    From a sprinkler perspective I have bought inground sprinklers and put them on ground spikes. Durability and reparability is great, and I like being able to swap out different nozzles depending on what I need. For my side areas I am using a side strip nozzle right now and I find that to do a great job between the houses without spraying mine or my neighbors house

    I got a couple of the orbit ones like you have, works good. Just keep them moving. I got a couple of the standard ones also. Everything on a timer system, and water hoses are mostly in flower beds.

    I had an area in my cool season grass that dried up when temp got to 80+ degrees. I finally pulled back the grass and dug down. Turns out I had small rocks, some the size of golf balls or larger. I spent the time to replace the soil 6" down in that area and have had zero problems since. After 6 years of aerating and Hydrotain, my nightmare has ended!

    I use the orbit H2O sprinklers on a spike with a 4 port bhyve timer and run a garden hose on the side of my driveway, edge of the road, and flowerbed. With the H2O sprinklers, they can connect and I have 2 sprinklers on one port, 8 in total. Not a permanent solution by any means, but serves the purpose and cheaper than traditional irrigation.

    I have 7 of the quick snap sprinklers they work great! They have them on Amazon. They work just like irrigation pop up and go down were you can mow right over them.

    I have had issues with liquid hydrotain, since its difficult to insure the ground is wet enough and you have enough water getting it into the soil unless you apply it during a rain storm. I have moved over to a granular moisture manager, and have had way more success and longevity. Its much more forgiving on watering it in

    I use a system utilizing inground sprinklers but use above ground.I have 3-4 Hunter mp rotators on spikes connected by 25'hoses and utilize a fully programmable lawn timer..works great ! I saw this system on utube

      Same hear I have 5 zones using 6 times that I can control from my phone. Nothing like getting a notification at 5 am saying that your timer is about to start a 30 min cycle.

    Have you ever considered the above-ground traveling sprinkler device for your larger sections? Wish I had done that instead of spending thousands on an irrigation system.

    For your problem areas, like the side of the house near the driveway, you might consider the DIY Orbit sprinkler system. I think Home Depot has a 2-zone for like $190. You could use that faucet by your propane tank, bury the line straight across to the tree bed and put a few sprinkler heads in your tree bed spraying back toward the house. Put it on an Orbit b-hyve timer to control your water usage. The road strip would be a lot more work, but could do the same thing out there.

      Not a bad idea at all. I appreciate the advise. There are behind the scenes reasoning I won't do this, but it's a great idea for sure. I'll explain why maybe soon, but thanks man.

    Like other viewers have mentioned use underground sprinklers above ground I just started my lawn journey last fall (thanks to your channel) and those sprinklers are the way to go they are fairly reasonable and they are lot more efficient. Menards has the best selection.

    I use the Gilmour circular sprinkler for the side of the house. You can adjust the distance of the spray. On the short side, you can get it to decrease the flow and the long side you can have go long. Its call pattern master. I love it.

    Great vid. I will say that not all warm season grasses go dormant for six months. My Zeon Zoysia wasn't all brown until late December of last year and came out of dormancy in early March. The old tifway 419 Bermuda grass will go dormant as soon as it gets cooler (my neighbors have it and they are wanting to kill it to install something else). Fescue is a nice grass, but I'm telling you my Zoysia is MUCH more fun to maintain than my Fescue. Just my opinion of course.

    • @MrFergusonLawn
      @MrFergusonLawn  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Now I could live with that! For the high temps we maintain here, that should be the case I would think. Thanks for the comment Neal!

    @MrFerguson. Didn't you say your winter lows are like 45 degrees? Most warm season grasses go dormant when soil temp goes below 50 degrees. TTTF looks great, but if your summer is all 90s throughout, tough to stay green. I got TTTF in my backyard, Ryan Knorr's. It went dormant bc I didn't water, but once it rained, it came back. I'm gonna try Bioadvanced Root Moisturizer to see if it helps more. @LawnAmateur used it & helped him. Suppose to get all 90s here in NNJ starting next week.

    • @MrFergusonLawn
      @MrFergusonLawn  หลายเดือนก่อน

    • @farquadshmoogle9120

      @@MrFergusonLawn you should just make above ground irrigation system. Timer, hoses, & like 5 sprinkler heads. I have a smaller yard, so I use just 1 in front, 1 in back. I got the Orbit precision arc for my front this year, so I don't put overlap into my driveway & street. As for you Meynor, there is a thinner one you stick in ground but can do up to like 3000 sq ft. I sometimes put that in backyard to water, but mainly use for when my boy runs around on hot day.
