Hard to argue with any of these. Great list. Recognizing the classics for what they are. None overrated. I would do Realm of Chaos for my Bolt Thrower pick personally but IVth Crusade is also amazing.

I separated a lot of the progressive death and melodic death albums out to keep it a little more straightforward, and this is what I came up with: 10. Gorguts - Obscura 9. Nile - Those Whom the Gods Detest 8. Blood Incantation - Hidden History of the Human Race 7. Pestilence - Consuming Impulse 6. Bloodbath - Nightmares Made Flesh 5. Cannibal Corpse - The Bleeding 4. Bolt Thrower - Those Once Loyal 3. Dragged Into Sunlight - Hatred For Mankind 2. Dismember - Like An Ever Flowing Stream 1. Death - The Sound of Perserverance

11 great albums which are pretty essential to pick up for anyone starting to collect/listen to death metal. Hard not to include Deicide but it's not easy to do a top ten. 🤘🏻
Amazing choices really. One unpopular opinion: I have to say I personally prefer the more primitive grimy atmosphere of Severed Survival. I've always felt like they tried too many things at once on Mental Funeral, and it didn't really work out that well…
Interesting take on that one! I struggle to pick between them, but I just think they improved their songwriting a bit on Mental Funeral. A few more memorable tracks etc. both are stellar albums when it boils down to it, though!
@@Altars_of_Mattness Oh I have to give you/them that. I just dig the raw brutality of the first one more, I feel like the second one tried to be brutal, doomy and even a bit progressive, but ended up being stretched too thin.
Leprosy is still my number one along with Altars of Madness. It was also the first death metal album I purchased as vinyl, although I had already Scream Bloody Gore on tape, and liked it a lot.
You just dropped the name of the two most boring and overrated DM Albums in my opnion. Come on, you can´t say that nothing has been done better in the last 35 years ?! How can that be?
As a drum nerd, I don’t mind them being a bit more blown up. I think it adds a nice groove to the record. Definitely a valid point though, just preferences I guess 😄🤘🏼
