    Cards, gift wrap, fabric...there are so many ways to get more value from and make the most of your sketches. I have sewn many things from my sketches, but one of my favourites has been fabric. Not only have I designed the lining of my SketchPockets with my own designs but I even parade around the place wearing my designs as skirts and other apparel! I even force my children to wear my designs too...not that they always acquiesce!
    I wish I could talk you through the process for turning your designs into a .png that you can play with, but it's above my pay grade: if you;re hoping to get computer advice from me, things have come to a pretty pass indeed. But you can learn the same way I did, through watching online tutorials.
    What I can share with you however, is how to turn your sketches into monochrome images that will look super on a piece of cloth, starting with sketches you have already done. What you do with it is up to you!
    Simplify - but not too much - and express yourself. I hope this video is helpful for you on your creative journey, or at the very least gives you ideas.
    One more thing - if you've read this far then you are not one of the transgressors - but I get lots of comments asking me about my brands...from people who haven't watched the whole videos. So please watch the whole thing before you ask me what brands I use. I always, or nearly always, mention them!
    And...have fun!
    See you next time,
    Róisín X

    What a fun idea! I loved seeing how to use the ink as paint to make a monochrome. I’m very into black and white with my photographers now for some reason, but the crab looks fabulous in the Frieda ink.

      @@janed.9907 funny I was just thinking, it would be great to use a b&w filter for sketches or photos, then make tonal sketches from them ❤️

      @@lorrainemanning3809 you should, I know almost nothing about graphic design but it’s not hard. And you can teach yourself everything you need to know about manipulating your sketch by googling it.

    Really great idea of using sketches. The lovely Reuben sketches are so cute among the pattern. You could have changed the colors of your crabs sketches in the computer, as a graphic designer and sketcher, I sometimes do that. Is there any reason why you chose to redo them?

  • @amitap2025
    @amitap2025 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    lovely!. Do you draw them larger and then scale them down to fit - for example, the illustrations on your daughter's card?

    • @roisincure
      @roisincure  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@amitap2025 I draw around the size you see in the card, usually, and then once you have the scan the fabric website allows your to make it bigger or smaller. They have a ruler beside the design so you can see what size it’ll be. It’s very easy but I often get it wrong just by not measuring properly.
