Jawaan Taylor and Maxx Crosby were playing on their own snap count😂 I hope Nick splices that drive together where they both kept going a half second early.
Williams always kind of backs his way onto the field. We'll see how he responds now that he's seeing live action. His up-side may be higher than Watson's. I remember the last time he saw extended action. By the end of it, his numbers looked pretty good. He had his ups and downs. Love his long frame and his ball skills, when he's got his head around. I think it'll come together for him, down the stretch. But I agree. He had a string of plays where he caught the eye, but not in a good way. Keith Taylor was the best guy they had versus speed at one point in camp, iirc. Then he got dinged up, like you said.
Jaylen Watson was the 2nd best db this year, perpetually underrated. He’s outplayed Williams most of his career but draft slot had people favoring Williams, and the fact that he’s 6’3 make people forget Watson is 6’2. I’m still curious how Matt had Jaylen Watson as cb 4/5 and Williams as cb2 heading into the season. Lol
@@jackiemoon5906 Chiefs didn't underrate him! He was the starter over everybody but McDuffie. Wasn't Watson dinged-up or something? Coming back or missing time due to a relatively minor injury? Reid had the quad, but Watson had shoulder surgery or something in the offseason. Maybe I'm remembering wrong. But yeah. Last year and the year before, Watson was seeing the field ahead of Williams. Williams has pretty mad up-side, but makes more mental errors, kind of the same way Willie Gay was, his first couple of years.
@@harrymills2770 right, I meant more so everyone else lol. Him and Williams always got talked about as the same caliber player. Yup Watson was dealing with an injured shoulder, he played late in the final preseason game and it had people thinking he was a backup when he was just trying to get back in game shape. Have a good one
Always a real treat getting to hear Nick's analogy on the game. This show is a real cut above the rest. I could not figure out why they kept pounding Hunt against the middle of that line with no success. I think Raiders are 9th in the league against the run in the middle so no surprise so why didn't the Chiefs have a backup plan? I didn't see any play actions, screens, sweeps, reverse or anything to break up unsuccessfully pounding the middle of that line. Hunt is a valuable resource the Chiefs abused this game. I agree that defensive goal line stand was something to see.
I don't know. The Raiders were biting hard on the play fake, and Mahomes was able to find open targets over the middle. I think that the quick passing game is going to start frustrating edge rushers and they'll be able to set up more of those B-Gap runs, where Morris can kind of let himself be beaten, wide. I think what KC's doing is tough on Kareem, but it's also pretty tough on opposing defenses, because KC's so eager to push pile at the end for the extra couple yards at the end of the run. Defenses really have to strap it on to stop it. And our passing game looks like it's going to start clicking. I don't know how long it'll take to establish Worthy, down the field, but I know they're going to get more opportunities to try.
If you spend a lot of time around coaches or athletes. The best ones are always trying to find ways to improve. They are never satisfied. It is why they have the success they do. It’s why the Chiefs have the success they do. Their pillars of the locker room, Reid and Veach are always pushing to improve. So my job as an analyst is to point out the spots they are likely working on so fans can see the growth through the season. It is why we get the reviews we do from so many they enjoy the ride of the season. As Andy Reid has said in many press conferences I’ve been at over the past 12 years now. “It’s like being a farmer. The work is never done.”
Yeah, I noticed the times nobody helped Kareem up. Then the next play, they'd help him up. I don't much care about Kareem's ypc. They're getting positive yards on almost every carry, and sometimes 5 or 6 yards on 1st down. And now, with Hopkins, I think they're getting their quick passing game on rhythm. I think that between the short passing and the modest, but consistently positive, slobber-knocking runs, we'll start seeing more shot plays and intermediate completions. That will open up the running game, somewhat. I get that Nick's concerned about Kareem's health. So am I. I'm a running-back-by-committee guy from way back. Argued for it back in the MartyBall days, when everyone wanted a feature back, and King Carl was burning 1st-round picks on RBs instead of blockers for RBs. The thing about the KC rushing attack is that as long as they're getting positive yards out of it, they're going to stay committed to it, because of the other things it opens up. It was a tough slog for CEH. That's why they got him. The O-Line was failing, but KC needed a tough-as-nails RB to get those low-or-no-gain carries, getting hit by Big Uglies behind the line. Maybe they'll start mixing in some CEH. RB for KC isn't glamorous.
I too notice they left Kareem lying on the turf after the play a few times. I was like, come guys, hbo, help a brother out. Lol. Congrats Nick!
Yeah, I noticed that, too. Kareem is putting it all out on the field, & his teammates need to respect that.
@@davidmcqueen3010 I'm sure they do, and I'm sure they got an earful if we noticed it.
Congrats Nick! Definitely some stiff competition you beat out. Appreciate the content you’re giving us.

Congrats Nick on the award!
Congrats Nick. You deserve it.
It is exciting to see what Chiefs can do on third and long and in the red zone with Kelce and Hopkins out there
Congratulations Nick!
Congrats on the emmy!

34:12, I felt exactly the same way, Nick! Watching it live made me wonder
I think Hopkins is going to fit in just fine.
Great insight thank you

I feel like the Chiefs could go 76 - 0 this season, and Nick would still be like "They need to do better." 🤣🤣🍻
He’s been better. But the pessimism has a way of slipping in. We all know it’s not been perfect. Never is.
They could be better, a lot better. Scary

Nick it will be ok.. Pacheco will be back soon and Steele and Perine will take on some of the load down the stretch.
We have Steele for a reason, yeah he fumbles, but they should be able to use him more to give Kareem a breather
I am assuming Wiley is still trying to polish up his knowledge of the playbook.
I would love to get a LT,
David bhaktiari!
Chiefs not going to go far in playoffs unless they get another CB, still need those tackles to play better
Chiefs need to trade for a corner or another receiver.
What? No
