Let's talk about this series. Cause it was a hugely one sided series for IG. Fnatic had very poor drafts in all 3 games. In fact those drafts were timid and scared. You had Fnatic banning LeBlanc when against Cloud9, they brought out bold drafts forcing Cloud9 to ban LeBlanc against them. Instead you had Fnatic prioritizing picks like Urgot when they should of been using the blue side to flex picks around. Fnatic said Blue side was going to be important. I think Young Buck said that. It was, for IG since they used the red side to counter pick Fnatic in those 2 games. I don't get why they couldn't flex Irelia to top in the first game. Why the Urgot priority? Then you had issues with the players themselves with Bwipo absolutely feeding up top. He showed no respect for any jungle pressure from Ning and kept on getting ganked over and over when he over extended. He made The Shy and Ning the win conditions for their games. It didn't help that Broxah had his worst games at Worlds. He played safe and passive, not wanting to try to make plays which I couldn't understand. He was on lee Sin. The early of earliest of junglers. No level 2 or 3 ganks. In fact it was Ning that was ganking pre level 6 before Broxah and I was watching Broxah, he was deep in his jungle farming. Dude at this level, you can't revert back to your previous playstyle. You played passive and allowed the other jungler to swing the solo lanes in their favor. Then there was Caps who also like Bwipo didn't show any respect since he was getting ganked by Ning. Ning looked like a god tier jungler this series. To me he was the MVP of this series for the way he played. And finally lets talk about Rekkles. He frustrates the hell out of me since he NEVER plays the meta picks. Its his Tristana or his Sivir. When has those picks been meta? And is Sivir really a meta pick? When you have Xayah or Kaisa. Something that I always had a beef with Rekkles is that he doesn't play playmakers. His champion pool is pretty thin when you look at it since IG actually forced Rekkles on Jhin of all picks. If he was going to play Jhin, he could of played Varus instead and actually had pushing lanes. Then there is the hubris, the cockiness that Rekkles and Bwipo and Fnatic showed. They were destined to win Worlds. This was their time. In their words, they said this. They were looking at the finish line, thinking they will beat IG. But after game 1, the look on Rekkles face was fear. You could actually see the fear in his face after that beat down that IG gave them. Fnatic were completely unprepared for IG and it showed in their drafts and the passive way they played. When Rekkles said in one of behind the scenes videos on the Fnatic site. He said this. "If the game gets to late, then I will win it." DUDE, the game never will get there since by 30 minutes your 10k gold down. You can't think like that. Rekkles and Fnatic went into the finals woefully unprepared and with the wrong mindset. And what is worse, this will haunt them hard because they never gave themselves a chance to win. That hubris cost them dearly. And whats worse for them is that Caps is almost assuredly leaving the organization because Fnatic won't be able to keep Caps when teams like Team Liquid come knocking with 1 million dollar contracts. How the hell does Fnatic deal with that? Their team is going to be broken up and they won't be the same team next year. This year was their year and Fnatic fucked it up big time. What a wasted opportunity. Such a huge disappointment for me to watch this fall apart through hubris and cockiness.

That is one of the most magnificent Kaisa performances I've seen at worlds...and the Gragas play beforehand...Ik everyone is favoring Fnatic but seriously you can't deny their Kaisa and Gragas of Invictus is among the best I have ever seen in the history of league...
I really enjoyed when theshy walked up to rookie after they won and everything slowed down a bit while rookie was realizing what happened with tears of joy and theshy just hug him with a big smile. Like the two korean brothers they are ruling as players in the lpl. Always amazing to come back to and get that joyful feeling back.

FNC were hella cocky and arrogant the entire tourney disrepecting opponents and belittling them after every win. They had this coming and got their asses handed to them by IG just embarrassed. Phyreflie It was boring unless you are an ig fan specifically. Nothing happened except the baron steal and the fight straight after and that’s all series the only exciting things that happened. Just solo laners disrespecting the jungles completely and getting stomped
NA and dont care about either team. It was a waste of time. The worst worlds I've ever wasted 2 hours on. Not because fnc lost, but because there was no competition. Non fanboys like to see competition, probably why game 3 was when the crowd sounded the most pleased.
Team3AM I know what you’re saying cos they were both fnatic plays, but other than that what actually exciting happened, pretty much every time someone died you knew it was going to happen about 5 to 10 seconds before the gank or the play happened. Not many insane team fights from what I can remember just what you’d expect after a team gets ahead, they win the fights then take objectives. Which obviously is how the game should be played but it’s not the most fun thing to watch. Kills don’t equal fun in this game surprises do
Well done IG, first ever LPL world champions, was not the finals I was expecting though, FNC didn't put up much of a fight (But I can't deny that Baron steal, gg Broxah gg) but yeah IG just played better than their opponent in all three games.
@@mikymouse666 IG just outclassed them to be honest. Fanatics has a decent run to finals but they played EDG and C9 in quarter and semi finals. IG eleminted KT and G2 (team that eleminted RNG). IG just grew better in the series and key player came into form. Did you see TheShy's performance in the G2 match? He was so good, he came back from behind and absolutely obliterated them. And a simply thing here, no team would agree to a 3-0 game for money. It has the serious potential to end careers and even disbanding of thr team. This is just IG being a better team on this day, they adopted better with the meta and some key players came to form at the right time.
Sad for the result but i'm happy to see that EU continue to stay consistently in 2' place. I'm also really happy to see that they went so far with a full european team, no import, no koreans. I really hope that there are no change in the next season because i really like the current FNC team.
In order 1) if you don't remember who plays in final that's your issue, usually people remember who reached final in a season + some other really fun match 2)i don't see why Korea should be considered 2', damn Afreeca lost against C9. The 2 big favourite in this tournament at the start were KT and RNG and they were defeated by IG and G2. That being said is just my opinion, there are people that will say NA>EU after this so who cares?

Honestly, as a Chinese, I think all the good teams in this series have benefited from 8.19 meta. Definitely it is very balanced for each lane, especially for top-mid lane. There's no way for LCK traditional style or LPL bot lane strategy. NA and EU teams got better understanding of this and quicker adjustment than LPL and LCK, so they deserve the semifinals, especially crushing the most stubborn LCK. But when it came to semifinal, all the teams understood well of it. Here comes the second story. As we have seen through all the series that the arrogant always fall, first RNG, last FNC. RNG misbelieved their strategy and thought G2 is trash, so they pay for it. FNC thought they had beaten IG twice before and crushed EDG, but they misunderstood the reason. IG lost to them because they underestimated FNC after the first win, and EDG lost mainly because of their wrong strategy in this meta, not of their skill. Honestly I don't think EDG is weaker than FNC, but FNC believed it. After they crushed C9, nothing could stop them being arrogant and overconfident. But another reason why IG swept FNC is that this meta suits IG too well, as is known for LPL fans. Besides, they have learned a lot after their loss in group, and became stronger after battle against KT. Yet FNC still thought IG is the team they met with weeks ago.
This was so satisfying to watch. Especially Rekkles being so cocky and talking thrash about other players and then gets DESTROYED by JackeyLove. Also so many EU delusional fans talking thrash about other teams after they beat them and yet so silent after they lose. I used to love FNC with Peke and Cyanide but they got what they deserved
Honestly I was cheering for C9 up until they lost as I've been a C9 fan since their induction, but that being said I am just very happy that Korea didn't win for once. It's about time someone else got a shot. If this continues maybe worlds will be interesting to watch again. This year it definitely was!
same, I was honestly hoping for C9 vs RNG in the finals, with C9 miraculously winning. But IG winning is not so bad either. The greatest moment during this year's world is Group B(RNG, C9, VIT, Gen G), then the quarter finals where IG beat KT and G2 beat RNG. This year is awesome!!!
I think Rookie is the second most mechanically gifted mid laner ever after Faker. I still remember being shocked at how he beat Dade on his signature Yasuo in the mirror match at 2014 OGN finals.
IG reallllyyy wanted that cup. Shy going in when he can, IG always putting on the pressure, starting up engages, and never lifting the foot off the gas pedal, picking very engage-heavy champions like Camille, Scion, Gragas. They honestly deserve it.
Just here to say that Rekkles said "I dont ever see this team losing 3 games in a row" And then losses 3 games in a row at the finals, they were just to damn cocky
If i'm correct, they didn't make it to the World's group stage, same going with SKT. (SSG's opponent) This Worlds season was just packed full of curveballs.
If you dont follow the LCK then here is a quick summary SSG changed their name to Gen G. In worlds they couldnt accumulate enough wins in group stages to advance to the quarterfinals.

The game can change a lot in a year, so the team that won last time has to qualify just like everyone else; to rub in the fact that the game is significantly different, SSG (now named GenG) didn't even get out of groups - I think they were the first team that was eliminated.
I just hope they release an IG lissandra skin, she was such a great pick throughout the tournament. Sadly, Riot loves to solely consider champion popularity when releasing skins, so I won't be surprised if we see an IG Lux skin at the end.
A year later, the defending champions has to fight through the play-ins for a spot at Worlds. What's up with champion teams preserving their core roster then enter the next season looking like shit (*cough* Gen.G)
Ig destroyed Fnatic. Clearly they had good strategies prepared and the correct mindset. As an Eu fan, thats a big feelsbadman, mostly because FNC was completly out of the game. They should have prepared a lot more. Especially after the super convincing 3-0 on G2. All games under 30min, an incredible game knowledge, strong domination across all lanes. Based on the semi I felt that IG was clear favorite. Strangely the analysts and Fnc said the opposite. Well... wp IG!
The skill level gap is too big different between them. Plus fnatic low team motivation to play ady after lose 2 match. IG jus has big advantages and ez win. Quaterfinal for ig vs kt is more fun and intense than tis final.

IG was just the best team at this worlds to utilize the meta perfectly in their favor, so much they managed to make Kai'sa a early game champ. GG to IG, disappointed by Fnatic but 2nd place is still hella good and I take being the 2nd best region with pleasure
Fnatic jungler was deadweight, he let IG got FB 2 games in a row from jungle gank, let his top lane get raped, tried to help his mid lane but couldn't manage a single proper gank. IG had to give FB for free in game 3 to make it less boring.

the real final was IG vs KT, after that all of the matches are just unworthy to watch.
worlds 2016 and 2017 was somewhat more competitive..sure a new region is the champion, but man, just 3-0s here and there. meh lol
even worst all 9 games were pretty much one-side from beginning to the end. I don't even remember one intense moment in all of them.

IG finally played at their best in a best of five. Best team in the world by far and best individual players in almost every position.

@@mikymouse666 IG just outclassed them to be honest. Fanatics has a decent run to finals but they played EDG and C9 in quarter and semi finals. IG eleminted KT and G2 (team that eleminted RNG).
IG just grew better in the series and key player came into form. Did you see TheShy's performance in the G2 match? He was so good, he came back from behind and absolutely obliterated them.
And a simply thing here, no team would agree to a 3-0 game for money. It has the serious potential to end careers and even disbanding of thr team. This is just IG being a better team on this day, they adopted better with the meta and some key players came to form at the right time.

Honestly, as a Chinese, I think all the good teams in this series have benefited from 8.19 meta.
Definitely it is very balanced for each lane, especially for top-mid lane. There's no way for LCK traditional style or LPL bot lane strategy.
NA and EU teams got better understanding of this and quicker adjustment than LPL and LCK, so they deserve the semifinals, especially crushing the most stubborn LCK.
But when it came to semifinal, all the teams understood well of it.
Here comes the second story. As we have seen through all the series that the arrogant always fall, first RNG, last FNC.
RNG misbelieved their strategy and thought G2 is trash, so they pay for it.
FNC thought they had beaten IG twice before and crushed EDG, but they misunderstood the reason.
IG lost to them because they underestimated FNC after the first win, and EDG lost mainly because of their wrong strategy in this meta, not of their skill. Honestly I don't think EDG is weaker than FNC, but FNC believed it. After they crushed C9, nothing could stop them being arrogant and overconfident.
But another reason why IG swept FNC is that this meta suits IG too well, as is known for LPL fans. Besides, they have learned a lot after their loss in group, and became stronger after battle against KT. Yet FNC still thought IG is the team they met with weeks ago.
This was so satisfying to watch. Especially Rekkles being so cocky and talking thrash about other players and then gets DESTROYED by JackeyLove. Also so many EU delusional fans talking thrash about other teams after they beat them and yet so silent after they lose. I used to love FNC with Peke and Cyanide but they got what they deserved

Honestly I was cheering for C9 up until they lost as I've been a C9 fan since their induction, but that being said I am just very happy that Korea didn't win for once. It's about time someone else got a shot. If this continues maybe worlds will be interesting to watch again. This year it definitely was!

But IG winning is not so bad either.
The greatest moment during this year's world is Group B(RNG, C9, VIT, Gen G), then the quarter finals where IG beat KT and G2 beat RNG.

This is actually my first time watching Worlds and I'm quite confused, didn't SSG won last year's Worlds? Why aren't they here?

The game can change a lot in a year, so the team that won last time has to qualify just like everyone else; to rub in the fact that the game is significantly different, SSG (now named GenG) didn't even get out of groups - I think they were the first team that was eliminated.

As an Eu fan, thats a big feelsbadman, mostly because FNC was completly out of the game. They should have prepared a lot more. Especially after the super convincing 3-0 on G2. All games under 30min, an incredible game knowledge, strong domination across all lanes. Based on the semi I felt that IG was clear favorite. Strangely the analysts and Fnc said the opposite. Well... wp IG!
The skill level gap is too big different between them. Plus fnatic low team motivation to play ady after lose 2 match. IG jus has big advantages and ez win. Quaterfinal for ig vs kt is more fun and intense than tis final.

Fnatic jungler was deadweight, he let IG got FB 2 games in a row from jungle gank, let his top lane get raped, tried to help his mid lane but couldn't manage a single proper gank. IG had to give FB for free in game 3 to make it less boring.
