    The thing that I've noticed is a lot of South Asian people in the US don't actually know their history. The first South Asians to come to the US were labourers from Punjab and Bengal in the 1800s. People in the US act like everyone who came was a software engineer or doctor. I'm Canadian and I always have to explain to my American cousins that Indian people don't have that same reputation of being doctors and stuff in Canada as in the US. LoL

If you ask Indian Americans if they heard of Dalip Singh Saund, probably 1% would have heard his name. Most of them here try to ape Americans and drink Kool-Aid. I feel pity for Indians here that they lack pride in their culture and religion and unable to stand up or see what is in their interest or who is on their side. Right now, Pakistan lovers are running the show among Dems. They fail to see it. Bangladesh recently reversed to become East Pakistan. How many Hindu and Sikh lives were lost in 1947? As an Independent swing voter, I can tell you it will get worse for them if Dems win.

    To the non-indian americans in the comments confused about where "Indians" stand on Kamala - first of all, we are not a monolith or a brown blob of unthinking racists and casteists who all think the same, you wouldnt want people putting words in your mouth, so dont do that to us. India itself is more diverse than the United States, with more languages and cultures etc, the "Indian identity" americans know is just privileged caste north indian culture. There are vile racists who are Indian and anti-black, and there are Indians who receive casteist oppression from other Indians and many who identify with the history of systemic discrimination faced by black americans as slavery was not unique to the US, we also had it in India where privileged castes enslaved marginalized castes. By stripping us all of individuality and nuance you dehumanize us. Kamala is South Indian, many south Indians, including me, claim her to be both South Indian and Black, and we also notice how Kamala's indianess is dialed down by other Americans in many conversations because of the accepted hatred towards Indians online and in the media.

It's not like North upper caste South lower caste. North has more lower castes than south India and they are still oppressed. Tamilnadu with all their progressive governments still couldn't end caste system, it's still very much prevalent and I have been to Tamilnadu and as relative of mine married a Tamil tribal girl and their village is still in the dumbs, they can't get their MLA's to give them toilets and water system, they had to travel few kilometres to another village to get those resources. I grew up with some vile racist Indians in Kenya. Straight after high school, I worked part time for an Indianl nursery school where the black teachers weren't even allowed to step foot into the staff room . We literally took our breaks standing outside watching the kids play and ate our lunch standing, while the "real teachers"(Indian) ate and relaxed in the plush room that i never ever saw in the 2 months i forced myself to work there. The only Indian that socialized with us was Goan- and basically was one roti above the Africans. Lucky for me I only took the job to keep busy while waiting to go to Uni. There were African Staff who'd worked under these conditions for over 10 years with no other options 😢.
      That being said, over the years I have met a diversity of Indians and I am much more aware of how diverse the diaspora is. And this is not unique to Indians but given how huge the Indian population is, it's more visible now worldwide.

As long as the government isn't wasting my tax dollars (too much) or suction-corruption it, I'm fine, spend my money to improve the lives of all Americans. All that benefit will come to me eventually, one way or another, whether that is a safer, more stable, educated and wealthier society, etc.

      In that case it doesn`t even make sense, because Trump has cut taxes for the 1%, not for middle class people and promised to cut taxes for the 1% again. Your dad is not even profitting from Trumps tax cuts. He just hears the rhetoric of "we wanna cut taxes" and doesn`t ask: For whom?
      Also I wonder where these rich people wanna drive their Porsche`s if we don`t have tax dollars to fix the potholes in roads.

    I love the example for survivor bias. It is a really great story. Bias recognition should be a mandatory subject in school. In the intel analysis career field there training in critical thinking and structured analysis that includes such things because incorrect biases can mean someone dies unnecessarily. Same can be said about policing in the US. And I hear and understand the comments about military budget, but I’ll say the world of industry, politics, and national security is more complicated than a dollar amount. The defense industry has been stripped down by their CEOs to be as efficient as possible to maximize profits. This leaves threadbare production, fewer jobs, and just enough research to keep things viable with other companies trying to do the same. Neither party will address that. But one will at least be decent for the economy, according to economists, and won’t stoke xenophobic fears.

It is a WhiteNationalist agenda . “ Tim “ & family embraced MAGA. We were shocked . They are single issue voters ! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ -Taxes ! STRUCTURAL RACISM
    The other day I worked for an Indian couple who told me they are not interested in Kamala because she will raise their taxes. However, they did not explain how a change from the current administration from Biden to Kamala would increase their taxes.
    Why would this couple deprive the pride of over a billion people over taxes?
    Is it greed or something else?
    The other question I asked this Indian couple was would you risk our democracy over taxes?
    They did not really answer the question directly but said they don't believe our democracy is at risk and that Kamala is for "justice and equality", as if that is a bad thing.
    Let's assume our democracy is not at risk, why do this Indian couple think justice and equality is so bad.
    Logic leads you to conclude that they are racist, and believe they would be better off than others whether or not they lived in a democracy. They believe they are a higher class of society, and therefore they should not have to pay an equal poportional rate of tax to society. However, they will not come out and say it because they know it is unpopular.
    "A proportional tax is sometimes referred to as a flat tax. It is an income tax system that levies the same percentage tax to everyone regardless of income. A proportional tax is the same for low, middle, and high-income taxpayers."
    So, for the independant voter, if you think this political shit show by republicans is about money, you are completely wrong!

    To answer what I did with our neighbor's dog shit:
    I, and my son, lived with both of my brothers. My son was running up the hill in front of our house and slipped in the shit of our neighbor's dog. I had several conversations with the man about making sure not to leave ANY of his dog's shit in our yard because it's gross and unneighborly. So, what I did was something he'll never forget. One day, after my son slipped in his dog's shit, I walked my son to school, then, before I had to go to work, I grabbed an empty pita bread bag and walked through both of our yards (front and back) and collected all of the turds his dog left in our yard that he didn't clean up. I took the bag and set it on his doorstep before I headed to work. Later, I get home to my older brother asking what the fuck was I thinking. I ask him why he's so pissed and what he was talking about. He then told me that our neighbor came over and asked who set the pita bag full of shit in front of his door, he just tracked shit all through his living room before he realized he had shit on his shoes, that whoever did it was really passive-aggressive and blah, blah, blah. I simply said to my brother, "Well, it's good to hear he got the message." To which my brother agreed WITH NEIGHBOR that it was really passive-aggressive of me to do that. To which I countered, "It would have been IF, AND ONLY IF, I hadn't had the same conversation with him three or four times before." What do you say about what I did?

I told him if happens again, it'll be a fucking horse's head! My brother heard, busted out laughing and didn't understand it was a Godfather reference 🤣. This conversation is so meaningful coming from you guys who are in the culture, and I really appreciate the serious subject interspersed with humor. With respect to the divided support forVP Harris, back, there is definitely selective racism invovled, as when she was still Senator, and was running, I got into a heated comment fight with an Indian woman who said some rather disgusting stuff about her. Essentially, the woman was a racist, but selectively so. She denigrated the black side of Harris, saying how she isn't really Indian, and is only Indian when convenient, and pretty much said that she was a mongrel. But, at the same time, this woman was bragging about her own kids being half Indian, half white, and she was hella proud of it. I reacted as badly as I did and got a bit mean and petty on the comments because of my own experience, several years back.
    The thing about immigrants and survivor bias is so dead on. For my culture, it was the Cultural Revolution, and the stories I heard were directly from my parents and grandparents and their close relatives. I grew up on those stories, as I'm a bit older. But I also heard stories from friends and their relatives who dealt with the Indian Partition. It was horrifying, on par with the stuff I heard about my family dealing with having to leave China. Not all my friends who left were rich or highly educated, so they really had to work hard here to have a comfortable life. And they all put up with crap, and tried to be invisible to keep the peace, and just survive.

    While I do like the idea of affirmative action being based on class and not be based on race, until more people stop being racist I think affirmative action needs to have race in it. But I do really think the true difference in people is their economic class, the haves vs the have nots and those who have (imo) way too much.

    • @ThatPokemonFan-uq7oz
      @ThatPokemonFan-uq7oz หลายเดือนก่อน

      Merit should be thing that matters the most. And there is nothing more racist than race based quotas. Economic based quotas are good because they will help those who need it regardless of color. Other than that, people aren't really that racist anymore. People have equal rights, and things have come a long way. Race is no longer a barrier to getting ahead in life. Money is. Some ethnic groups are poorer, but it's still a money problem.

    • @thejinn99
      @thejinn99 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@ThatPokemonFan-uq7oz I agree about merit, but I don't think affirmative action is racist. Racism also definitely exists and is something I've experienced intimately throughout my life.
      The question of whether race is a barrier to getting ahead of life is up for debate, But I would agree with the statement that it is becoming less relevant and that socioeconomics and class have more to do with one's future success in life.
      The last time I checked, the biggest predictor to future wealth is how much past wealth one self or one's family has access to.

    • @ThatPokemonFan-uq7oz
      @ThatPokemonFan-uq7oz หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@thejinn99 Racism exists for sure, but is that really what's stopping you from getting ahead in life? From a legal perspective, the answer is no. And think about how Asians are negatively affected by affirmative action. If we agree that socioeconomics and class are more important factors, why should colleges have racial quotas than? Because then a rich or middle class black person has a higher chance of getting in than a poor white or Asian. And in general the merit of someone's work is being ignored just for racial reasons. In the end it's also insulting for black and Latino people because it implies that they only got where they are through quotas. And it seems the people that have benefited the most from affirmative action actually are white women. For some reason, they also get quotas based on gender.

I grew up in Vermont and we just had standard American new England food. My parents were poor. My favorite food was homemade macaroni and cheese with the food shelf Velveeta cheese and fried chicken. I went to California when i was 17 with some friends and i didn't even know what a quesadilla was.. LoL.
    Then i moved to Colorado and had Indian food and Thai food for the first time. And the Indian food was sooo good and flavorful and amazing. I didn't know food that good existed anywhere in the world. Thai food was also incredible. And middle eastern hummus is soo creamy and tastes way better than zionist or American hummus.
    In London England the most popular food now is Indian food. So yeah i like spicy hot food but I also love spicy flavorful food. Coconut curry is one of my all time favorite dishes. I love sag paneer and the naan bread especially with garlic and onion is soo good. And when my son was little he used to tell everyone his favorite food was chicken tikki masala.
    So yeah i think people are mad that there food tastes like shit and they don't even know it. But also claiming the white house would smell like curry isn't the insult loomer thinks it is. These people are so fucking hypocritical and ridiculous.
