell, your voices are so similar I thought Paul was lip syncing you.
Haha … it’s the ‘make me sound like Starsky’ button on the vocal processing.

It’s already planned. We just need a good time to record it. 🤩
@@StarskyCarr thanks a lot!
Good video and synth sounds excellent.
Sounds very interesting. Big fat bouncy end-cheeks would be a nice historical feature.
Haha… the synth abusers best friend.
The vocoder sounds amazing!
Oh, that was meant to be a joke?
I tried it in Bristol too, very impressed...tempted 😊
awesome...
Sounds really good
This synth could be better than I first thought
a very nice synth with a brute force sound^^
Спасибо, старски карр!
😂👍
omg I want one
Maybe a Malevolent comparison ?
this is obv more complex
Digital oscillators?
Yes
How much will 1 of these cost ?

Dang, imagine some nice wooden sides instead of the big green ones? Hopefully the are removable.
They are on the Malevolent

Instant pass…. Delay instead of Reverb would have been so much nicer.
Then get a cheap delay pedal :P
