  • I am BACK out in the Montana Garage and slowly making progress on the '55 Chevy build. In this video, we build some brake lines and make some excuses for not getting more done lately. Check it out!
    The featured product in this video is once again the awesome Benchmark Abrasives grinder shield (Thanks to those who have already purchased it!). It's an affordable, well built, and highly effective shield so you can keep your eyes and face safe from sparks and other flying debris while doing your thing out in the shop. You know the rule, Safety First!, so you better click the link and get yourself, or someone you would rather not see with a death wheel lodged in their face one! Don't forget, any other shopping done after clicking the link also supports Montana Garage. Please let me know if you make a purchase, and I'll send you FREE Montana Garage stickers as a thankyou! (commissions earned, Thanks!) amzn.to/3yYmoRW
    Plus, we now have a new Amazon store front. Links to the grinder hood, the rechargeable work light I often use, and other recommended shop tools can be found there. More will be added to the storefront soon. Check it out here! www.amazon.com/shop/montanaga....
    Also, it's not too late to get the children's book starring Moose and written by my wife and daughter. It's a great gift for all those kids in your life. What kid doesn't like a book about farm animals? Please follow the link below to get your copy, or do any other shopping on Amazon and Montana Garage will receive a small commission. Thanks for your support. amzn.to/3oeecHX
    Please let me know if you purchase a book and I will send you FREE Montana Garage AND Friends on the Farm stickers! It's obviously a win-win situation for you.

    Glad to hear that you are feeling better. Anything to do with the heart is always scary. I really like your fancy flaring tool. Sure beats the pos I had to borrow from autozone. Had to go to 4 different autozones, just to find 1 that wasn't broken. And after using the 1 I got, I could see why the other ones were broken. Just not heavy duty enough to make the flare. Thanks for the video, and take care of yourself

    • @MontanaGarage
      @MontanaGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks David. It is a cool tool. The price was a bit hard to swallow, but I will have other projects that need lines so I figured it'd be worth it in the long run. So far I am super happy with it.

    Sorry to hear about your health woes. I hope the insurance come through soon. I remember a year ago last summer bugging you to insulate the garage before winter. But you stayed cold last winter instead, and are going to do it again! Next spring /summer get your son and his buddies over to give you a hand. You could probably get it done in a weekend. Have a Merry Christmas.

    • @MontanaGarage
      @MontanaGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Man I sure wish I woulda listened. The insulating itself probably won't be a big deal, it's the moving of everything I don't look forward to. Hopefully I'll be smarter by next winter. (probably not though...) Merry Christmas to you as well Jim, and thanks for watching.

    Glad to hear you're OK my friend. I too know about working in the cold. Been trying to get back to furniture building and doing so in the cold is tough. Do a glue up and have to take it in the house where it's warm to dry. There are 7 of us in a smaller bungalow so space is at a premium. Gotta figure out where I'm gonna stain/finish the pieces, or do I just build a lot and finish it in the spring when it warms up again. But everybody is healthy and OK. So it's a small issue in the grand scheme of things. The furniture stuff is extra income so likely it 's gonna just have to wait.
    The brake lines are looking great. I've forgotten to put the fitting on first more then I care to remember. Look forward to more from ya. Be safe and stay well.

    The copper lines look really cool. If your running your inner fenders, the left front brake line is in the way. The inner fenders run alongside of the chassis.

    • @MontanaGarage
      @MontanaGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Robert, I was actually afraid of that and debated digging out the inner fenders for a test fit. Obviously I ended up not doing that, but figured if any lines are in the way it won't be that hard to make a change. I tend to work harder, not smarter for some reason... Your '55 is looking killer man. I have a few vids to catch up on but looks like you've almost got it done. Congrats!

    • @MontanaGarage
      @MontanaGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, it should work pretty smooth that way. May have to make a new bracket off the frame where the line switches to flexible line, or nay be able to use a body mount bracket for that. I was going to do it the other day, but laying on the concrete was a bit cold so I chickened out and did something else. Thanks for watching!

    Good to see you back. My dad ended up with the de-fib as well. It made his life heaps better as he had years of heart trouble. Sorry to hear about your possible cost after the flight. Our health system here in Australia may not be as good as it should but I know its a lot better than the states. When I made my brake lines i was going to buy a tube straightening tool but it was too much. I looked on google and made one with 5 small wheels and a board. Its been working great. I used insulated P clips on my brake lines and they worked well as I just used self drilling screws. Wife asked how moose is going as well?

    • @MontanaGarage

    Man, Brad... I'm glad you are doing better.
    "Life" is what happens between crisis. When you get through one crisis make sure you take the time to enjoy life before the bext crisis comes along. And it will come. It may take a while. It may not.
    I don't have an "onboard" defib machine like you but I do have a nasty A-fib issue and a bad valve. When I go "out of time" I run like a V8 on 3 cylinders so while I don't know exactly how you felt I have a bit of an idea.
    HOW MUCH for that flight??? Holy Mother of Pearl! I hope the insurance covers it.
    With my health, I'll stay in the country I'm in. I'd be left for dead in your country, since I'm broke.
    Oh... this Spring I will be like many others and start hounding you to get that garage insulated. ;)

Yeah all this medical stuff is crazy expensive, but I'm sure glad the doc were around to fix me up. My engine is a 327. A far as I know, that is a stock balancer. I haven't heard that about a smaller balancer. I have heard using a lighter flywheel can help the engine wind up faster, so it makes sense that a smaller balancer would do the same, I just haven't tried either. Thansk for watching!

    Brad where did you get that "T" junction box you are pointing at discussing the different types of fittings that screw in to it?

      Thanks for watching Check. Sorry I didn't get to this sooner. That junction block is from Summit Racing, Part Number: EAR-972050ERL. Hope that helps.

    17:52 I looks like the bolt for the damper is not there.

    • @MontanaGarage
      @MontanaGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching and trying to help. This is an older small block, and the damper is just press fit. The crank isn't tapped for a bolt.
