That radio/phonograph combo is so BADASS!!!! Thanks for sharing!
That's very cool. 75 years old!
A Beautiful Retro unit , Love it too Thanks for Sharing ❤.
THANKS! I remember seeing one of these WAY back in the mid 60s at our church! Who can forget that uniquely-shaped speaker grill!? (8:08)
Very nice record players for that Era and he's done a beautiful restoration!
Flocken' A that restoration job he did was great !! 😎👍
Thank you and thanks to @fardemark!
I know a antique store owner in Vancouver who uses a 1949 one just like yours to play music on 78s in the store for atmosphere
Really cool!
What an amazing sound for a player more than 50 years old sounds as good as modern turntables a great job done by your friend
Couple of beautiful units here
Wow. What fantastic units for their age. You friend did a great job with the refurbishing. I loved the sound too.
Glad you enjoyed it
So beautiful. What a happy maker.
Bing Crosby is associated with the first tape recorders.
YES! A major investor in Ampex!
This is beyond Cool. 1949, 75 yrs ago, AMAZING ❤ I so miss the sound of yesterday. Reminds of an old Zenith I had.
I love that sound too - the warmth and richness is amazing!
Great video! Whoaa!
I had fun making it!
Wow that's awesome❤
I have never seen a 12 inch 78. Beautiful restorations!
Those 12-inchers can really be a sight to behold.
Very happy for you buddy I was drooling over it probably will never have the fortune of getting one but my dad does have an old filco radio photograph up in the mountains that was restored not as good as this window
Just wow.
Verry cool, congrats! I’m on the hunt for a Meteor Phonograph. I have a 1921 Victrola VV-100 right now.
With was a fun video
Thank you!
That is soooo cool -Has to be rare because I’v been antique hunting for many decades and never came across one in any shop, anywhere. And it’s early slot-loading in a Deco Style - Super Cool -👍
Thank you!
You should get even better sound from the speaker if you cover the back of the unit again like it was when new.
Lindo ver uma peça rara dessas ser restaurada e funcionando lindamente. Congratulações
Gracias mi amigo
Awesome! Cant wait to hopefully get one myself!
You will not be disappointed!
That was fascinating. Always love to see vintage equipment. I own my late parents' very first radio, a FADA model 790. My research indicates it was manufactured in 1949, but I think they bought their model around 1951 or 1952. The last time I used it was several years ago when it functioned well, except for oxidation on the switches. It has a beautiful warm tone. I would love to use it but feel I ought to get it checked out in case any capacitors or tubes should be replaced. However, I have no idea who could do the work for me. My mom has a couple of cousins who used to do radio and TV repair, but that was long ago, and they have sold all their tools and equipment. I have done Internet searches without success. Does anyone know how I could find someone reasonably in my neck of the woods (southeastern Illinois) who could repair vintage radios?
Wow!
I need one of those. I shared this with my pal George; it's right up his alley. BTW, we know Nauck (he has a regular 78 special on the great Internet channel Radio Dismuke, run by a pal of mine from Fort Worth.) If you ever get to Texas in the DFW area, let me know. I'll arrange for you to visit the Hollywood Hi-Fi record vault, i.e., George's house. It had to be built with a steel frame to hold the weight of all the records.
That would be awesome! 😎
I want to get the same original RCA stereo console my mom had. There is one on marketplace, but between the distance and price, I may pass for now.
Love it!
Wooooow, what a cool unit! I think it sounds great! Your friend did a great job in restoring this unit; was he finally able to loosen up that volume control a bit? I love audio carriers (different tape and record formats, cylinders, ...) and until now, I never had a cylinder phonograph. So, as cool as your unit is, I'd prefer a cylinder phonograph.
❤️👏👏👏
What will think of next?
It's really cool! But I have a question, doesn't sliding the record in, like, scratch it up?
Had a breadbox long ago.
Very nice indeed. Wait a minute! "Botanic Panic - Theme from Cuphead?" Is that a brand-new 78 record? That is really cool! Pretty impressive just how good those old radio/record players actually sound. To bad about the tuning knob getting broken. Hopefully you can come up with a suitable replacement. As to what would be my "holy grail" vintage? I might already have it in the form of my Technics SL-QL15 linear tracker turntable. Would not mind finding an original SL-10, though.
Good eye! You nailed it! Yes the linears are fun - I love my SLDL-1.
Great video. Nice unit. The audio and video were a bit out of sync. LOL
Which part? Time stamp?
OK to ask how much for each?
16:08 ah yes the 1940s best asbestos
