JA has earned the starter role. Bring up KK and get him used to how the Avs play in practice. Hopefully KK can get into the net after we play Nashville. Both Tampa and Nashville should be JA in net. Go Avs Go
We already have answers to the goalie question. I’m sorry if it’s not to your liking but it is what it is. Annunen is the better goalie for now. Thank you for a great podcast btw, I really enjoy listening to you guys.
We have the answer as it stands today. I can't sit here and say that's the answer for the rest of the season. I hope it is, but we don't know. I don't even think the Avs know long term right now.
Let's just rip the bandaid off and put Georgiev on Waivers. He'll surely clear and needs to get some games with the Eagles. This is Jack Campbell 2.0. If he fails in the AHL, so be it.
The goalie discussion will get even more interesting for the next episode after tonight’s game as it’s confirmed that Kahkonen is starting against the Lightning. Fully understand all the folks who have fully jumped off the Georgiev bus, never to return. However, many of those same folks are fully endorsing Kahkonen over Georgiev even though there’s far from any certainty that he’ll be any better. I’m in the camp where I’m glad he’s getting the start tonight to get a glimpse of what to potentially expect but I’m also not yet jumping for joy because he could be crap. My hope is for a good showing and that Annunen and Kahkonen can be a good one-two punch moving forward but we’re still far off from really knowing that answer even if he were to come in and pitch a shutout.
Thoughts for todays pod: Team is better with georgie if they can get him to the .890 range, but the team has to play better for that to happen. Kappo has shown that he isnt a back up. Kovi will be the guy to bridge the gap till lehky/drouin. Wood is a 3rd line guy at best. He is playing with intensity, but he doesnt get results. Im not sure wood can defend his job vs kovi and ivan when the team is fully healthy
Admittedly it was a bit cheap to say "could go either way." For the prediction. But im clearly leaning Avs for 3-2. But with everything the Avs are going through compared to what a healthy Avs team could do. This can be a toss up.
I had the same thought about being bummed for Ross that he isn't going to get to play against his former team. Playing the best hockey of his career so far. I was really looking forward to seeing how long he could sustain it.
Just finished hearing your goalie commentary ….you must of thought this after kappo pickup, juices first 2 games, Georgie’s performance? I’m a nobody and I thought this after last season in conjunction with Georgie’s start. many wins last season but Avs 30ish comebacks saved him come on shaggy, get Frankie to come back! Lol
Miles Wood is playing well enough to play on the top line?!? what Miles Wood are you watching? Dude would be the first player I’d scratch if we weren’t so banged up
I was carving pumpkins while listening yesterday, so I couldn't comment. I'm not georgiev apologist, but that was a team in front of him loss. from the first powerplay the hawks looked unstoppable. If I didn't know about either team I would have assume the hawks were favored to win the division while the avs to finish last. The hawks held the puck and zone all night, while the avs couldn't complete a pass. The defense caused all of those goals by not doing anything. Would I like the one that squeezed by to be saved...yes, but i also want the rest of the team to show up. Georgiev was the only player who showed up after the first period. I've never been to a game where I wanted my money back, but that was a horrible game to see in person and I want my money back. Many games were on georgie, that just wasn't one of them
What day did the Avs lend Kappo to the Eagles? I agree I think at very least they should’ve just waited till the weekend but there is a 14 day limit in a conditioning stint so I wonder if that may have played a part in the decision to call him up.
I dont disagree in general, but if you watched that game and determined that georgie was the problem I'm at a loss for words. Annunen was going to lose that game too. They are playing bad as a team and georgie is getting the blame. When he is gone and they play that same game and get smoked, who gets blamed?
@JeffWoodworth-xr2ki absolutely, he is a problem. The team in front is also a problem, and they also need to play better. The best case scenario right now looks to be juice starting, but if they play better as a team georgiev should be good enough to be the back up. That or they are going to need to make a move. I dont believe kappo is the answer for back up
I'm not here to say JA shouldn't be the starter right now. I just want to make sure our expectations are realistic. It seems like Avs fans sometimes forget that the organization purposely has chosen not to make goaltending a high priority. They won't recruit stars or pay too much for the position, and instead are looking for goalies who are "good enough" as they pay for other positions. It is a strategy that has brought some success. When we compare Georgiev to the rest of the league, remember that 29 other goalies make more money than him. You don't have to like him, but maybe you should question the organization's philosophy towards goalies as well.

Geo is a free agent Campbell is signed for years i believe
Get some kinda value out of him first
@@shaggyvondoom at his current market value, would a 4th or 5th Round puck even be feasible?

No on Miles on first line, no shot and bonehead penalties. Maybe low IQ. Kovalenko best option if Colton out til drouin or leky comeback
I’m good with anyone, that talent will elevate
Haha, I am watching Wednesday after the announcement was made: Kappo STARTS tonight vs Tampa. I haven't heard yet who the backup is.
I had the same thought about being bummed for Ross that he isn't going to get to play against his former team. Playing the best hockey of his career so far. I was really looking forward to seeing how long he could sustain it.
giving up soft goals will deflate a team. they came out strong the first 2 games ….maybe most games…. Subconsciously effects a team, soft goals
Exactly my point
@@shaggyvondoom good point and dangitall.

2-5 lightning. Vaslesky factor
He’s blocked my number…so has Naz lol

Disagree with the scratch he’s been good
I wouldnt scratch him, but he is definately not top line play

Last week. It was technically a "loan" for a conditioning stint. So he didn't need to clear waivers to play for them
I think it’s time to test him
3 goals in first 7 shots. I don’t care if they were freaky goals, that is the MO of Georgie right now
It’s not a great way to begin games

@ okay the team didn’t play well last game. He still has given up multiple goals in the first ten shots he’s faced in every game he’s played this year

I’m playing it on actual guitar while the intro plays lol

Avalanche have missed the opportunity to get a proven veteran goalie like Allen or Fleury to back up Georgiev.
Lmao georgiev bails us out 😂😂
Can Georgiev be sent down to AHL?
Would have to clear waivers but yes
Why would you
*two FEWER games (not less).
Just send Georgiev for some time to the Eagles and give him some time to recover.
