No wonder I love watching you so much. I was in hospitality for 30 years and went to school for it. But 2 years ago I left it. I still love the people and the industry. But don't love how is changed. I was a assistant General manager at a hotel. And it can be stressful at times. I just binged like 4 of your videos. I actually work at Target have for 6 years. And love your Target videos. Sometimes you have stuff before us. And that's crazy because I love in a suburb of Minneapolis the home and headquarters for Target.

When I was in school everyone ate the cafeteria food, but once you got into junior high and high school since we were a tiny little town that was safe they would let us walk to the grocery store to get snacks or deli sandwiches, the convenience store, and the little restaurants.
I am going there to get my bulletin board stuff for my classroom
We just went school shopping yesterday didn’t even think of the dollar tree but some things were cheaper. Our kids lists have specific brands teachers want and we buy extra in case supplies run out for the class. I graduated in 2009 and we had off campus so we walked to get food or drove when we got older. My husband graduated same year but different part of California and they had fast food option on campus too.
I went to school from 7:30-12:30 in high school. We were on block schedule. So I went home for lunch however if you had 4 classes instead of 3 then you had a lunch break.

I graduated 10 years ago and my high school had a vending machine that only had expired chips in it haha! Can’t imagine having a chick fil a in the building! That’s amazing! Most people bought lunch, but I always brought my own.

What!! I have never seen such a organized Dollar Tree ours here in S Florida look like a bomb went off. I have bought light bulbs for the stove before they work great. Katie you do a great job covering things for everyone I enjoy your videos even if not something I would need. Keep up the great work Katie.
Our DT is also a big ole mess! Almost every aisle is blocked by unopened boxes of stock. 🤦♀️💖

That's sooo funny I only had the two orange, wooden pumpkins at my DT too!! ( : I have seen some huge hauls already for Fall, though! ( : There is going to be some gorgeous pieces arriving hopefully soon (best I have ever seen in the past 25+ years I have shopped here)! ( : I love papermate gel pens too!! They wrote soooo well! ( : It is sooo funny how little we physically write nowadays too, isn't it?! ) : It is crazy to me, having grown up only writing, and now hardly anyone writes anything own to paper! Makes me feel very old!! Soooo weird! ) :
DT definitely has some amazing school supplies! ( : Not doubt about it! Their products are just getting better and better every year too! I used to get a lot of my kids school supplies from DT, except for their mead notebooks and binders! Those they insisted we get from Target or Staples! ) :
I do love DT'S organizing baskets and other assorted organizing pieces! ( : They are a little more lightweight and possibly a bit smaller than regular stores, but for only $1 each piece, you cannot go wrong! I use them in my pantry, for my craft/wedding flower business, and to organize bath items (towels, bath supplies, etc). ( :
The teachers section is amazing too and honestly teachers have to pay for all these items themselves. They do get some money back when they do their taxes the next year, so the more money they can save the better! ( :
Great ideas for how to use DT organizational items in ways that are unique to what they were intended to be used for! I love all the ideas you are sharing! Soooo helpful and helps your viewers, like me, think outside the box! ( : I would never have put a dishwashing drying rack in my bathroom cabinet under my sink. That was sooo genius! ( :
I loved seeing you get excited over all the great items at DT! I go in there and I feel/act like a kid in a candy shop! Lol! ( : I run from aisle to aisle and try to find all the items I have been shown by all my TH-camrs I follow! Then, I think...what am I doing?! Lol! I end up putting some things back, because I pretty much have a small DT store in my life already and want to buy all the items I have been shown!! Lol! I’m a 2020 hs graduate from Michigan, but when I was in our small urban elementary school, some of the students brought their own lunches but lots of people bought school lunch too. Same had happened in middle school, but more people started to buy the school lunch. Honestly, I think it depends on the student’s and or household preference. I was very involved with a lot of clubs at my high school, so I always brought my own lunch because I had so many meetings for clubs. Also, the lunch line was always ridiculously long during the entire lunch period, so I would miss my meetings or be late and sometimes ate lunch during my next class. Now that attend a private college, I eat the food at our dining place on campus. I tend to take extra snacks and water with me though because I get hungry throughout the day. Also, your lashes look so beautiful. Do have extensions? What’s your beauty routine? Great video, Katie 😊

We were allowed to leave for lunch. It was a small town and it gave the restaurants in town a lot of business
Our highschool had Subway, Black Jack Pizza, and Chik Fil A. Our middle school had the same except we had Arby’s instead of Chik-Fil-a. Crazy to think about the food we had growing up. So yummy but not the most nutritious lol.
I have a dollar tree really really close To my house, We are in there at least 3 times a month. They always have good Merch, also mine sells frozen foods Great breakfast meals or lunches. When I was in School back in the 80's we had lunch that was given in the school no one brought lunch from home we had to pay Dues and we would get tickets to buy lunch if you did not have a ticket you did not get lunch. till next time

I had no idea the dollar store had this much school supplies 😱 When I was in high school, most people bought their lunch from the cafeteria. But I live in a small town and most kids were also on free or reduced lunch.
There are so many people on TH-cam that do dollar tree,so I love when you do more home decor you are the best at it so knowledgeable please do more of that you seem more excited about that please !!!!
In my area (Lake County, FL) I have 2 Big Lots and several Dollar Trees very close. Our kids go back to school August 10th so it’s good to know where to get good school supplies; plus we have our sales tax holiday on those items that started today. So a timely video. 👍 I was in HS in the 70’s so cafeteria food was pretty decent but I’d say it was 50-50 with bringing lunch or buying. Lisa Frank was super popular when my girls were in school from 1995 (#1 started kindergarten) to 2010 (#2 graduated hs). So lots of that in my house.
Katie, here in Central Florida we have a wonderful resource for teachers called A Gift For Teaching. It’s runs on donations of money, actual supplies and volunteers. It’s a very organized operation and teachers in Orange and Osceola Counties shop for free.

The expo markers aren’t for the teachers lol, they’re for the kids to use on their own personal white boards for working out math probs and things like that! ❤️❤️
Yes another teacher told me! News to me for sure, thanks for letting me know!
Fyi: That comment about expo markers being on a school supply list and how it's crazy parents have to buy the teacher supplies... They're not for the teacher. Students use them in the classroom. Side note: You'd be shocked at how much teachers spend when THEY have to buy their students the supplies because the parents don't do it.

Totally understandable, its just a new concept to me! Growing up we got tissues and stuff but that was it! I dont doubt how much it costs to stock a classroom, I have helped buy items off of several teachers wishlists off amazon. It wasnt meant to be rude, i'm sorry if thats how it came off! Growing up we had chalkboards in most schools and if there was expo markers we definitely weren't allowed to touch them. Sorry about that crystal, thanks for watching!
@@KatieVining Because teacher evaluations and expectations are so demanding these days, we have to come up with countless ways to fully engage and differentiate instruction. One way to do that is by using white boards. So... Typically, the teacher will purchase enough small whiteboards for each student to use. It is the teacher's hope, that each student will bring their own maker. More often than not, the teacher ends up supplying the markers, whiteboards, and erasers for each child. Add that $ up. 😬
Thats crazy! Sounds super fun I would have loved that as a kids but it is super unfair for the burden to fall on you! You are clearly an amazing teacher and I definitely learned something new today!
