This song makes me feel the sadness of it all. Pain, loss, failure, disappointment… It also gives me the desire to keep going , to keep moving forward. It gives me hope that everything is going to be alright. I can feel it in my soul.
The replacement of the 2nd cello with a bass, and the fact that the key signature is different from the original gives the piece a darker quality to it, which I really like. And I love how well the clarinet and trombone blend with the ensemble. And the space it was played it really made everything nice and resonant. Fantastic work on the arrangement and performance!
Hi @@edwardcross , we wanted to perform the piece Nature of Daylight and wondered if you could provide us your arrangement! That would be very helpful, thank you
Up to 1:56 the eyes are damp. Then... the tears leak. How does one set about to write something so sad, so mournful, full of the ache of loss and grief and yet... hope.
Listening to this has been the most profound experience with music I've ever had. I first discovered this unnatural piece in Shutter Island, and sure, every time I listen to the original studio version, it gives me goosebumps. But listening to this live version literally made me cry with emotion since the violin came in until the song ended. There are lots of songs that make me emotional and weepy, I had simply never cried my eyes out listening to a song. So thank you all for that.
I wonder if this music, which makes me feel like it's playing through me, is ever experienced in similar ways by the composers and arrangers. If it doesn't then they're missing out on so much. I'm so glad there are people like them in this world.
This piece gives me the most intense feeling of calm. And a glimpse into the oblivion of death that holds no fear. Like watching the sky in the West at sunset. I have cancer. When I hear this, I don't care.
Lovely to see this pop up in my recommendations - was not disappointed. Beautiful arrangement and performance. Wasn't expecting this combination of instruments to work quite so well, but it does. I work in Bath and wish I had seen this live - should really pay closer attention to what's going on in the city!
I’ve been listening to dozens of strings only versions of the song. Because I would like to perform this with 6 to 8 cellos. But it’s the clarinet and trombone who bring this to another level.
I don’t know if I’m correct or it makes sense, but I feel this piece is desperately telling a story about the nature of reality and the passing of time . Reality is very much dependent and paradoxically independent of time. our reality stays with us timelessly but it moves away from us quickly with or without you. It keeps moving even if you are not ready to move on to the next day. We attempt to keep a hold or grip on reality in a moment in time but we don’t have full control of it. That is why it’s called the nature of daylight. Light moves fast and so our reality.
Wow this was a stunning arrangement, I was very curious as to how the woodwinds were going to work their way in and was very pleasantly surprised. Would love to hear this properly mixed but I'll just have to settle for this lovely recording :)
Really good production. Who is the 2nd violinist (next to bas), she looks very nice I would like to chat with her. The production is very emotional, intonations are very good. The clarinet+copper is little bit strange, as far i remember in the sheet it was assembled for Chello and violin originally 2-3 violin and 2 chello as far I remember. There are moments where I noticed some question answer (concierto) between the tube and clarinet :D I was little bit dissapointed about lastofus hashtag , this is for me the arrival final scene...
As a lot of my compositions utilise clarinet and trombone, I figured it’d be nice to arrange the piece with the same idea! And the last of us # was for clickbait more than anything ahaha. I just knew the piece from Max Richter!

What a brutal challenge to play. Leaves no room for slips or mistakes.

Хоча ти і сруський... але лайк тобі.
I’m very sorry that your ears are so lazy that you actually like this rubbish.

When the woodswind started playing it was astonishing. Great work, my deepest congratulations to everybody!
Thanks so much!! ❤

🥰🥰🥰
Love this version
Beautiful on so many levels !
🥰🥰
Absolutely lovely. I bet Richter would be thrilled.
But what about the algorithm that writes this repetitive stuff? Is it, too, "thrilled"?
He's too busy counting his dosh.
Ништяк! Ещё раз..
I think this is beautiful, emotionally on a different level. I thank you so much for putting this out here ❤
This arrangement is so good, maybe more profound than the original
That’s too kind!

Thank you so much!! I actually might be doing another performance in May, so I'll drop a comment when we're back!

And written by an algorithm. Still.

He was right it's my one family
Denis Villeneuve - Arrival main theme, you can now change hashtags.
Written by max richter. Called on the nature of daylight.
This is not by Max Richter, this music is written by Johan Johanssen for 'Arrival'
Not true actually. It’s max richters piece that was used in Arrival.
@@edwardcross Yes you are right... When I saw 'Arrival' I have always assumed it was from Johansson... my mistake. Sorry Hans!
I mean : sorry MAX! (not my day today)

Thanks guys very good shame about the background noise.
I still like the original better because of how simple it is.
Me too
"The Nature of Daylight"! Are we supposed to take this person, this music seriously? God help us if the answer is affirmative.
*on the nature of daylight
Have you ever thought Perhaps you are an eeegit??..lol
honestly...your input just makes it worse...sorry
Thanks!! 🙏
For a TH-cam video it sounds terrible... fading it and out and too much static...mic settings are to sensitive 😮
The audio isn't great, but it wasn't really meant to be top quality.. Just wanted to record my gig! :)
Ah yes the inevitable debbie downer of the comments section!
