In Spain there is a saying "nunca es tarde si la dicha es buena" and this reaction has taken a while, but it finally arrived ;) thank you very much and I admire that you are able to wait months without listening to some of the songs that you will have in that list to keep the right order, my respects for that ;)
Listening to what both you and other reactors talk about Akane and her quality as a drummer, I was annoyed that a French reactor, when watching "Onset", referred to the drums as "clumsy" (at least that's what the TH-cam translator put), also his disdainful attitude towards BAND-MAID in general and that about the video of "Warning" he said it's a linear song based on speed only.
I admit that not everybody likes the same music and not everybody likes it in the same way, but I like your reactions because (in the ones I have seen) you have always respected the artist and his performance, even if you didn't like the song, you have valued and highlighted the most relevant aspects and also criticized those that could have been better, but always with respect, in a constructive way and arguing your words, thank you very much for that ;)

Nice reaction bro! One thing about Band-Maid is their layers! They will add certain scores into their compositions that don’t need to be there but it makes sense on how they incorporate it! Kanami is a musical genius when it come to writing!

Another excellent reaction. Yep, I'm seeing it in the comments. We've mentioned it before. But you do so many bands, I know it's hard to remember the discussions from one band to the next. You're absolutely right. There's so much that goes into tracking vocals: choosing the right mic for that vocalist, getting the levels just right, mic placement in the room so the vocal sounds natural but not too "dead". So it is common practice to just knock out all the vocals in one shot with the same vocalist. It makes sense. If you bring in another vocalist, you've got to through that whole process again. But in the case of Band Maid, the blend of Saiki's and Miku's voices are a "thing". It's part of their signature sound. If you listen closely, Miku's (rhythm guitar) voice has a softer, more airy quality than Saiki's laser focused power, and they use that. Again, great reaction. I'm sure it's on your list, but I'd recommend another all female Japanese band (ala Band Maid, Lovebites), Nemophila. My personal favorite is their song, "Oiran". But like the aforementioned bands, all their songs are great. Looking forward to the next one!
As others have mention....check out the recent No God Live for bass. The thing I like about this band is the instrumentalists make serving the song the priority versus showing off for the sake of showing off.

Good assessment of each component. You're spot on re Akane. She's the highlight here. An exceptional female drummer. Fast and even frenetic at times. Akane doesnt have to use the super fills here but the extending 16 fill and great quick fill near the end are so good. She's a very innovative drummer (but so are Misa,Kanami and Miku in their creativity). Yes Saiki on lead vocal and Miku on backing vocals are great too. Re song length,yes 3.30 to 4 minutes odd is around the mark. One reason Kanami doesn't have longer solos. It works in live shows (to have the longer solo) but for a compact hit for commerciality,it's on the money. The Maids really do pack a lot into a song and it's that ingenuity that makes them a great band that deserves greater recognition. They're not mainstream (yet) but once they can start playing live again to a greater audience,they'll give it a major shot. If there's 5 women that deserve mega success,it's these 5 wonderful humble talented ladies. Put on a great show and most who see their clips here,wouldnt hesitate to see them in concert. Band Maid is quite an uniquely creative band and bands of this calibre don't come around that often.

We've got "November Rain" rolling in at about 8 minutes long! It's a pretty painless 8 minutes. At 2 minutes, 21 seconds, Blondie's "Hanging on the Telephone" may be one of the best of the shortest hits...ahh, those were the days...recheck some prog rock done right: Todd Rundgren's Utopia, "Hiroshima"...you'll wanna bump up the volume around the 5 minute mark...to get the most of that analog juiciness...th-cam.com/video/9SmkTjw_2Yg/w-d-xo.html
one great thing about Band-Maid is song to song it could be any 1 or any combination of the 5 standing out. they like sharing the spot light...now you have herd this i hope you will go check out the live version even in your free time and see how it sounds live

Thanks David. Nice honest reaction. Akane (drums) obviously killed. Vocals also helped take it to the next level. To hear better guitar/bass separation listen to the "live" online version released a few weeks back. Peace.

There are other songs on Unseen World that "poke at the edge of chaos" and it would be cool to get your take on them: H-G-K, Giovanni, and Black Hole. Band-Maid has perfected the art of dancing on the edge of the cliff, almost like a tense thriller movie or something.

You can enjoy this song played live on their official YT channel, bass is a little prominent. It worths. For your own delight.
The rhythm guitarist did the backing vocals. Her capacity to blend with the lead is legendary.
Saiki has said both she and Miku did the backing vocals on this album (thanks to t-shinji on reddit for his translation of the interview).
@@noahtomato3515 Miku did them when Saiki provided lead and Saiki did them for Miku's song on UW. Regardless, we were referring to this song though and Miku did the backing vocals on it.
@@technopsychobedlam Saiki: Only Kobato used to sing backing vocals, but in this album, I also sing them. We changed our way so that the vocals sound more three-dimensional, considering the balance between my voice and Kobato’s voice. We had a lot of time for production and we were able to take enough time for each song, so we communicated precisely, like “I want to change the backing vocals of this part”, and that made a big difference. Up until then, we were like “The next song is this”, “Thanks for the lyrics”, “I’ll sing like this. I’ll go with these backing vocals, OK?” (laughter) This time we refined vocal harmony work well, and even though we didn’t have much time at the recording, we recorded a lot of vocals, so it was nice we were able to add and subtract a lot of them.
@@noahtomato3515 In the online concert you can hear Saiki joining in on the backing vocals on Manners and it sounds quite different. We agree they both did backing vocals on UW, but it sounds clear that the backing on the Manners MV is Miku.

Agree with everything you said. I wished the bass were a tad higher in the mix. Another interesting review. The urgency of the drumming did drive this song. Throughout their catalog it's apparent that the sense of rhythm seems to come very naturally to the drummer, Akane Hirose.
Brother, try band maid track "day dreaming".. available in their official youtube channel. It is different from any of their track, it's a ballad & also check out miku the band leader april fool track "cluppo peace & love".

Where as $5 a month is very reasonable, the issue I and maybe others is that we regularly follow twenty plus reaction channels. I am moving house soon, so lets see what I can do once settled into my new place. My favorite yoga song (not). A serious firecracker of a tune. These ladies never disappoint.
Not every song can have face melting guitars or ground breaking bass solos …. A stand up so g for sure one of my favs but not one of their best.
It took me a few listens to really get into this one by them. Bordering on frantic would be a good way to describe this tune. 👍
They are a great band, like Lovebites. Maybe you can try Nemophila - Dissension (th-cam.com/video/26aMuahxz8c/w-d-xo.html), also a nice Japanes metal femaleband.
It's actually already in the pipeline for filming and editing....should be coming out soon.

You're still on this? We told you last time that the backing vocals are actually done by Miku, the backing vocalist, to the point where the lead guitarist has to record her guitar part because she's recording her vocals. She has learned to play her guitar well (after starting from scratch AFTER the band was formed...huge respect for that) but she was primarily a vocalist and she does have the ability to perfectly blend with (not mimic) Saiki, the lead vocalist.
Once you've seen enough recordings of live performances (or as we're all hoping for soon, actual live performances) you'll understand. Heck, there's one song where they swapped leads for an outro only to take advantage of her greater range and some longtime fans still miss it.
Saiki did backing vox too this time.
Dude! I know I'm late to the party as I've just started seeing your reaction videos...but geez...Akane's drumming alone is a 9.5! Less than a 9 and I'm thinking you need to listen to the song without pauses before making your score. When you pause you break up the flow of the song and you paused multiple times. Maybe that's a suggestion you start incorporating...after your first listen, go back and listen again without stopping before doing the overall review. So far I've thought you've been pretty fair but less than a 9 on this and I'm thinking you missed something in the pauses.
I can never predict your scores! This is a 7.9 for me... & yes, on this album, the lead singer does *some* of the backing vocals but not all. Apparently this is approach to BV is new for Band-Maid.
