I don't usually cry from films, but I always get weepy at a few parts including the ending. I felt more for Kemosabe shooting off toy guns saying "asshole" than I did for most of the Avengers at the end of Infinity War.
I grew up in Memphis and I still consider this the best movie adaption of Elvis Presley of all time (other than Elvis himself). Edit: I also cried at the end when he died before finishing "Thank you very much."
Definitely a guilty pleasure and a good friend of mine who sadly is no longer with us recommended this movie to me and I'm glad he did. Rest in Power Will 🥀🥀🥀
Speaking of Bubba Ho-Tep I FUCKING ❤️ ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ this movie along with practically every other Bruce Campbell film My Name is Bruce, The Man With The Screaming Brain, Sundown The Vampire In Retreat, Crime Wave, The Evil Dead Trilogy and Ash Vs The Evil Dead, Burn Notice which is how I discovered Bruce Campbell in 2007
I saw it on release ... **I** have not forgotten it ... I think I've linked the trailer to people at least 3 times in the last 10 days. LOVE this movie.
What a great analysis! Really enjoyed it. You made me want to watch it again. I love horror movies, and Ash Williams and Da Mayor are two of my favorite movie characters, like, ever, so this movie was a surreal dream come true for me.
The best movie I've seen over 100 times lol. Bruce is my favorite actor. Thank you JoBlo for spotlighting great movies in these segments. Introducing great movies to new folks always a big +.
I was chillin at one of my best friends house and he had this on dvd and I was like oh you got bubba ho tep? He points at his wife and says yeah her uncle joe wrote that crazy shit. But yeah her uncle was the guy that wrote the book was her uncle. This was in nacogdoces texas which is where part of the movie was based .
I loved the music they had for that movie. I remember the music video for the main theme was a special feature. Oh yeah, and the dvd came in a bedazzled white leather jacket case.
I thought this movie was AWESOME! I bought it on impulse because I'll look at anything Bruce Campbell does (the same can be said of author Joe Lansdale, who also is super cool, he wrote The Complete Drive-In). It's funny and sad and bittersweet; it's not really scary, not like you would expect.
I copied and pasted this from someone elses Bubba review because I thought you might be interested. Okay this was cool. My lifelong friend from Oakland, Ca. Adam J. was the director of photography for this and 2 other Coscerelli Phantasm movies although he was only credited with one. Bubba Ho Tep was supposed to be a pretty quick shoot. For various reasons it turned into a logistical nightmare and took weeks longer in the Texas heat to finish this film. He actually got a bit of praise for his work on this. But he also said that the good looking blonde girl in the movie was an absolute nightmare to work with LOL
I've never seen this movie. However, I get the feeling it would still work without the mummy. Seems like the kind of story that could still work as a straight up comedy.
So I just stopped this review because the movie sounds awesome and wanted to watch it for myself and just saw it's included with Amazon Prime! Just, fyi.
I’m sorry but... Did you just assume I haven’t seen Bubba Ho Tep?!! It’s fucking legendary, I find it offensive that people wouldn’t know this is a film... Now ironically... I have seen this twice once when I got my hands on the dvd and again after I OD’d we all know where you end up after an OD... It’s why we need to question those big pharma sleep meds... Don’t fuckin’ trust the fuckas! It was like I basically shouted at my sister and said I am sick of this shit and I ran to grab the bottle my sister said “whatever drown yourself in them” to this day that’s not considered an attempted murder/suicide... I mean she literally pepped me to do it... In was depressed as fuck and she didn’t pep me down. Some say my mind didn’t recover some say I got a little paler some say a lot. Me? I am surprised I breathe still... Unless this is all a coma dream... It’s a fuckin’ coma nightmare if that’s the case. But hey, the bright side is I am still trying to figure out what the fuck Mandy was... But more importantly what the fuck Willy’s Wonderland was... Seriously what the fuck was Willy’s Wonderland... Did I just fade deeper into the coma nightmare?!!
Agree bro, but you talk too fast. And Bruce Campbell's char is actually Elvis. He was disguised as an Elvis impersonator to hide that it was actually him. Imagine being Elvis Presley and everyone thinks you're an Elvis impersonator. That's the movie. Not disagreeing with anything you said, but the delivery was 3/10.
On the DVD there's an audio commentary with Bruce Campbell as Elvis, staying in character all the time. It's a blast.
Absolutely genius! The nonchalant way he goes about eating popcorn and taking phone calls brings it to a whole new level of hilarious!
The DVD is 100% worth owning. When Netflix got rid of DVD's you really lost a lot of great stuff.
Bruce Campbell in character as Elvis doing the secondary commentary track on the dvd is the greatest thing I've ever almost died watching.
I don't usually cry from films, but I always get weepy at a few parts including the ending. I felt more for Kemosabe shooting off toy guns saying "asshole" than I did for most of the Avengers at the end of Infinity War.
He went out guns blazing, and he kept his soul. Kemosabe is the goat
This movie is better than it has any right to be, considering it’s plot. But the whole notion of finding new meaning in life is absolutely beautiful.
Bubba Ho Tep is such a great movie!
I grew up in Memphis and I still consider this the best movie adaption of Elvis Presley of all time (other than Elvis himself). Edit: I also cried at the end when he died before finishing "Thank you very much."
Glad I'm not the only one to that shed a tear. This movie was awesome.
This is how you make a great movie with a small budget
Definitely a guilty pleasure and a good friend of mine who sadly is no longer with us recommended this movie to me and I'm glad he did. Rest in Power Will 🥀🥀🥀

…it’s a great film!
Saw this in theaters when it came out
I knew Elvis was alive!!!
I've never seen this movie. However, I get the feeling it would still work without the mummy. Seems like the kind of story that could still work as a straight up comedy.

To save you ten minutes. It's a Bruce Campbell movie. Go watch it!
We need more more movies that are just fun and silly like this. =)
Your hashtag for Bruce Campbell has a typo. Just a heads up.
My pecked cluttered like a pigeon having a heart attack
This time you are right. Never watched it, and after the seeing clips from the movie i never will..
Very Marmite. I loved it , but many wouldn't.

I never found it compelling, it take too long to get going, and the ending doesn't feel like that much of a payoff.
Bruce's worst movie
If you talk in an annoying geeky, nasally voice then you are ready for You Tube.
Have you heard wrestler Disco Inferno's podcast?
one of the worst movies i've ever seen. couldn't even finish it.
its way too melodramatic and the ending is unsatisfactory
You watched. You paid them. Job well done. They did what they were suppose to do
