Changde is really a special city and I love this city.
The area of this city has been inhabited by humans since around 8,000 years ago.
In that time, the city has changed names several times, but it has been known as Changde since the 12th century.
The city is well known for the Battle of Changde during the Second Sino-Japanese War (1937-45) and the atrocities committed then by the Imperial Japanese Army.
In the past decade, the city has seen a massive construction boom.
New high-rises have sprung up, roads were rebuilt and new schools, parks and museums have opened.

Nice video. Nice neighborhood. Needs more people. It is good to preserve those guard towers so people shall remember that great battle. Salute to the heros.
Kevin Law Your warm blood words moved me, salute to you too, friend
What a supercool area you have taken us to. This combination of rustic and modern architecture is very unique and exciting. China is really advancing in creating these places for people to visit and making a major statement in form and function of public spaces. Max you did it again in bring us another great video.
Thanks to your great words. Many governments tried their best to create name cards for their cities, and this kind of place is a typical name card scenery. So glad you like it.
Have a great day!
There is always something to look forward to on your channel. I am often not disappointed! Please carry on with the great work!

That's me at the beginning of the video with the blue cap!!!!!!!! I had a feeling that i might one day see myself on one of these!!
Wow! So glad to hear that🙏🏻🙏🏻
Welcome back to Changde again, dear friend🍎
@@WalkEast I hope that one day I will return to China. I lived and worked there for ten years. I love your videos and hopefully it will inspire me to do the same here in London. Which city are you from?
@@woodrowclose I'm from Changsha, Hunan Province
Hope you would love to do it in London💐
@@WalkEast I had a feeling you were from Changsha. I went there a few times. Really interesting city. Keep up the great work and maybe one day see you in London.
i'll be honest...
i m not fan at all of theses design. they seems lifeless to me. i prefer the old traditional style design, all theses shapes abstract, cubes and all... the mix of all kind of material like cement, wood, metal and else together.. i very not like this :/
But i still like the global concept of this neighbor, the canal and all the bridge , make me think of Venice in Italia XD, i like the statues and gravures around alots more than the architecture itself.
what are theses little pots tied ? are theses the same things as the little wood plank with a vow or wish in them to get fortune and else ?, it's verys trange, i thougth for a moment that it could be some funeral urns again XD, it would be super creepy.
the painting/picture at 16:20 are very nice, and pretty cheap :O, i would buy some for my home XD
That full red building.. i remember that red is used for important building, soo maybe it was some kind of governement building back in the days :D. that would fit too as it's pretty big.
25:50, i dont know what is this and what it's suppsoe to mean, but it look like a giant Durian XD.
i think this neighbor is pretty nice in his concept, but i would have rpefer traditional style building. with that canal and all the bridge, it would be soo awesome :O
did you make a wish at the end ? never know... maybe it's a magic wheel XD
Thank you, that was very interresting video, even if i didn't like the architecture, i still enjoy alots the canal with bridges and the rest. Really remember me Venice style.
Sadly no electric bike this time :/ But heh, it's not bad to make a bit of sport too :D. and you are lucky it's all flat. In my city, there is alots of road that goes up and down, wich is not always nice for bicycles , very tiring XD
if all the cities in China are similar to Changsha and Changde, i bet there is not enougth with 1 life to see everything :D
Haha, Frank, because you're living in France, which is the master country of this kind of design. This place is trying to imitate that kind of artistic design, but it's not a master level, and I can totally understand your feels.
------------------------------
make me think of Venice in Italia XD
Yes, Changde is a city full of rivers and lakes, it's a water city like Venice too, but not that much.
--------------------
what are theses little pots tied ?
hahahaha funeral urns....laugh crazy...
Those are traditional Chinese wine bottles.
The restaurant tied so much bottles outside to show it's a great place for drinking. That's kind of decoration. Just like many bars put some beer bottles outside to show it's a drinking place.
-----------------------
the painting/picture at 16:20 are very nice, and pretty cheap :
Most of the them are photography works. So glad you like them.I really like several pictures very much, looks great.
------------------
That full red building..
That's a under construction museum, but can you guess what kind of museum is that?
Oh, man, it would be a Changde style cooked food museum. That's crazy to build a museum to introduce the history of food...
------------------------
but it look like a giant Durian XD.
You're right about this. That's an artistic giant durian. A decoration thing, hhahaa
---------
Sadly no electric bike this time :/
Hahaha, without electric bike, I just get a random rental bike to travel a little bit distance to keep shooting, and that's a fun thing to do of me. You know me well, Frank!
------------
if all the cities in China are similar to Changsha and Changde, i bet there is not enougth with 1 life to see everything :D
Hahaha, you're right about this.
I have tons of places to go and I feel maybe I would use the whole life to share all these beautiful places.
Nice day, my friend.
@@WalkEast OOh a food museum ! We have one in my city. Well, it's not for food, but drink.. popular drink created here like Absinthe and else :D. It's very nice to see how it all begins and what they used before to make them. some pictures of old commercial advertising etc..
i m sure it's same with food, it's very interresting ideas for museum.
The only negative point is maybe that after you visit it, you may feel hungry hahaha XD
Oh i see, i see many chinese wine bottle in movies, they seems to be made of clay or similar. I must say, i prefer to see theses traditional bottle instead of the modern glass bottle. They got a better style and make better decoration i think :D
The only negative point is maybe that after you visit it, you may feel hungry hahaha XD.....
So, I would like to visit the food museum after my dinner,,hahah....
Cheers, Frank!
