@cushyglen4264 Don't be silly. Ireland is renowned for its rainfall and grey skies. No one is spraying the skies. I suggest you update your conspiracy fantasies.

@cushyglen4264 No, we didn't have long white trails stretching for miles from planes that aren't commercial flights. Another conspiracy fantasy. Do you believe the earth is flat as well?

@cushyglen4264 If I am so predictable you will be able to tell me what I am about to say. I shall await your stunning prediction. In the meantime get some psychiatric help. I don't feel comfortable making fun of those who are psychologically damaged.

Hi Alvaro - you should definitely try the Lough Derg pilgrimage while you're in Ireland. Lough Derg is called St. Patrick's Purgatory (Purgatorium Sancti Patricii) and is one of the oldest and most unique places of pilgrimage in Europe, going back more than 1500 years. The 3 day pilgrimage is open until August 15th. There are beehive huts there too!

I second this. It was said that Jesus showed St Patrick Purgatory there and a monastery was built on the site. Many people still go each year for fasting and penance. There’s a one day pilgrimage worth taking, especially given your great devotion to the Holy Souls 🙏

Turn around and go down the steps like a toddler! 😂 I went up some steps like that with my family on a cliff in England once. I'm still thanking our guardian angels for keeping us safe. Had I known to also ask the poor Holy souls at that time, i would have.

Sadly the Irish have once again become pagan! This is the tragedy of forgetting our history and our persecution!
But eventually people will be faced with a stark choice and hopefully the seeds that are now dormant will be reborn and flourish🙏
    St. Patrick our patron Saint resurrected at least 39 people from the dead on his mission to convert our pagan nation and this is a video I did reading from a great book about 400 resurrection miracles;
    th-cam.com/video/5U_L16_mQpw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=W_sngpitvNmSPqey

I visited Skellig Michael 11 years ago with my oldest son. One of the most amazing places I’ve ever visited. That book you mentioned is not boring. Visiting Skellig Michael is inspiring and shows the profound valor of the monks who preserved Christianity and spread the Gospel to the world.

Grandad always called Granny 'my wee puffin' because she was little and cute, and snuck up when you'd least expect it. They'd been to Skellig Michael once and Loch Derg every year together when health permitted. I can't see Skellig Michael and not smile thinking about Granny and Granda.

As an Irish person I do not believe Star Wars should ever have been allowed on that very special island..its hard to believe the powers that be said yes. The crew apparently did no damage but regardless should not have been allowed. Lot of people now visit because of the film not because that island is one of the world's and our country's very special ancient and spiritual places. I visited and loved it not because I am very religious but because it very very special and historical island.

He read a title and a preface. The Irish monks didn’t save the Bible. They saved Roman and Greek literature while mainland Europe was in flux. While the monks were religious, it wasn’t religion that was saved, it was secular western texts that they preserved. And not on Skellig but in other monasteries on the main island of Eire.

    Barbarians running about
    I don't think so
The ancient Brehon laws where some of the most sophisticated thinking the world has ever known anyone would be amazed to learn more about them at Patrick was a tyrant and came to Ireland with the threath of Rome and the Romans the serpent was the druids symbol and the the symbol to this day of healing you see it wrapped around a sword .
The significance of him chasing snakes out of Ireland was him replacing g the old religion with the new .
The ancient Brehon laws had divorce and even protected the unborn child a woman was carrying .

The Irish are not credited with saving western civilisation based solely upon their preservation of the catholic faith. It is because they saved the classical treatises of Greece (the writings of Plato, Archimedes, Aristotle etc) and Rome (Tacitus, Cicero etc.) and knowledge of the classical forms in art from being lost during the Dark Ages and then they subsequently travelled all over of Europe as teachers and preachers centuries later, bringing back and spreading the learning and ultimately facilitating the rebirth of western civilisation via the Renaissance etc.

"Sacrifices". What "sacrifices"?! Its pretty clear you did not read the "boring" book, Ireland was peaceful when the rest of Europe and England, Wales Scotland were at war among themselves because no one wanted it, the Goths left it alone, THATS THE POINT OF THE BOOK. They kept the BIBLE intact when it was being, literally, destroyed everywhere else.

I am sorry to say that the Irish have lost the faith, you only see a Irish person in Church for Births, first communion, confirmation, weddings and death, there are very few who go regularly to mass on a weekly basis now.

Skellig Michael is indeed a beautiful place, but your commentary about the monks "saving civilisation" is pure nonsense. Civilisation does not need religion of any kind, because religion causes division, and hatred, and has lead to the deaths of millions of people.
