Can you name the half-remembered, formative film from our listener's past? Mark has completely checked out of this feature and decided he will no longer engage, but it remains The Nation's Favourite.

if this is the late 70s I think what might have happened here is the listener watched The Fall and Rise and of Reginald Perrin and then Billy Wilder's Irma La Douce possibly in the same evening and got them mixed up in his memory...

Apparently "Irma la Douce" has a scene where the fake alter ego is "drowned" in the Seine. That may be it. There was also a filmed French version in 1972. He might have seen that version if it was dubbed.

I know he's probably doing a bit, but even if so, it's wearing thin. If not, he really needs to get over himself. I hope they continue to run the feature on the podcast, even if laughing boy needs to recuse himself. It's a great section and it's not a vehicle for Mark to show off his encyclopaedic film knowledge.
